cyn_wp_750v3.jpg

CYN- Alex Ferrari and The Enigma Factory (the same people who brought you the short film, Broken) present this twisted little tale of a mysterious woman (Cyn) who finds herself held captive in a dingy basement. Her captures, two common street thugs, played to sleazy perfection by, Josh Randall and Frank Rodriguez, take great joy in tormenting the seemimgly terrified woman. What the guards do not know, is they will soon find themselves pawns in a deranged game of mental chess with the very woman they hold prisoner, and a menacing voyeur, watching the events unfold on a hidden security camera's monitor.

Like his previous feature, Broken (See our review below), Alex Ferrari's, Cyn is relatively short in length (clocking in at about five minutes) but what it lacks in length, It most certainly makes up for in high quality, and thoroughly entertaining cinema that leaves us begging for more.

Leading the cast of the films characters is Stephanie Michaels, who dazzles as the enigmatic, Cyn. Michaels performance in the film brings to mind Uma Thurman's portrayl of The Bride in Quentin Tarantino's, Kill Bill. With her seemingly effortless ability to turn emotions on and off like a light switch, not to mention changing her very persona with the drop of a dime, Michaels is the perfect fit for the complex character. Cyn is truly a woman of many layers, and an interesting character indeed.
Rounding out the cast is Derek Latta who portrays the shadowy figure, Daddy in the film. His connection to CYN will help explain the events of the shorts surprising climax.

Alex Ferrari seems to have carved out his own unique niche in the world of filmmakers. Like previous efforts CYN, first and foremost, is a visually appealing film. With it's punched up Cepia tones, and menacing music, the film has the feel of an uneasy dream. CYN manages to cover all the bases of your guilty pleasures. Featuring Jaw breaking action, snappy dialog, and the soul of a grainy Grindhouse flick, CYN packs one Hell of a wallop! To check out this film, and others by Mr. Ferrari, click HERE.

(L to R) Ben Lamm, Valerie Perez, Marla Malcom, David O' Donnell

PAULA PERIL-MYSTERY OF THE CRYSTAL FALCON-Jumping from the pages of Atlantis Studio's hit comic, and brought to life by actress Valerie Perez (Tomb Raider-Tears Of The Dragon) Paula Peril is back! This time around Paula is attending a charity auction thrown by the Countess Defalco (Merritt Mitchell) where the ancient, Crystal Falcon is up for bids. The auction has attracted a who's who of the social elite, all eager to get a look at the famed Falcon. Paula is not the only reporter attending the nights festivities, Veronica Vilancourt (Marla Malcom), catty fellow reporter for The Daily Gazette, is also on hand, along with cub photographer Jimmy Smith (Ben Lamm). Paula is in attendance merely to get a look at the Falcon, while Vilancourt, on the other hand, is there for one reason, and one reason ONLY, the big scoop! Both have no idea of the dramatic events about to transpire.

With the help of her son, Vincent Defalco (David O'Donnell), The Countess gives a brief history of the Falcon, and it's signifigance in their privileged lineage. Suddenly the lights are cut, and turned back on again, only to reveal the Falcon stolen! A classic whodunit is set in motion, with a room full of suspects, and one set of sticky fingers.

Paula uses her nose for news and hits the history books, only to find that the reason for the Falcon's theft may be far more sisnister than personal wealth. Both Paula, and Veronica, will soon find themselves in deep trouble as they encounter dark forces, and a twisted mind bent on ultimate power.

Paula Peril-Mystery Of The Crystal Falcon, comes fully loaded with enough action, mystery, and suspense, to rival that of most full length feature films.

The film's rock solid cast is led by Valerie Perez, who reprises her role of Paula Peril in the film. Paula is Lara Croft, Lois Lane, and Nancy Drew all rolled up into one dynamite package! Perez shines yet again, truly making the role Her own. An equally strong supporting cast compliments Perez just right. Marla Malcom, who plays fellow Gazette reporter, Veronica Vilancourt in the film, is a gal you love to hate, and beautifil thorn in Paula's side. Ben Lamm is perfect as the akward, and loveably dorky, Jimmy Smith. Rounding out the main cast is David O'Donnell, who plays Vincent Defalco in the film. O'Donnell is dark, mysterious, and menacing, making his performance a memorable one.

Overall, I film found this film undeniably entertaining, and a perfect example of comic book based cinema done right. Whether you're in the mood for a kick-butt action flick, the thrills of a classic mystery, or  a film that's just plain fun, Paula Peril-Mystery Of The Crystal Falcon has got you covered. Splendid work!

This film is brought to you by Paula Peril creator James Watson, Director Saavy Lorestani, and Atlantis Studios, and can be found available for download HERE.

LEGION OF SUPERHEROES:ONE SHOT HERO-This unique piece of work, by David Miller, is based on writer Cary Bate's storyline introducing us to Legion member, Drake Burrows aka ,Wildfire. In the film Wildfire must prove his worth in order to become a member Of The Legion Of Superheroes. After Mon-El initially rejects his membership, Wildfire gets a chance to redeem himself when the team finds itself up against a monster machine looking to devour an entire agricultural planet.

Even though this film is crudely animated, and features (at times) muffled audio, and mismatched voice work, it still scores points in my book. After all, How many LOSH Fan Films are out there? Exactly! So props to Mr. Miller right off the bat for taking this one on. This is a fun little film overall, and it features many of your favorite Legionairrers including, Mon-El, Collasal Boy, Phantom Girl, Bouncing Boy, and Chemical King to name a few. Stop taking everything so seriously and give this one a try. You can check out this film by clicking HERE.

SUPERMAN:UNPLUGGED-Another Fan Film first brought to you by Eric Waters and Waters Headquarters Productions. Superman:Unplugged, combine the worlds of Superman, and The Matrix for the first time, the final product being this thoroughly entertaining Fan Film sure to please fans of both franchises.

In the film Lex Luthor (played by Tim Storms) is enraged when a missle attack he orchestrated on Nashville Tennessee, in hopes of building his own new city in it's place, is thwarted by Superman (played by Sam Hargrave). Luthor retreats to his mansion in defeat, yet another win for Big Blue. The freshly defeated Luthor is paid a visit at Luthor Manor by a mysterious man in black. Known simply as Smith (played by Jessie Calder), the strange man offers his services to Luthor, claiming to guarantee Supermans ultimate destruction. In return, Smith needs Luthors resources to construct a robot army of his own design to take over the world, and to eliminate his own personal nemesis, a man by the name of Neo. After a sinister deal is made, Smith makes his way to Metropolis to track down The Man Of Steel, and destroy him.

Freshly done busting up a band of young warehouse thieves, Superman is confronted by Agent Smith. What follows is a well orchestrated, super- powered throwdown between two nearly indestructible adversaries. When the Police arrive at the scene Smith flee's, leaving a puzzled Man Of Steel in his wake. But Superman will soon learn the identity of his attacker when he is contacted by Agent Smith's number one foe, Neo. Together, The Man Of Steel, and The One, must combine their forces to defeat their respective foes, and prevent the end of the world as we know it.

Since the film is "To be continued" We don't get to see the exciting conclusion, but we are left with a very impressive first chapter that, in my humble opinion, is one of the best Superman Fan Films I've ever seen. That being said, let's get down to the nitty-gritty....What earned this film the title of "One Of The Best"? Let's start with the fantastic performances by the films cast..Sam Hargrave, Who plays both Clark Kent and Superman in the film, delivers a noteworthy performance that closely mirrors the work of the late Christopher Reeve as The Man Of Steel. With a slender build, and commanding tone, Hargrave spits out lines that would make Richard Donner proud. Hargrave is equally impressive with his ultra-meek take on Clark Kent. Hollywood stuntman, Tim Storms stars as Big Blue's arch nemesis, Lex Luthor in the film. Storms is everything he needs to be, arrogant, smug, and menacing. Storms makes Luthor his own, while maintaning the true spirit of the character. And finally, my award for standout performance in the film (drum roll ..) Jessie Calder as Agent Smith! With his robotic visage, and monotone vocal delivery, Calder is the perfect choice for the cold blooded character. If I were to pick my choice for for 'Best Villain In a Fan Film', Clader would make the top three easily. Rounding out the truly talented cast are Lindsay Kaufman as Lois Lane, and Chris Murphy as Neo. Great job guys!

Like I mentioned at the beginning of this review, This film is guaranteed to please fans of both Superman, and The Matrix. Driven by a great script, an outstanding cast, impressive special effects, fight choreography, and it's faithful adaptation of both franchises, Superman:Unplugged hits the bullseye. Two Fan-Thumbs way up! To view the film click HERE and enjoy!

DC ELSEWORLDS: CH. 1-3-Fanboys and gals should be all too familiar with the DC Comics Elseworlds books, you know the tagline, "In Elseworlds, heroes are taken from their usual settings and put into strange times and places - some that have existed, and others that can't, couldn't or shouldn't exist. The result is stories that make characters who are as familiar as yesterday seem as fresh as tomorrow." Well, this film series, by Chris Cowan and Lex Randlemen, utilizes that same concept to construct the films, and the end result are three solid shorts more than worthy of the Elseworlds title. Being that the films are seperate, I will take the liberty of mixing them together (in an easy to follow order) for review purposes. The first film, "Fair Play", Opens with Mr. Terrific (played by Lex Randleman) and The Huntress on the run from the Police. The pair split up and Mr. Terrific finds himself face to face with Green Lantern/John Stewart (played by Dan Johnson). A man named Kingston Cleary, who Terrific believes to be the head of virtually every criminal organization,  is dead, and Stewart wants answers, suspecting Terrific, and his band of rebels are responsible for the murder.

Short number two, "Titans", adds Cyborg (played by Chris Cowan) to the fold. Victor Stone (who's appearance in the film is dramatically different from the comics, seeing he is virtually 100% free of any cybernetic appendages, until he uses his arm cannon) is on the run from Mr. Terrific and his T-Spheres. He is lured to a remote location where Donna Troy (played by Lauren Parkinson) lay in waiting. Troy wants information regarding Kingston Cleary. When Stone refuses to disclose any info, Troy tries getting it from him the hard way..

Short Three, "What's In A Name?", Opens with Teen Titan, Raven (played by Brittany Jones) awakened by a disturbing vision while meditating. The vision, the defeat of Cyborg at the hands of Donna Troy. After deeming Victor Stone alive, yet in a cybernetic hybernation to repair his damages, Mr. Terrific has other news for Troy when he returns to their hideout. Kingston Cleary was not dead, instead Charles Szasz (aka The Question) was the body lying in the morgue. It seems he had been impersonating Cleary all along. Believeing that Green Lantern was in cahoots with Szasz to stage a hostile takeover. Terrific and Troy find their backs against the wall, anticipating an all out war with Green Lantern and The Elite. Meanwhile Raven is visited by a mysterious man without a name, and Green Lantern enlists the help of a certain, little blonde birdie..

As I stated earlier These shorts are certainly worthy of The Elseworlds moniker, the reason? Let's start from the top..Great writing, DC Elseworlds various plotlines come together to produce one solid story, and a very strong foundation for a series to build on. Next, Mr. Cowan and crew simply, got it right. By "right" I mean all the key elements for a successful, and comic authentic Fan Film are here, you've got actors and actresses that actually look the part, film friendly costume work, solid performances all around that lack the over-acting that is prevalent in most Fan Films. I especially enjoyed the intensity of Lex Randleman's performance as Mr. Terrific in the films. And finally the films all look good, in other words, the films are shot, and edited well leaving us, the viewers with a very professional looking piece of work to enjoy. Oops! I left out the effects work used in the film..thumbs up! From The floating T-Sphere's, to Cyborgs's arm cannon blasts, it's all good my friends..

Wow, this is the second fantastic Fan Film that I have had the pleasure to review in a row! Gentlemen like Mr. Cowan, Mr. Randleman, and the entire cast and crew of these shorts for that matter, prove that the sky is truly the limit when it comes to making Fan Films. You can tell the amount of passion and dedication that went in to making this project, the love always shows. I'm hooked guys, outstanding work! Now hurry up with part four!!! You can check out all three chapters of DC Elseworlds HERE. and at Mr. Cowan's Myspace page HERE

Josh Davidson as The Joker
blpic9.jpg

BORN LAUGHING-Fans of Heath Ledgers awe-inspiring portrayl of The Joker in Christopher Nolan's, Batman-The Dark Knight take note...This amazing Fan Film by Joeseph Nasto, Clearvision Pictures, and Be More Films, is the perfect chaser for Nolan's masterpiece. The film is meant to document the early crimes of The Joker prior to his appearance in The Dark Knight. Graphic and disturbing, Born Laughing gives you a little sample of what The Dark Knight might have been like with an R-rating. Josh Davidson, who portrays The Joker in the film, is creepy, menacing, and clearly disturbed, coming as close to Ledgers portrayl as you're gonna get. The film opens by dumping the viewer directly into the bloody lap of an ugly crime scene in the making. A bound and gagged girl is tied to a chair and trembling with fear. It seems that she is the unfortunate sole survivor of an earlier bombing attempt by The Joker that claimed the life of her parents.
Knowing this, The Joker comes to finish the job, but not before having a little fun first.

What makes this film so great is simple..Director Joseph Nasto and crew managed to capture just enough of the spark that made The Dark Knight so great, and managed to cram it into a seven minute Fan Film just as entertaining as a full length feature. Davidson's performance is so brilliant I could swear I was watching Heath Ledger in some unused footage from The Dark Knight. He's that good folks..An amazing feat indeed, considering Born Laughing was made based on the very first teaser for Nolan's film, along with some brief footage of Ledger in action.

While Heath Ledger may be dearly departed, his spirit will certainly live on in the heart and minds of creators everywhere. Born Laughing is both a true fan masterpiece, and a fitting tribute to a man who left this Earth way too soon.

DR. FATE-A QUESTION OF FATE-Director Gary Lobstein is back with this sequel to his first Doctor Fate fan film, Dr.Fate & The Crawling Chaos. This time around it's up to The Question to save the day when Dr. Fate is declared missing after his encounter with the ancient evil forces set free from The Book Of Chaos. With help from a crazed college student, maddened by his encounter with The Book Of Chaos, and female student of the meta-physics, The Question sets out to find Fate and return the evil spirits back to their own dimension, but at what cost? This one features a nice cliffhanger ending, possibly opening the door to a third installment?? Well, I for one hope so, because I really enjoyed this second installment of Lobstein's Doctor Fate saga. Lobstein's choice of The Question as the films co-star is a logical one. after all, who better to find the good Doctor than a skilled Detective who's had his fair share of run-in's with evil of all shapes and sizes. The Question is decked out in his blue suit, and orange shirt in the film, and voiced by Lobstein himself. Lobstein's impersonation of The Question mirrors the voice work of Jeffrey Combs in The Justice League Unlimited series. Not a bad thing, since i think the JLU incarnation of Vic Sage was dead on. The short also marks the return of John Dedeke as Dr. Fate. The film itself has an overall dark feeling, with modest, yet effective special effects work, clever use of comic panel shots, and darkened rooms to set the mood. Although the film has an overall dark feeling, it moves along at a pace that's just right, bringing to mind the old movie serials of yesteryear, leaving you restless for the stories conclusion, and the fate of the hero. With this sequel, Mr. Lobstein proves once again, that characters as intimidating as Dr. Fate can star in their very own Fan Films, when placed in the right hands. Nice one Gary! To see this film please visit the official website HERE. PREDATOR VS. BOBA FETT- Not much of a story to fuel this verses style Fan Film, The plot being nothing more than a game of Cat And Mouse played out by the titles main characters, but it certainly stands out from the rest. Shot on black and white 8mm film, utilizing crude special effects, and zero dialogue, it is instead the 'low tech' approach that gives this film it's charm, and a unique feel all it's own. Drama in the short is created in the same vein as a silent film, using a rousing musical score to build suspense as The Predator stalks everyone's favorite Bounty Hunter (Sorry Dog) Great costume work is also noteworthy in the film. The only real complaint I have with the film is the shortage of actual combat between the titles stars. While it looked really cool, it needed more action. After all, we are talking about two highly proficient killing machines. All that aside, I can certainly say i enjoyed the film, and truly respect the Director (George, I'm sorry I don't know your last name) for his choice in taking a rather unorthodox approach to creating your typical verses style Fan Film. Good job! See George (or Frak's) film on Youtube today!

STAR TREK VS. STAR WARS-A NERD'S FANTASY- Meezmeyer Productions, and Director Stephen Emizian, bring you the tale of Milton Marmeladelson, a stereotypical fanboy nerd obsessed with Star Wars and Star Trek. In his basement Milton dreams of an epic battle betweeen the two Sci-Fi power houses, a dream that seems to come true. Milton drifts off into a daydream and finds himself on an Endor-esue planet, and directly in the path of an Imperial Army headed by Stormtroopers, Biker Scouts, and TIE Fighter Pilots. Dressed in an X-Wing Fighter flight suit Milton is a sitting duck. thankfully he is not alone. It appears that Milton's unexpected appearance has interfered with a surprise attack on the Imperial Forces headed by Captain Riker, and Lt. Worf of The USS Enterprise (Star Trek-The Next Generation, in case you didn't know..) Riker's orders a scouting party to beam down to their current location to engage the enemy. It's Phaser vs. Blaster Rifle as the two armies attempt to stand their ground. Caught in the middle of an intergallactic shootout, Milton drifts back to reality, only to be greeted by none other than Lt. Worf and Captain Riker who commend him for his vailiant actions on the battlefield. Is this real? Is Milton still in La La Land? Check the film out for yourself and you decide. This film was simply a witty, and well intentioned, shot at Trekkies and Warsies, utilizing the unfortunate  sterotypical profiles that they have been branded with over the years as the source of it's humor. You know the type, The guy too busy fashioning a lightsabre out of shower head parts, or shooting invisible Klingon invaders with their Mother's blow dryer. Vicious I know, but excellent fodder for a funny Fan Film. Besides the Ha Ha factor, this film also features some nice costume work, make-up, and special effects. Speaking of which, looks for the film's Director, Steven Emizian, as Lt. Worf in the film. If You're in the mood for a couple of cheap laughs, at the expense of Fanboys everywhere, this baby is your ticket. See it today on Youtube! Live long, and may the force be with you...

ELEKTRA-THE HAND & THE DEVIL-Chris Notarile has certainly been busy of late. This is Chris's second film reviewed in one FBT update. Usually a DC kinda guy, Mr. Notarile has decided to take on the characters from the Marvel universe with the release of this Fan Film based on Frank Miller's legendary run on Daredevil. Although DD is certainly one of Marvel's big guns, Chris has instead decided to make Elektra the main focus of the film. Starring Blinky newcomer, Kim Santiago as Elektra, the films opens with immediate action, with Bullseye (played by Damien Coletti) and Elektra engaged in some heavy hand to hand combat. Both are looking to collect the bounty on Daredevil's head from The Kingpin. Bullseye eventually gets the best of Elektra by stabbing Her with her own Sai. Bullsye flees with Elektra presumed dead, but her strength to fight is too great. Elektra manages to drag herself to the steps of Matt Murdock's apartment where she dies in his arms. As Elektra dreams of Her past with Matt Murdock (played by Adam Shorsten, who also plays Daredevil in the film) she is suddenly awakened by a Master from The Hand Clan. He orders her to arise and finish her mission, and she sets out to do just that. While on routine patrol in Hell's Kitchen, Daredevil is surprised by Elektra, But She's certainly not the woman he loved, and presumed dead. Brainwashed, and more powerful, Elektra lashes out at Daredevil who only defends himself, desperately trying to get inside her head. Will the power or love be great enough to save Elektra's soul? I'm not telling, but you can check out the movie to get the skinny. Okay, let's start at the top, Casting! Once again Mr. Notarile has managed to round up some impressive talent to bring some of Marvels most reveared characters to life. Damien Coletti is perfect as the sleazy, maniacal, and creepy Bullseye. Kim Santiago debuts with a solid performance as Elektra, and proves she can easily throw down with the big boys. Looking forward to seeing Ms. Santiago in future Blinky Productions. And last but not least, the man in the red tights and horned cowl, Adam Shorsten. Shorsten fills the dual roles of The Man Withour Fear with relative ease. And the fact that he's got the right build to actually wear the suit makes the film that much more authentic. That is pretty much a Blinky Productions staple, always spot on with the cosume work. Being a big fan of Frank Miller's work, and Daredevil, I was delighted to see that someone, besides David Sarrio (Hi Dave!), actually took the time to make a real deal fan film bringing Ol' Horn Head to life. Well shot, and full of panel to panel comic style action, Elektra-The Hand & The Devil, is a kick ass action film, with just the right amount of heart, to capture the true spirit of Frank Miller's masterful run on the book. Great work Chris! To see this film please visit the official website for Blinky Productions HERE. Consume True Believers!

MANIAC COP-Just in time for Halloween comes this Horror based Fan Film from Chris Notarile and Blinky Productions. Made as an effort to reniew interest in an otherwise dead film franchise, Chris Notarile's take on the boy in blue gone bonkers seems to closely follow the same formula that made the original films such a cult sensation, while providing an edgy, modern day cinematic style sure to peak the interest of todays movie going audience. How can you go wrong with a sicko cop that runs around senslessly murdering people? That's what I thought, and i'm sure that's how Mr. Notarile feels as well. Yet another gem in The Blinky Productions crown. To see this puppy for yourself visit Blinky Productions official website HERE and get to clickin'!

A-BO THE HUMONKEY- Occasionally here at FBT I decide to review a film that isn't necessarily a "Fan Film", buy very worthy of your attenton nonetheless. This film, by director Frankie Frain and Red Cow Entertainment, is a perfect example of just that. I really didn't know what to make of this film, judging by the title, but once I popped it into the DVD player and fired it up I was hooked. The film tells the tale of A-Bo (short for Ape Boy) a misunderstood creature that is the bi-product of a unique experiment linking both human, and chimpanzee DNA. Hideously deformed as a result of the gene splicing A-Bo is abandonned on the steps of a church where he is taken in and raised by Nuns. We then join A-Bo Fifteen years later where he is a teachers assistant at the local High School handing out newspapers and mail to teachers. One teacher in particular, Mr. James Hoffman (played by John Ryan), sees A-Bo as more than just a helpful hand. Hoffman seems to take a particular dislike to A-Bo, and after feeling A-Bo's wrath in return for his disrespect (You have to see it to know, it's that funny) Hoffman arranges a meeting with the school faculty (including a special appearance from a certain Troma Films Director) to have A-Bo thrown out of school. The result, instead, is the complete opposite. Seeing A-Bo as a delight to children, and a hard worker, the board not only turns down the proposal, they also fire Hoffman, and decide to have a parade honoring A-Bo. With that, the villain of the story is born...
After seeing A-Bo on TV, a young college student from Boston, Ted Gillette (played by Jake Emanuel), becomes fascinated with the creature and invites him to come stay at his apartment so he can further study him, and attempt to intigrate him into society. After the board grants him the request A-Bo moves in with Ted and His slacker roomate Willy (played to perfection by by Benjamin Fisher). A-Bo quickly becomes the toast of the town, while Willy, once closest to Ted, see's himself getting pushed further and further away. Alienated further still by the arrival of Bonnie (played by Bertie "Holy" Payne Strange) an orphaned girl who befrends A-Bo and Ted, Willy decides to get rid of A-Bo by putting him up for auction on the internet, an action that would ultimately drop him right in the lap of the man that hates him the most, James Hoffman. Will A-Bo escape the clutches of the dastardly Hoffman, Can Willy stop getting stoned?, Will Ted ever take off that stupid hat? The answers to these questions and more await you with the purchase of this DVD. A-Bo The Humonkey is a strangely heart warming, bizzare, funny, and well written film that proves the Nuclear Family is quickly becomming and antequated concept. Over the top performances, impressive make-up work, and full of cheap laughs, A-Bo is not only a memorable film, it's also one you won't soon forget. I want more A-Bo! The DVD special features for the film include.. cast and crew commentary, a funny and insightful 'making of' featurette, trailers, and a short film by Director Frankie Frain. Visit the films official website HERE and Myspace page HERE and buy your copy today!

final-trek-batman-poster2.jpg

STAR TREK VS. BATMAN - POW! ZIP! BOP! ZAP! Fans of retro TV shows Batman, and Star Trek listen up, there is a lost episode of both Star Trek and Batman out there, and this is it! Coming as close as you can to the real thing, this film, or fan episode(s), by the good folks of Rasco Motion Pictures, and Director Christopher Allen, includes all of the goofy things that made both shows so enjoyable, and makes for one Hell of a Fan Film..Designed to look just like episodes of both series, the chapters open and close with slightly modified opening credits from the actual shows, including musical scores, and even a guy who does the infamous Batman narraration throughtout the episodes. In the film Captain Kirk (played by Joshua Ramsey) and the crew of The Enterprise suddenly find themselves stuck in a mysterious magnetic storm that brings them back to the year 1967, and back on Earth. Beaming down to Earth, both Kirk, and Spock (played by Leo Barczewski), look for answers to their current dilema. Finding themselves in a small town Spock and Kirk are drawn to a strange cloud of fumes eminating from an old warehouse. Unfortunately, the fumes are a potent form of Nitrous Oxide, knocking both of them unconscious. Upon awakening, Kirk and Spock find themselves tied up in a strange room adorned with menacing circus style props. Yep, you guessed it, it is the work of The Clown Prince Of Crime, The Joker. The Joker (played by Gavin Rulon) is partnered with Catwoman (played by Victoria Floro, who bears a striking resemblance to Julie Newmar) and their plans are nothing short of sinister. The Joker plans on erasing the minds of Kirk and Spock with a mind control device that will transfer their knowledge of The Eneterprises controls, and crew, to himself, and rendering Kirk and Spock mindless zombies under his command. With The Enterprise at his disposal Joker plans to ravage the planet. Unknown to the devious duo, spotting a strange alien aircraft above Gotham, Batman (played by Scott Gayno), and Robin (played by Daniel Baughton) scramble to the location only to find themselves under attack by The Jokers minions, and the freshly brainwashed Kirk and Spock. Following the same formula, the remaining episodes are camp fueled, action packed slices of pop culture Heaven. Watching these incredibly faithful adaptations of both series, i could swear i was watching the real thing. Sure, not all of the actors and actresses are dead wringers of their TV counterparts, but incredible costume work, sets, and even a actual Batmobile, leave you thinking this could have actually happened.. Special kudos go out to the writing team for an incredibly witty storyline, Scott Gayno (Batman), and Daniel Baughton (Robin), for  truly capturing West and Ward's unique chemistry. And let's not forget Gavin Boughton (The Joker), and the work of Joshua Ramsey (Kirk), and Leo Barczewski (Spock) for their solid acting, and authentic portrayls. These episodes are incredibly impressive pieces of work that practically cross the line bewtween the work of fans, and the real deal. Fanboy approved! To see these episodes for yourself, visit Rasco Productions website HERE. Live long, and prosper...

inkblot.jpg

INK BLOT- This Watchmen Fan Film, by Krystian Ramlogan and Multidiasporic Films, Once again takes a majority of it's plot from the pages of Alan Moore's masterpiece, with an exception, most of the film's dialog is original material. Instead of taking the words off of the written page, Ramlogan instead chooses to offer his own insight into the brilliant/mad mind of the masked vigilante. The film takes it's direction from the pages of Watchmen #2. In the issue, Rorscahch is looking for answers involving the murder of the Comedian, a violent, and deranged vigilante in his own right, that shared similar views on society as a whole. The Comedian, aka Edward Blake, was one of the few people Rorschach considered a friend. The film had Rorschach searching for answers in the murder of his fallen teammate, mulling over theories behind the murder in his head like a broken blender. By way of repetitive thoughts, and slightly warped vocals, the film is successful in providing a window into the troubled mind of the character. Since none of us know what Rorschach's voice would truly sound like, unless you ask Alan Moore himself, the characters slight Carribean accent should be overlooked, instead of debated. One thing i might debate however, is the clarity of Rorschach's thoughts. We all know the guy is Looney Tunes, so perhaps a little more illogical thinking, and improper grammar is needed in the dialog, to remind us of the fact that we're not dealing with say..Batman. Rorschach's overall creepiness in the film is without question. Ramlogan's Rorschach carries himself like Michael Myers in a Fedora. The film's ending is great, wrapping things up nicely, and providing us with the first celluloid appearance of Watchmen arch-nemesis, Moloch! I will not give away anymore, i will just leave you with that. Great original effort! It certainly does not stray too far from words Moore might have penned himself. And for that reason alone, you should make it your business to check this one out. Click HERE and enjoy!

bringwatchmen.jpg

WATCHMEN -The Watchmen madness continues with the review of this film by John R. Bring and Mainframe Pictures. This film is yet another adaptation of a chapter in Alan Moore's, Watchmen, but not one you'd expect. Instead of Rorschach basking in the glow of the main spotlight, this film features Dan Dreiberg , aka Nite Owl, as the main character. This film is based on pages 10 thru 13 of issue #1 in the original series. In the film we see a defeated looking Dan Dreiberg walking the lonely streets. When he gets back to his humble apartment he finds someone waiting for him. That someone?, Rorschach. Rorschach visits Dreiberg in the hopes that he could provide information regarding the murder of The Comedian, a former teammate of their's. The film does a great job covering the three pages above by way of solid acting, overall mood, and it's faithfulness to the original source material. Adam Perry does a terriffifc job portraying Dan Dreiberg in the film, he is every bit as straight-laced and timid as his comic book counterpart. It also doesn't hurt that he actually resembles him as well, always a good thing folks. Michael Mason Blair, playing Rorschach in the film, gives the character the voice of an old school Brooklyn thug, avoiding the creepy/crazy pipes ,that would seem more fitting, all together. I normally would prefer the later, but for some reason Blair's vocal stylings in the film actually fit. With it's musical score, laden with horns you'd find piercing the smoky air of a back alley Jazz club of old, Blair's voice compliments the mood perfectly, as well as providing a nice contrast to Perry's, Dan Dreiberg. A nice piece of drama overall that proves Fan Films can actually feature some solid acting, if you look in the right place. Nicely done indeed. Click HERE for the film.

watchmenpg5.jpg

WATCHMEN PG.5 - Literally bringing page five of Alan Moore's Watchmen to life, Watchmen Pg.5 is a word for word adaptation of the now infamous page from the legendary graphic novel. The short stars one of the books most popular characters, Rorschach. This Fan Film is quite short, but that's just fine. after all, this is a film based on one page from a comic book, we're not talkin', War And Peace here.. Visually the film is a dynamo. With awesome camera work, a groovy digital backdrop, and a Pulp Noir feel, just perfect for Mr. Rorschach, this is probably the most faithful Fan Film adaptation of The Watchmen that I've seen to date. The only gripe i have with the film, and i mean iddy biddy, is that Rorschach's voice is rather normal. Sure he sounds tough and gritty, like a private dick from days gone by, no problem with that,  but the character is mentally deranged, Maybe making the tone of his voice a little scarier and unhinged would have done it for me. Otherwise, no complaints here. The film pretty much follows Alan Moore's script for the book verbatim, but there is also some original dialouge added by the filmmakers for good meausure.

This is, simply, a great little Fan Film that should command repeated viewings. As a final note, a little nugget of trivia.. I just discovered this film was made by a High School senior for his final project, In the great words of Peter Griffin, "Holy crap!"
Color me extremely impressed.  So check it out for yourselves and enjoy! Click HERE for the film.

frankcrowinchair.jpg

DRAVEN-Directors Aaron Lambert and Frank Palangi serve up their own interpretation of the classic Crow series, by James O'Barr, with the release of this new Crow Fan Film. Draven, takes all of the good stuff from the original Crow storyline and packs it into fourteen minutes of film. The film opens with Draven donning the guise of The Crow before He visits the first of the men he plans to kill, avenging his Fiancee's murder. The rest of the film consists of pretty much the same thing, but there are some things in this adaptation that make it stand out in the crowd. The film is shot entirely in black and white, giving it the look of the actual graphic novel, with the exception of some flashback sequences that are shot in color. The Flashbacks also feature some impressive special effects work, giving them a haunting, almost angelic feel. Since the root of The Crow story is based on tragic events, the ethereal effects used really capture that mood. You can almost feel Draven's pain as the memories of his lost love haunt his tortured mind. This film also features a different sort of Draven..Palangi, who stars as both Draven and The Crow in the film, seems a little more agressive, almost Punisher-esque. One of Palangi's better performances in a Fan Film thus far. An all around well done piece of work. Haunting, touching, and faithful to it's comio book roots, Draven is one you will remember. abyssgaze.jpg

THE ABYSS GAZES ALSO-Taken directly from the pages of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons Comic masterpeice, The Watchmen, The Abyss Gazes Also, provides a live-action adaptation of the psychiatric evaluation of Rorschach, conducted by Dr. Malcom Long. The film's script follows the comic text word for word, but that's not necessarily an issue, it's how you put that story to good use, that's what counts. This film does just that. Shot in black and white, the look of the film immediately sets the gloomy backdrop for this suspense laden thriller. The mental game of tennis between Dr. Long and Rorschach is a true nailbiter. Rorschach (played by Kyle Salhany) is genuinely creepy, with his monotone voice, and stone cold countenance( Salhany) hits the bullseye and serves up an noteworthy portrayl of the demented vigilante. The film features nighmarish flashback sequences of Rorschachs vigilante exploits. Brought to life via semi-animated panels straight from the graphic novel, the sights and sounds are unnerving, giving us a convincing look into the mind of a madman. (Michael Smyth) who portrays Dr.Long in the film is the perfect ying to (Salhany's) yang. Straight-laced and cowardly, Long squirms in his chair finding himself trapped in the black hole that is Rorschachs hollow soul. This is one of the best Watchmen films I have viewed recently, And I highly reccommend checking it out. This film is brought to you by Jesse Rath, Monty Bernardi, and the good folks of Shatter Films. ghostriderhead.jpg

GHOST RIDER:ROAD TO HELL- Coming your way from Frank Palangi and Palangi Pictures is this short film that stays true to the Hollywood adaptation of the character starring Nicholas Cage. In the film Blaze (played by Palangi) Wanders country back roads looking for a certain house, with a certain guy, selling a certain bike. You guessed it, a Motorcycle. After bartering with the shady character Blaze sits on the bike, and we all know what happens when Mr. Blaze jumps on a hog....Unfortunately, the shady salesman doesn't, all He can do is gaze in horror as Blaze begins his frightful transformation into The Ghost Rider. This film was short, but it's simple plot was a nice way to show off Mr. Palangi's special effects work, and to give ol' Ghosty his fifteen minutes of Fan Film fame. Although GR's skull wasn't on fire, the flames underneath the skull looked cool enough to make that a non-issue. I know We all don't have gigantic Hollywood budgets to make our films, so I give Mr. Palangi props for making this film period. As far as I know it's the only Ghost Rider Fan Film out there. Palangi also stars as Johnny Blaze in the film and does a darn good Nicholas Cage impersonation ta' boot. A cool little film that could, nice work! Check out the film HERE.

samurai2.jpg

SAMURAI:WIND OF JUSTICE- While He isn't one of the more well known, or well liked members of The Superfriends, Samurai was always a personal favorite of mine as a kid. That being said, I am pleased to announce that finally, in the year 2008, He gets his own blockbuster Fan Film!! Well...not really...Ya see, Samurai:Wind Of Justice is more or less a vehicle for cheap laughs at poor ol' Samurai's expense. Since this film is so short I will give you little else. It's funny, it's clever, and it actually features a live-action Samurai! What more do you need folks? This film is brought to you by You Said Your Damn Ninja Take Care Of Robocop Productions, and yes..that is their actual name. Click HERE Superfriends! I heard they just got HD TV over at The Hall Of Justice, so ask Wendy and Marvin to let you in, they have nothing better to do.

spiritthumb.jpg

THE SPIRIT- Brought to you by Director, Michael Dilorenzo, And A So Amateur It Hurts/Lake Joint Productions, The Spirit, is a fun little black and white Fan Film in the same vein as early films by Don Glut. Sure the kid playing The Spirit is a bit young, and the dialogue is a bit flat at times, but all of that can be overlooked when you see the short for what it really is, a tribute to Eisner's iconic creation that has just enough heart to get the job done. Right from the opening shot of the Spirit laying unconscious on a bed of leaves, the feel of the classic strip is present. I will also add on extra points for just the right ammount of fisticuffs and witty humor. Some of the Pulpy/Noir dialogue could have easily come from the pen of Mr. Eisner, that really stood out to me. The film itself, and the style in which it is filmed screams Camp, but in a good way. Consider Ed Wood directing a Republic Serial and you'll get an idea of what I'm talking about. So check this little film out and come to your own conclusion, Mine? I had fun. Check out the film HERE.

silentenclisionfbt.jpg

SILENT ENCLISION (Advanced Screening) -  I was fortunate enough to receive an advanced copy of Rene Perez and iDiC Entertainments latest film, Silent Enclision recently and let me tell ya', Perez and Co. are back again with both barrels blazing! Like the title implies, Silent Enclision is a virtually silent film. And in the tradition of the silent greats, Silent Enclision speaks volumes without saying a word. Fueled by a hard driving soundtrack (provided courtesy of Perez's band, iDiC), and non-stop action, Perez's latest venture may just be his best to date. In the film a stealthy, Ninja-like character, storms a heavily guarded stone compound. The mysterious figure takes out the guards one by one using nothing more than a sidearm, a knife, and an amazing display of Martial Arts ability. The action is quick paced, but not too hectic to leave you wondering what's going on. Obtaining a map from the fortress, the man in black shoots his way out of the compound and heads to a small village to continue his mission. Like the fortress, the village is also heavily guarded by soldiers. With the stealth of a spider on the wall, and the agility of a jungle cat, the dark commando makes quick work of the unsuspecting sentries, bringing him one step closer to finishing his mission. Freeing a frightened girl from a hidden tomb, the man has found what he was searching for, or so it seems...I will reveal no more my good children, the conclusion of this film has a unique twist, easily making it a surprise worth waiting for. With some well executed cinematography, exotic shooting locations, and enough action to give you whiplash, Silent Enclision is without a doubt the most fun I've ever had reviewing a film from iDiC Entertainment. This project is a perfect example of getting the job done by working the angles, meaning..outside of a strong script, a film is only as good as it's foundation, and this film uses everything but words to captivate the audience, and keep them hungry for more. Well done Rene! Silent Enclision will be made available soon on DVD, along with a prequel comic book. I will keep you updated with release info, but you can also visit iDiC Entertainments official website for more on the release. Also be sure to check out exclusive images from the film by clicking HERE.

hrnomoresouls.jpg

HELLRAISER:NO MORE SOULS-What is to become of the soul eaters when there are no more souls to consume? That is the question pondered in this Hellraiser Fan Film from Gary J. Tunnicliffe. In the film Mankind is wiped out after a nuclear holocaust leaving a weary, and aged Pinhead, with no fresh souls to torture in the depths of Leviathan. Knowing this, Pinhead begins to question the rest of his own existence, Can he remain without ever knowing the sweet taste of agony and suffering ever again? The ending of this film may leave some Pinhead fans dissapointed, but I (being a Hellraiser fan myself) thought the way Mr.Tunnicliffe wrapped of this film was both witty and pleasantly surprising. I will begin the review of this film by warning you all that you may, or may not, consider this an actual "Fan Film", reason being that the creative team behind the latest Hellraiser films are actually responsible for this short film as well. Anyhoo...This is an all around solid piece of Film making, from the well written Barker-esque dialogue, to the outstanding makeup and costuming, this one covers all the bases easily. Another thing I would like to note about this film is the audio. Unless I stand corrected, I do believe this may be the first time I have actually raved about a films sound work on FBT. Watch the film and listen for yourself, well synched, clear and crisp, it sounds great! To top it all off, Pinhead is played by none other than Gary J. Tunnicliffe, the film's Director. As far as Hellraiser Fan Films go, consider, Hellraiser-No More Souls, at the top of the list. And remember, Sandy Collora had a little help fron his friends to make Dead End, so give this one a chance. Enjoy by clicking HERE. Also, be sure to visit Gary J. Tunnicliffe's official website located HERE.

cannibalgirland.jpg

THE MISLED ROMANCE OF CANNIBAL GIRL & INCEST BOY- I have chosen to shine the FBT Spotlight on yet another film some may deem unconventional for this site, with the review of this film from Director Richard Taylor. This puppy was so out there that I just couldn't resist...Picture if you will a romance, a romance that would make Shakespeare himself shed a tear, actually..screw all that! This film is an insane orgy of blood and guts that makes you run for the barf bag, only after laughing your ass off! In the tradition of early Peter Jackson, and Troma Films library of work, this film pushes the gore envelope to the max, while not taking itself too seriously. In the film a girl, who just so happens to be a bloodthirsty cannibal, falls for a pathetic, feral-like boy who walks on all fours. The problem is that Cannibal Girl can't seem to fight her overwhelming urge to kill and feed, putting the couples romantic future in question, and setting the film's twisted, and tragic, Romeo And Juliet undertones. This film is defintely not for the faint of heart, or those easily offended, but I sure as Hell enjoyed it! Although the film is practically dialogue free, the absurd chain of events in the film speak volumes. The short also has that Grindhouse feel, utilizing the grainy film affect made infamous from countless 1970's gore films. As twisted as it sounds, this film is a really fun ride. I found myself cringing, yet anticipating the next scene to see if it would top the last's outrageousness. To sum up, chock this one up as bloody brilliant, literally! You can buy this film, and find out more about it, by visiting the official Myspace page located HERE.

frankensteinsbloody.jpg

FRANKENSTEIN'S BLOODY NIGHTMARE-Every once in awhile on FBT I like to mix things up with a non-traditional Fan Film I deem worthy of a review on this site. For those of you thinking, "This isn't a Fan Film, what the Hell is it doing on FBT?" Well, the answer is quite simple actually..It's a really cool piece of work. If you're thinking that this film is going to compare to Universal Studios epic films, based on the creature and it's deranged creator, you will more than likely be disappointed. Not saying it's a bad thing, but this ain't your Grandpa's Frankenstein flick..Frankenstein's Bloody Nightmare, a film by John R. Hand, Is Art-House meets Grind House. This film is the macabre tale of a young scientist named Victor Karlstein (played to creepy perfection by John R. Hand), a mentally disturbed young man who finds himself in both a personal, and professional crisis. Karlstein is the head of medical research facility, a facility trying desperately to keep the love of Karlstein's life alive. With his love slowly slipping away Karlstein formulates a mad plan to bring her back to life. With the aid of a mechanicaly re-animated monster, Karlstein stalks and murders women for organs and body parts in hopes of constructing a new lover from scratch. With his mental health rapidly deterioraing Karlstein becomes more wreckless and bloodthirsty, actions that lead authorities to consider him a main suspect in the series of grisly murders. As I mentioned earlier this film this is not your A-typical Frankenstein Film. Sure it's got some of the familiar monster movie elements, but it's the way that John R. Hand takes the film and molds it into his own twisted and stylized creation that sets it above the rest. Ok, Let's start with the visuals.. The movie was shot on Super 8 Film giving it a grainy, Grinhouse feel. You can almost swear the film is straight from the 70's. In addition, The clever use of various camera and film effects, topped by a eerie soundtrack, make this film a nightmarish collage of sight and sound that is a truly unique visual experience. Kudos also given for the film's cinematography, and a memorable performance by John R. Hand as Victor Karlstein. So, to sum up...This film is reccommended for all, even people who don't like monster flicks, or cult cinema just have to give it up for Hand's fresh interpretation of a classic formula. You can get yourslef a copy of the film on DVD by visiting the official website HERE. The DVD includes various special features, including a commentary and a behind the scenes featurette. Great stuff!

iron-man-fan-film.jpg

THE INVINCIBLE IRON MAN - DC Comics fans have their fair share of professional looking Fan Films to enjoy (Grayson, World's Finest, Green Arrow, etc.), Well..Now it's time for Marvel fans to bask in the spotlight of Fan Film greatness with the release of an absolutely incredible Fan Film by David Guivant and No Budget Productions. Like the films listed above, The Invincible Iron Man is technically an extended trailer, but this one has a bit of a twist to it... Instead of being a trailer designed for a motion picture, The Invincible Iron Man is designed to be the opening credits to a TV show. That being said, this looks like one hell of a show! Right from the start this trailer grabs you by the short and curlies and takes you for a ride on a visual roller coaster. With it's CGI to rival stuff by the Big Boys, to it's perfect casting, this baby is near flawless. I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical about an Iron Man Fan Film when I first got the news, due to obvious reasons, authentic looking Iron Man armor, special effects, etc., but after viewing this amazing piece of work I am fully convinced that Fan Film creators are capable of just about anything. Iron Man looks just as as impressive as his counterpart from the upcoming Paramount film. and the stunning display of CGI work leads you to believe that this guy must have spent some serious coin on this project, nuh-uh... Incredibly, Mr.Guivant  made this film over a couple of years utilizing a shoestring budget, and the help of a small supporting crew. If that's not enough to float your boat their are also appearances from several Marvel Comics favorites in the film, including Nick Fury, Ms. Marvel, Black Widow, and Ol' Shell-Heads arch nemesis The Mandarin! I cannot rave enough about this piece of work, so now it's up to you to watch it! Click HERE for the film. Coming from this Iron Man fan in particular, I'd like to personally thank you Mr. Guivant for this amazing homage to one of Comicdoms greatest heroes. Awesome!

GREEN LANTERN:NEW DAWN- Finally after 3 long years this Green Lantern Fan Film by Director's Brian Tomaselli, Scott Schlosser, and Calamity House Production see's the light of day! In the same vein as Grayson, Green Lantern:New Dawn is an extended trailer, for lack of a better term. The trailer takes us from the day Kyle Rayner (played by Garrett Saczawa) receives his Power Ring from Ganthet, all the way up to His girlfriends tragic murder at the hands of Major Force. The trailer is well paced, and featues some fluid action sequences. The Power Ring effects looked especially impressive, while other effects needed some work. We see the birth of a hero, as well has his struggle to find himself again all within the span of a few short minutes, in other words..the trailer did it's job. Although I would have loved to have seen a full length Fan Film from Calamity House, this trailer wasn't totally dissapointing so I'm not going to complain. My personal highlight picks of the trailer include well done costume work, and a standout performance from Ray Goodwin as the extra maniacal Major Force. Fanboys will also be happy to hear that there are special appearances from Batman, John Stewart, Donna Troy, and The Shade in the film. Good job guys, congratz on all of your long and hard work finally producing a finished product! To see GL:New Dawn visit the official website HERE. While you're there also be sure to check out blooper reels, teasers, and extra footage from the trailer.

aquamanposter.jpg

AQUAMAN - With recent appearances on the hit TV series Smallville, and his own TV pilot, Aquaman seems to be making moves to conquer the surface world as of late. Aquaman finds Himself in front of the camera once again in this new Fan Film from Director Chuck Peters, Pure Thought Films, and Valley Video Services. The film, taking place after the events of DC Comic's Zero Hour, finds Orin, aka Aquaman, wandering the lonely roads of the surface world, a brooding and mysterious drifter. Feeling lost, and grief stricken over the tragic death of his own son, Orin leaves his deep sea kingdom behind to begin an inward, and spiritual journey of sorts to find himself once again. Actor Shawn Trimble, who portrays Aquaman in the film isn't your typical King Of The Seven Seas, Orin dye's his hair brown to give him a new look, in favor of his trademark golden locks. Trimble delivers a fine performance as the troubled king, making looks a trivial issue at best. Dressed as a regular Joe, Orin drifts into a dead end town looking for redemption, instead He is once again forced to become the man He wants to leave behind. Aquaman learns of a rash of child abductions and murders in the area and decides to heed the call of justice once more. Using a form of sonar-type hearing, pulled off quite well with some snazzy special effects ala Smallville, Aquaman is able to find the location of one of the abducted children and races to his rescue. Being a proud Aquaman fan, and a bit of a traditionalist Fanboy, I found myself surprisingly receptive to Aquaman's different look, and the lack of underwater scenes in the film. You think Aquaman, you think dolphins, and sea-horses, and waves, yadda yadda, but since this film is about new beginnings I feel that Aquaman's transition from a life under the sea, to a new home on the surface world was completely logical,  providing a refreshing spin on the characters mythos. The film also features special appearances from two fellow JLA members (who shall remain nameless) providing a nice way to wrap up the film. I have been looking forward to finally reviewing this film for sometime on FBT, and Mr.Peters has certainly made the wait worthwhile. From all of us true Aquaman Fans..Thanks Chuck, it's about time Orin got his fifteen minutes. To see this film you can visit the official website HERE, or you can check out the film's pages on Myspace, Youtube, and Spike. Enjoy!

Moelter as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

CATWOMAN:RESOLUTION - In this film by Director Colin Blakeston, Amber Moelter, and ALM Talkies, Selina Kyle finds herself getting bored with her life of crime and considers giving up her old ways as her New Year's resolution. Well, despite her ideas of turning her life around, Selina's criminal past catches up with her when she attends a New Year's Eve ball sporting a necklace she recently stole from a Gotham crime boss. Spotted by the boss's goons, who are ordered to take back the necklace by any means necessary, the tables are turned and this time it is Selina who finds herself the prey. Well, let me start the review of this film by simply saying...I liked it! Featuring a near perfect mix of action and story, Catwoman:Resolution stands out as one of the better Catwoman Fan Films I've had the pleasure to review on this site. Amber Moelter, who stars as Catwoman/Selina Kyle pulls off the duel roll effortlessly. Moelter moves with grace and stealth on the Gotham rooftops, and as Kyle, Moelter proves that you don't have to wear a cat-suit to kick some ass. Moelter is out of costume 90% of the film, however you do get to see her in full costume at the beginning of the film. The suit appears to be an amalgam of the Jim Balent, and Darwyn Cooke costume designs. I actually liked the decision the creators made, whether on purpose or not,  to make this more of a Selina Kyle film than a Catwoman one. Kyle is just as interesting as her feline counterpart, and with the help of a well written monologue, you get a true insight into the mind of Kyle and what makes her tick. Now let's get to the action! Being chased by numerous thugs Moelter fights like a cornered animal, while maintaining the grace of a Gymnast. I had to laugh to myself while i watched Kyle mop the floor with the Mob boss's goons all the while wearing a ball gown, Great stuff indeed. Lastly I'd like to credit the performance of Jason Fernandez who plays the hooded goon at the end of the film. Fernandez was perfect as the slimy psychopath, reminded me a bit of Sylar from Heroes, defintely not a bad thing. All in all Catwoman:Resolutions was a well made, and very fun film to watch. This one was a flat out winner, and a faithful tribute to the Catwoman legacy. Smashing good show! To see the film please visit the official website HERE.

scarlet.gif

SCARLET- SPIDER- With the recent release of Spider-Man 3 the Fan Film community has been feverishly cranking out Spider-Man based Fan Films. But this particular Spidey flick by Directors Gale Benning and Kevin Sheen offers up something a little different...This film doesn't feature the continuing exploits of wall-crawler Peter Parker, instead the focus of this film is none other than Ben Reily, a cloned version of Peter Parker created by Dr.Otto Octavius. With genes identical to Parker Ben Reily thinks like Parker, acts like Parker, shares the same powers, and holds the sam things near and dear to his heart that Peter does. But it seems that identical DNA isn't the only thing that Reily has in common with the real Peter Parker. With Parker is jail, framed for the murder of Gwen Stacy, Reily decides to pick up where Peter left off and becomes a brand new webslinging crimefighter, The Scarlet-Spider! When flashbacks of his creation become more and more vivid, Reily realizes the true secret behind his creation, a secret that will endanger the life of Reily's beloved Mary Jane Watson, and pit him in battle against the very same man that created him, Doctor Octopus! This film gets props right off the bat, simply because it features The Scarlet-Spider as the main hero, pretty damn cool if you ask me. Okay, now on to the REAL nitty gritty...The film's script is very well written, fueled by the power of Reily's inner monologue, giving you a true insight into the tormented mind of the cloned crimefighter. Kevin Sheen, who plays both Reily and The Scarlet-Spider in the film hits the bullseye with a great performance reminiscent of Toby Maguire's take on Peter Parker. Akward, geeky, and tortured, Sheen literally becomes Ben Reily in every sense. Lisa Bates also puts forth a noteworthy performance in the film starring as Mary Jane Watson. Bates is sweet, innocent, and believeably sincere, everything that MJ Watson has to be, making her the perfect choice for the role. Besides great performances from the film's main cast, Scarlet-Spider is sprinkled with just the right ammount of comic book style action, aided along with a few well done displays of special effects. Funny enough, it's the film's minimal effects that shine brightest in the film. The flashbacks of Reily's creation score highest, while Doctor Octopus's tentacles prove to be a bit too ambitious. You guys sure as Hell get points for heart and effort though. I can only imagine how hard it must be to make Ol' Doc Ock's terrible tentacles come to life. So, to sum up..the film's winning script, solid performances, and plenty of heart, make Scarlet-Spider a well rounded, well executed, and just plain entertaining Fan Film. Scarlet-Spider is brought to you by the web-heads over at Pixelution Studios, Check out the film HERE  and enter Scarlet Spider into the search bar.

shadow21.jpg

THE SHADOW-This short film by Director Chris Notarile and Blinky Productions takes us back to those thrilling days of yesteryear, but not quite...The plot of the film is simple, three bungling thieves break into a remote location to steal some bearer bonds when they are surprised by The Shadow. Although the film is quite short it is not the time or simplicity of the plot that matters here, it's the overall quality of the film and it's impression on the viewer. This film has a grip on you right from the start, with it's colorful lighting, eerie ambiance, and creeping suspense that would make Hitchcock proud, the Shadow is a truly faithful portrayl of the Golden Age anti-hero. The film takes place in the present, bringing Howard Chaykin's run on The Shadow comics of the 1980's to mind, but dosen't stray to far from it's pulp roots. The appearance of the character in the film is handeled the way it should be. The Shadow is rarely seen, and when he is he's shrouded in smoke and shadows. Top it all off with a creepy laugh, and menacing voice, and youv'e got yourself a great Fan Film. click HERE to see what evil lurks in the hearts of men....Oops, i almost forgot..the film also features a guest appearance by Civilian Justice and Ravedactyl creator Craig F. Weich. Just thought i'd put that one out there :)

fatepostermini.jpg

DR. FATE AND THE CRAWLING CHAOS - Some of you may remember Director Gary Lobstein for his Hulk Fan Film Hulk-Aftermath. This time around Mr.Lobstein takes a crack at the DC Universe with Dr. Fate And The Crawling Chaos, a film inspired by the work's of H.P.Lovecraft. In the film a young college student named Jason goes missing when He sets out to find an ancient book, powerful enough to summon Gods and unleash unspeakable evil. The missing man's family request the good doctor's help in finding their loved one. Realizing the devistation the book could cause in the wrong hands Fate takes the case. Using His magic, Fate manages to locate the young man in an abandonned storage facility. Already possesed by the books ancient spells of evil, Jason lays in waiting with more than enough power to match the mighty Dr.Fate. This short marks the first appearance of Doctor Fate in his very own Fan Film, and it's pretty darn good to boot. The storyline is simple, but perfect for introducing Dr. Fate to an audience otherwise unfamiliar with the character. John Dedeke stars as Fate in the film along with Lobstein himself as Jason. Fate's costume is not exactly the spitting image of what you see in the pages of DC Comics, but it looks good on film. Spandex probably wouldn't allow you to take the character very seriously. Instead, Lobstein decides to go with a look closer to Marvel's Master Of The Mystic Arts, Doctor Strange. Fate's helmet, provided by the good people of westerfieldstudios.com, looks fantatstic. That's important, because when you think of Doctor Fate the first thing that comes to mind is usually the helmet. Other noteworthy things in the film include it's nicely handeled use of special effects, and a cliffhanger type conclusion reminiscent of an old Republic Pictures serial. To sum up, this film has a nice multi-genre flavor sure to please a wide range of viewers, and certainly serves as a worthy debut for Doctor Fate in an ever expanding Fan Film community. worldsfinestmini.jpg

WORLD'S FINEST- Just looking at the title your'e thinking Big Blue and Bats right? Well, this isn't exactly your parents World's Finest. In this Fan Film, from Blinky Productions Director Chris Notarile, a rather unlikely alliance is formed. In the film Catwoman has taken a little break from Her life of crime, but her break will be shorter than She planned when a certain someone from Metropolis decides to pay her a visit. Newly escaped from prison Livewire pops out of Catwoman's phone looking for some fun. Catwoman wants no part of it, thinking Livewire will cramp her style. Since Livewire refuses to listen Catwoman seeks the aid of a most unusual ally to take her down, Power Girl! Power Girl is far from happy to see Catwoman, but Her promise to leave New York if She takes care of Livewire proves too tempting for her to resist. Side by side the odd couple join forces for a final showdown with the powerful super villain. To see the outcome of this battle, along with the rest of the film, click HERE. Okay, where to begin...Tawnya Manion and Niki Notarile return as Power Girl and Catwoman, and they both seem to be even more comfortable in their perspective roles. Niki shows some remarkable fighting skills as Catwoman, probably the best i've ever seen from Her, or the best i've seen in a Blinky film for that matter. Notarile also does a great job capturing the grace of the character as she prowls the nightime rooftops like a panther searching for it's prey. Tawnya Manion returns as Power Girl, and once again makes the role her own. With her perfect blend of sarcasm and authority Manion shines as the mighty superheroine. Director Chris Notarile really stepped up to the plate with this project since it includes numerous displays of special effects, uncommon in past Blinky Productions. Well, if Chris stepped up to the plate he defintely hit a home run with this one. For someone who rarely uses special effects in his films Notarile offers up an impressive array of cool eye candy. I was especially impressed with the effects used to bring Livewire's powers to life. Speaking of Livewire, newcomer Persiana Cota stars as the Bruce Timm character, and her standout performance proves to be my favorite part of this film. Bubbily and ditsy, Cota becomes a living cartoon complete with perfectly exagerrated expressions and school girl giddiness. Lisa Adam' fantastic voiceover work is the perfect topper for Livewire's appearance in the film. That's not all folks, I'd also like to give Mr. Notarile praise for the film's script. Packed with action, zany humor, and witty dialoge, this is some of Notarile's best written work. World's Finest was a bold move for Notarile, but he proves more than able to meet the challenge. This one was truly worth the wait Chris, I loved it! click HERE for the film. Also be sure to check out some cool promo pics for the film HERE and HERE. Consume!

spectreshot.jpg

THE SPECTRE - I don't know if anyone remembers a chap by the name of Sam Gardner or not, but for those who don't Mr.Gardner is the man responsible for the cool JSA (Justice Society Of America) trailer currently featured in our FBT Matinee section. Unfortunately Sam was unable to complete the JSA project, but all is not lost, for Mr. Gardner has returned with a brand new Fan Film based on Golden Age JSA great The Spectre! The film opens with fellow JSA members paying their respects to the recently departed Jim Corrigan. After getting to close to infamous gangster Gats Benson, the fiesty New York Cop is placed in a cement filled barrel by some of Benson's goons and tossed into the harbor. Believed dead to the world Corrigan finds Himself trapped in Limbo and looking for answers. A mysterious spirit offers Corrigan life on Earth once more, but He would not return the man He left, instead Corrigan would return to the world of the living as a powerful spirit of vengeance, hungry for the souls of evil and injustice wherever they may rear their ugly heads. The film explores the characters exploits over the years, comprised mainly of well narrarated flashback sequences. Particularly well done are the films Golden Age scenes. Filmed in black and white, with some grainy effects here and there, the film looks dated, giving it an authentic Golden Age feel. Fans will be thrilled to see some surprise guest appearances by some of your favorite JSA members in the film as well, including Jay Garrick, better known as the original Flash. The actor portraying the modern day Garrick does a superb job, his performance is definitely one of the films strong points along with the well written script. Giving you a little bit of yesterday, along with more modern events in The Spectre's life, the film covers much within the confines of a short film without going overboard. The Spectre's appearance in the film is fairly faithful to his comic book visage, but not without faults. Gardner gets points for making him white skinned with a spiffy looking green cloak, but the Trump-like wig on Corrigan looked hoakey, making the character less menacing than he really needs to be. In my opinion, When you want a truly spooky, and mysterious character, less is always more when it comes to showing the characters actual face. Not to say that Sam's Spectre is totally ineffective, smoke effects and vocal distortion really make The Spectre's presence known in the film, so kudos for that. Overall this film worked, thanks to a well written script, just the right ammount of action, and a distinct visual style. Since this is the first Spectre Fan Film EVER, i think all comic book fans should give thanks to Mr. Gardner for taking the time to make this film. You are truly a brave soul for taking on such a comlex character Sam, and you pulled it off! To see this film (In three parts) please visit the Myspace page by clicking HERE.

THE QUESTION ? (A Three Part Series) - Fans of the Blue Beetle were saddened when the B-List superhero was bumped off in the the events surrounding the Infinite Crisis, but don't count Mr. Kord out just yet..Director Chris Notarile offers us an alternative to the untimely demise of Ted Kord with the release of these three Fan Film shorts. In The Question? superhero/supersleuth The Question (aka Vic Sage) becomes particularly fascinated with Kord's murder when all of his facts point to a massive cover-up. The Question theorizes's that Kord's multi-universe counterpart took over his body the moment he was killed by Maxwell Lord when the universe folded over into ours, in essence, bringing him back from the dead. Since Lord, head of Checkmate, is linked to Kord's murder The Question manages to find the location of Checkmate's New York Headquarters and plans his rescue mission complete with an all new approach to getting the job done, influenced by none other than Mr. Rorschach (From The Watchmen-for all of you Un-Fanly Fanboys). Armed with new weapons and tactics will the Question be able to free Kord before it's too late? you know my stee-lo people, i never give away endings, it makes it more fun to watch in my opinion... For all of you die-hard Beetle Fans out there this film offers a pleasant alternative to the lame card Kord was dealt in the real DC Universe. If You understand the wackiness that is DC's Multi-Verse, Notarile's storyline is actually quite plausible. Being a Blue Beetle fan Myself I think i'll go with Mr. Notarile's storyline instead ,sorry DC! Brandon Slagle stars as The Question in the film and looks like he jumped right off the printed page, or straight from your televison, with a voice and vocabulary likened to Jeffrey Combs portrayl in Justce League Unlimited. With the help of some simple makeup magic Slagle's face is rendered faceless, and his image complete. What impressed me most of all about this film was the research and wit in Notarile's script, making us believe the unbelieveable. Notarile also offers a newer, more agressive side of the character in this film which i think suits him quite well, and it also serves as a nice parallel to his super-nerdy side. It kind of goes without saying but SURPRISE SURPRISE! The film also offers an appearance by The Blue Beetle. Notarile dons the old blue on blue spandex once again for this short, and once again does a bang-up job as everyone's favorite wisecracking masked guy, next to that other dude over at Marvel of course. Not much action in the film, except for the second installment of the series, but what's featured is well done. All in all i liked this film very much. Intelligent writing, accurate character portrayl, and just plain "guts" always equal a well done Fan Film, and with this film Notarile has done just that. In closing, i'm a bit embarrassed to toot my own horn *blush* but i actually make a cameo appearance in the film as a Checkmate Agent, I'm the dude in shades in case you blinked. I also had the unique oppurtunity to do some assistant camera work on the film, which was a unique, and all around cool experience. Thanks for that Chris, and thanks for this film! I'M POWER GIRL DAMMIT!!! - Tawnya Manion becomes Power Girl once more in this funny little short by Blinky Productions Chris Notarile. The plot? It's simple..We find Power Girl in a remote location just trying to have a simple conversation on her cellphone, But Bizarro WON'T LET HERI Bizarro wants nothing more than a one on one showdown with the super powered cousin of Superman, who he affectionately refers to as "Boobie Girl", but Kara won't be having any of that. On the horn with Oracle, Power Girl becomes increasingly annoyed as Bizarro makes several failed attempts to attack her. Bizarro, played by Guile Branco, is like a dumb dog that won't leave you alone, while Manion, once again, does Power Girl proud with her second appearance as the character in this film. Her perfect combination of attitude and muscle couldn't get any better. The films special effects are minimal, including Notarile's second flying sequence in a film, which isn't too shabby, and Bizarro isn't exactly diesel, but Branco uses just the right ammount of facial expressions and gestures to make you a believer. If Your'e looking for a grand, cinematic superhero epic packed with plenty of testosterone fueled action, this film may dissapoint you. If Your'e looking for a good laugh, and an eyefull of a purdy lady in spandex kicking ass using minimal effort, you came to the right place. Notarile and Manion prove to be a winning team once again, keep it up guys! To witness the splender that is I'm Power Girl Dammit!!! please click HERE and enjoy!

batmanshotface.jpg

BATMAN'S GONNA GET SHOT IN THE FACE-If the title of this film doesn't make you laugh, something is wrong with you...Once again Larry Longstreth, animator Jacob Drake, and The Bullcrank Crew, join forces, and the finished product of their combined efforts is this hilarious animated short that questions Batman's value in the Justice League, or society for that matter. Think of it as a brutally honest Roast for The Dark Knight. Through a series of interviews with fellow Leaguer's (Superman, Wonder Woman, Nightwing, The Flash, to name a few..) and funny as Hell flashbacks, Batman's character is slowly destroyed. As usual Mr. Longstreth's awesome comedic writing is the rock solid foundation for this film. The animation for the short is once again provided by Jacob Drake. Drake's style of animation is perfect for the film since his visions of the Justice League are simple, and often ridiculous caricatures of their actual comic book counterparts. I have two words people..Bat..Nipples..This animated short is yet another gem in Bullcrank's already impressive comedic crown, and i highly reccommend it. I laughed out loud A-LOT, and you will to. Check out the film at Bullcrank's official Myspace page located HERE same Bat Time..same Bat Channel...sorry, i couldn't resist. *Note:Keep the kiddies away from this one since their is some cussin'. You should be ashamed of yourself Flash!

halloween111.jpg

THE LAST HALLOWEEN:THE DEATH OF MICHAEL MYERS - It is quite ironic, yet fitting, that director Chris Notarile chose to kill off Michael Myers, in what i believe, will be his last Halloweeen Fan Film. Considering that Notarile's film, The Nighmare Ends On Halloween, a Fan Film pitting Freddy Krueger against Michael Myers, and the very first Fan Film i reviewed on FBT, is his biggest claim to fame, this film comes as a bit of a surprise. In the film Myers is found in a gloomy room, in his head are the haunting words of a departed Dr. Loomis, driving him mad. Myers has finished killing off his very own bloodline, and his darkened soul is left without direction, his powers of evil slowly consuming him alive. The idea of Myers own evil killing him off for good is a brilliant one. Myers is evil incarnate, literally making him invincible, so his own soul killing him makes for a witty short film that neatly wraps up the Halloween franchise. Like Myself Mr. Notarile is a Halloween purist, so we are both a little more than skeptical about Rob Zombie's upcoming remake of the John Carpenter classic. If the film proves to be a dissapointment, this short should help true fans of the franchise properly pay their respects to Mr. Myers. The film is short and sweet, featuring practically no special effects, or violence. It is instead, THE IDEA that gives this film it's power. Very clever, I liked it! See it by clicking HERE.

hourman2.jpg

HOURMAN - All us true Fanboys and Fangirls know that DC Comics hero Hourman has powers that only last one hour, with that in mind imagine if He were given the same drug from the Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor film Crank, a drug that depletes the body of adrenalline, making slowing down fatal, and ultimately killing him after an hour. That is the clever premise of this Hourman/Crank fan film by Blinky Productions Director Chris Notarile. In the film Hourman finds himself the prisoner of a low level thug and his henchman in an abandonned warehouse. Thinking of how he has found the perfect, and most ironic way to kill the hero the thug let's him go after injecting him, and that's just the beginning...Hourman takes a multiple dose of his power pills giving him more adrenalline than ever. Raging with anger, and fueled by his superpowers, Hourman breaks free, chasing after his would be killer, and desperate for an antidote. What ensues is a fast paced race against the clock leaving Hourman's fate literally in the hands of time. This film is short but sweet, packing everything that makes Blinky films so great into a bite sized movie. Like the movie that inspired it Hourman is a neck breaking, frantic, and dizzying array of sped up action leaving you exhausted, yet thirsty for more. Airon Armstrong stars as Hourman and provides the films impressive fight choreography as well. I was a little dissapointed to see that Hourman's costume was not as impressive as other comic book based outfits Notarile has turned out in previous films. Not a major big deal, and really nothing to do with the overall film quality, but this was the only minor issue i had with the film. All that aside this was a great fan film anyhooo...And, it's the first Hourman based fan film EVER, so if your'e a true fan don't miss out! Strap yourself in and click HERE for the movie.

crowpurgatory2.jpg

THE CROW:PURGATORY II-This Fan Film is an interesting one because it's based on TWO existing properties, One being James O'Barr's The Crow, and the other being a play named DESCIPLE: The Gothic Multimedia Opera. The film has a Crow type feel, but it eventually goes off in a unique direction all it's own. The film tells the tale of two lovers who commited suicide, ending up in two different locations in the after life. Raphael (The Guy) ended up becomming an Angel (or Desciple), and Alexis (The Gal) ended up in H-E-Double Hockey Sticks. Rather than staying in Heaven Raphael falls from grace, refusing a place by Death's side, and ending up on Earth to be reunited with His long lost love Alexis, who has also returned to the mortal world with intentions all her own. Things take a dramatic turn when Raphael is approached by a pack of Demons represented by Amir Merchasin, a sort of Demonic Attorney. Amir informs Raphael that Armageddon is a mere thirteen years away, and leading the dark armies against man will be none other than Alexis. Alexis has returned to Earth with incredible Demonic power, seeking out fresh souls to join her own army, known as The Alluminati. The Demon's promise the fallen Angel Raphael even greater powers as a Demon Warrior if He is willing to side with them in their battle against Alexis and The Alluminati, so that they will remain the dominant force of evil on the planet after Armageddon.Either choice He makes will result in the end of mankind as we know it. To makes things even worse, The Demon's aren't the only ones chasing after Raphael. A General of The Desciple Army, known as The Priest, is hot on Raphael's trail, looking to bring him back to Heaven to face judgement for sins commited on Earth. Will Raphael give in to the forces of evil, or will his soul be redeemed? This films mix of this and that made it a unique piece of work , setting itself apart from previous Crow inspired fan films. The film is full of well choreographed action and special effects and backed by a talented cast who almost seem born to play their perspective parts. Also, kudos go out to the films writers for providing an intelligent, intense, well researched, and sometimes humorous script perfect for true Fanboys & Fangirls to wrap their brain around. I really enjoyed this film and hate to label it as just another Crow fan film, not that that's bad, it's just different. For a final bit of praise, the film also features a cameo appearance from Vertigo Comics character Death, played to perfection by Nikki Hoy. This film is definitely not for the kiddies, since it features gore, language, and brief nudity, so stick it in your sock drawers when done viewing :) This film is directed by Desciple and brought to you by Torrid Productions and Bande Dessinee Films. Order the DVD directly from the site located HERE It's got some cool special features including interviews with cast and crew, cast auditions, and more. This one gets my personal recommendation, nicely done!

teensupermini.jpg

CONFESSIONS OF A TEENAGE SUPERGIRL- The Girl Of Steel comes to life once again in this Supergirl Fan Film by Director Dan Nastro & Fubar Films. Nastro chooses to go with the Linda Danvers SG which actually worked out perfectly with the plotline of the film. By day Linda Danvers strolls the grounds of her High School campus dreaming about boys, and just about everything else an average teenage girl does, but we all know that Linda is far from your average Teen. Instead she is Kara, better known on this planet as Supergirl, cousin of Superman, and dedicated foe against the forces of evil. But as "super" as she is, Kara can't seem to keep Her mind off of an upcoming date with a boy named Rick, a popular school jock and chick magnet. Like Her mild mannered cousin Clark, The nervous, and insecure Linda finds herself unworthy of a date with Rick. But plans are made nontheless, and Linda is exstatic. Ditching her wig, and donning her red, gold, and blue, Supergirl heads for space to meet up with dear friend Professor Elias Thorne on His research satellite. Meanwhile back on Earth a sinister plan goes into action. A washed up children's television show host known as Officer Frank plans to take over the television studio that originally broadcast his show years earlier, before it's cancellation. With the help of three less than stand up teens, in it for the payoff, the suicidal Officer Frank plans to sign off for good live on network TV. After Her meeting with the professor SG heads back to Earth for her big date, a date that ends up getting cut short when Linda picks up news of the TV station takeover via Her super-hearing. How will Rick react to Linda's premature departure from their date?, and will Supergirl be able to make it to the TV station in time to stop Frank from carrying out His devious deed? In standard FBT fashion i am not at liberty to divulge such secrets, that's where you folks come in! Watch Mr.Nastro's film for yourselves to catch the conclusion of this exciting story. For a first Fan Film effort Mr.Nastros truly convinces you that He's been at it for years. First, let's start with the excellent casting..Katie Norris, with Her wholesome, girl next door looks is the perfect Linda Danvers, and with the flip of a switch, and change of wardrobe, Norris becomes just a noble, and striking, as Her comic book counterpart, The mighty Supergirl! Norris also exhibits one of the biggest trademarks of Supergirl in this short, Her undying compassion for all of those less fortunate. Norris really makes the role her own in this film, keeping me eager for yet another Supergirl Fan Film starring the talented young actress (Get crackin' Dan!). Other noteable performance honors go to James McDonnell who stars as the down and out Officer Frank McDonald. McDonnell actually makes you feel bad for the Bad Guy. McDonnell's moving performance as the mentally troubled Officer Frank makes you question if He is really such a bad person after all. In the clean-up spot We have Gary Gerani who is the perfect fit as Professor Thorne, Supergirl's kindly and supportive friend. besides the right people to fill the roles, Mr. Nastro also managed to find the right people for the job behind the scenes..The special effects in this Fan Film are hands down some of the best, if not THE best I've ever seen in a Superman related Fan Film. From Supergril's heat vision, to Her flying scenes, the effects in the film, provided by Random FX Studios, really add the cherry on top of this baby. You did not dissapoint Mr. Nastro, High fives all around! To check out the film visit the official Myspace page HERE.

SMALLVILLE:REBIRTH-Since I am the biggest Smallville Geek in the whole wide Fanboy World, and due to the fact there are virtually no Smallville Fan Films out there, I was more than happy to receive word of this little gem from Director's Carly Spade and Lindsey Johnson. "Smallville Rebirth" is essentially an original sequence shot in the style of Smallville's first scene before the opening credits. In the short Chloe Sullivan (played by Lindsey Johnson) is visiting the Kent Farm waiting for Clark when She is paid an unexpected visit from Her cousin Lois Lane (played by Carly Spade). Lois has been kicked out of Her apartment forcing Her to crash at the Kents Farm. Being the investigative reporter that She is Chloe is suspicious that Lois might have some sort of crush on Clark and begins to pry. The two exchange witty banter just like the characters they emulate on the show, they also do a great job of taking on the mannerisms and line delivery of the characters. Spade especially shines as the sarcastic miltary brat played by Erica Durrance on the actual show, She also resembles Durrance somewhat. Johnson's performance as the ever vivacious Chloe Sullivan also rates high making this an all winner. The ending, or should i say beginning,  is very Smallville and will have fans wondering if they are watching a Fan Film or the actual show. Very very cool, How about a full length Smallville Fan Film ladies? I would love to see the continuing adventures of Smallville's favorite cousins once again, I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one who feels this way. This short, brought to You by Fangirl Films, can be viewed by clicking HERE.

bbposterwa2.jpg

BATMAN BEYOND:PATH OF DESTRUCTION- This film by Director Travis Landry, Landry Productions, and WillStudios999 is based on New Gotham's Dark Knight of the future, Terry McGiness. After Terry's mask is damaged in a battle with the gang calling themselves "The Jokers" He is forced to settle for a rather primitive disguise while Bruce Wayne, Gotham's original Batman, fixes His original model in the Batcave. While on a routine patrol of New Gotham's mean streets Terry encounters a powerful new gang, "The Elite".The Elite threaten to destroy Gotham City, only Batman stands in the way of their fiendish plot. But it seems There is much more to this new Gang than meets the eye when it's discovered that the Gangs leader (Andrew Mitchell) is the son of a mentally disturbed career criminal BruceWayne fought in the past during His days as The Caped Crusader. With this shocking realization Secrets will be revealed, and the lives of both Terry McGiness and Bruce Wayne will hang in the balance. I would like to begin the review portion of this write-up by stating that (in my humble opinion) ANYONE taking on a Batman Beyond based project has got some serious guts. New Gotham is a Hi-Tech world that's a far cry from the city's olden days, and pulling off the look and feel of the future in a Fan Film can be quite challenging. That in mind, Mr.Landry, cast, and crew get some bigtime kudos for their efforts to bring the animated series to life, although the film definitely needed some work in certain areas. Now, You all know by now that Fanboy Theatre does not believe in bashing or putting down anyone's work, but we DO believe in offering what We feel might be some constructive criticism if We think it might help. Since the film is supposed to take place in New Gotham I would have filmed it in a more urban environment, some tall buildings and busy streets would definitely do the feel of the film some justice, similar to what Aaron Schoenke did in His Batman Beyond film "Batman Beyond-Year One". I know not everyone lives close by a major city like Me so If You have to do the best with what youv'e got that's cool too. If not urban, try filming primarily at night, that would give the film a more "New Gothamesque" atmosphere. Not everyone can do this though, because a really good camera is needed to make nightime scenes even close to visible. There are several scenes in the film that are shot in dingy lighting and they are quite hard to make out, proving my point that it's not easy. Now for some well earned praise.."Batman Beyond:Path Of Destruction" does do a good job in capturing the spirit of the show in several ways..Andrew Harvell, who plays both Terry McGinnes and Batman in the film does look the part, and most importantly when He's fighting the bad guys He delivers those famous Terry McGinness wisecracks. That's key, because Terry's Batman is a much more upbeat Dark Knight (think Spideyesque) as upposed to Bruce Wayne's more mysterious creature of the night type persona, You defintely want to distinguish the two. Batman Beyond offers a fresh new beginning to the character, and You can really take some creative liberties in your film with that in mind. The chemistry between Wayne and McGinnes in the film is also well played, but I would have personally went with an older gentlemen to provide the voice of Wayne. Think over the hill and battle worn Batman, ala creator Frank Miller's version of Bats in "The Dark Knight Returns". The fight choreography in the film is probably one of it's biggest strengths, featuring some impressive hand to hand combat that's quite well done considering the films creators are quite young and realitively inexperienced. I'm really glad to see this growing movement of younger filmmakers in the Fan Film Community. Young Directors like Mr.Landry and William Phelps show great promise and give Me faith that the best is yet to come in the future of Fan Films. Nicely done! Click HERE for the films official website. nny7.gif

NNY- This Fan Film by Director Rex Hicks and His Filmgroup Revolution Films is based on Creator Jhonen Vasquez and Slave Labor Graphics smash comic series Johnny The Homicidal Maniac, a charming tale of a reclusive social outcast turned raving psycho killer. The film's script is actually an adaptation of one of Vasquez's stories appearing in the JTHM series. The film is basically a shared "special moment" between a killer and His innocent victim, a man named Edgar, right before His imminent demise. The film opens with Johnny offering His unique philosophy on life, and people in general, in the form of insane ramblings while His innocent victim is chained up to an elaborate killing device in Johnny's basement. Pride St. Clair (who plays Johnny in the film) doesn't necessarily look like the comic book version of Johnny, but His performance in the film is so well done it makes image authenticity completely irrelevant. St. Clair really has a grasp on the character's state of mind, one minute almost sympathizing with His victim, the next exploding in rage filled outburst's fueled by His lust for murder. Sam Hays also puts on a fine performance as Johnny's hapless victim Edgar. Hays is perfect as a nerdy, borderline pathetic man with just the right ammount of courage to catch Johnny off gaurd. Edgar can almost relate to Johnny Himself, having no friends or family and feeling alone in the world. there is definitely an unmistakable chemistry between St.Clair and Hays that makes for a very entertaining piece of short film. Those of Us that have read and enjoyed Johnny The Homicidal Maniac over the years should agree that this film is an effective adaptation of the series trademark blend of humor and horror. You guys should really give yourselves a big pat on the back for this one, I was really pleased with this film and I'm sure most of You will be as well, wheter your'e familiar with JTHM or not. deadshot.jpg

DEADSHOT:BETTER LEFT ALONE-In this film taking place in the post DC Comics Infinite Crisis universe Floyd Lawton, AKA Deadshot is hiding out in order to protect a friends trust. Lawton is down and out, drinking heavily, and passing in and out of conciousness with vivd dreams of what He knows best..killing. But it seems that Lawton won't be out of action for much longer when Oracle informs Him that a former aquaintance, hired by Lex Luthor's Society, is out to kill Him.
who is this friend turned traitor? Uh Uh Silly Rabbit, You'll have to check this one out for yourselves to view the shocking conclusion. This film, brought to You by David Noble (publisher of  Fan Films Quarterly), and Stormfront Productions does a good job bringing the suicidal assasssin to life on the Fan Film Screen starting with the perfect actor to play the part. Eugene A. Wiesback looks the part, although He is a little younger than the actual Deadshot His performance makes You forget all that. The small dingy apartment Lawton is holed up in adds to the mood of the film and helps you feel the characters pain. Lawton's road has been a long one, littered with loss and regret, and the performance by Wiesback reflects that effectively. Deadshot's costume in the film, not exactly 100% faithful to it's comic book counterpart but still looks good, the forearm guns are particularly impressive. Let's face it, Deadshot's costume in the comics is hard to duplicate exactly so the costume work by Renee Wang (who also plays Cheshire in the film) gets points for even coming close. The film itself is short and sweet. I would have made it a bit longer, but I guess it was wrapped up well enough to make it's length a non issue. The film also features some ambitious greenscreen work in some scenes, while not always hitting the mark it's believeable enough to get the job done and actually adds even more of a live action comic book feel to the film. To sum it up I give Mr.Noble, cast, and crew Kudos on a job well done. I only expect bigger and better things from Stormfront Productions after seeing this film. As an added bonus look for apperances in the film by some of Your favorite DC faves like Batman, Oracle, Cheshire, Nemesis, And making His Fan Film debut, Rag Doll III ! Keep it up guys! How about a Secret Six Fan Film!! *hint hint* To check out the films official website please click HERE, To view the film streaming visit IFilm by clicking HERE.

jokercrouching.jpg

BIRTH OF A CLOWN-In this short film by Director Russell G. Wilder, Jokers Wild Productions, & BGD Productions Dr. Albert Green reflects on His career, regretting His decision to treat known criminals. But there is one case in particular that troubles the good Doctor more than any other, His attempt to fix the chemically eaten face of one Jack Napier, AKA The Joker. The Doctor is so obsessed with His former patient that He keeps a scrapbook of the Clown Prince Of Crime and His murderous exploits. When The Joker pays the Doctor an unexpected visit one day The Clown Price decides to thank Him in His own special way. Although their are only two actors in this short film, the strong performances by both Men (Michael J. Kirkland as Dr.Albert Green & Jason Buuck as The Joker/Jack Napier) manage to carry the weight of the film with little effort. Buuck's Joker is maniacal yet reserved just enough to get His point across. And because He has the right face for the part, no prosthetics were used, giving Him a more natural appearance. Michael J. Kirkland, who plays Dr. Albert Green in the film, does a fine job as well playing a regretful and tormented man haunted by His checkered past. Besides the standout performances by both actors the film is also complimented by it's use of color. Some scenes shot in blue, and others shot in purple and green, really help bring that Joker/Comic Book panel feel and mood to the film. I really think Mr. Wilder, cast, and crew hit the nail on the head with this one and I strongly reccommend checking it out, especially if Your'e a Joker Fan. A refreshing and pleasant surprise, nice work! To view Birth Of A Clown please click HERE.

THE GREEN HORNET-Famed Pulp, Radio, and TV Heroes The Green Hornet and Kato are back, and this time they have their own Fan Film thanks to French Director Aurelien Poitrimoult and Apel Productions. In the film The Green Hornet and Kato are on the lamb from the local authorities after a recent rash of museum burglaries are believed to be their handiwork. The Hornet and Kato manage to track down some of the real perps behind the burglaries and make quick work of them except for one. The fleeing hood manages to get away, but not too far. The Duo find themselves in a jam once again when the fleeing felon leads them right into the hands of a new army of bloodthirsty thugs. Will The Green Hornet and Kato make it out alive? and who exactly is the real Mastermind behind the Museum heists? to find the answers to those questions and anymore You might have You must watch this fantastic film to find them out. I will start the review by simply stating that this is easily one of the best Fan Films I've seen In the last year. With all the buzz of a potential Hollywood Hornet film in the works this little slice of Fan Film Heaven gives us a pretty good idea of how well the character would translate onto the Big Screen. Manu Lanzi stars as The Green Hornet in the film and is a perfect fit for the role, carrying Himself with a cool confidence and posessing some impressive fighting abilities Lanzi does the Green Fedora proud. Patrick Vo, who stars as The Hornet's faithful partner Kato almost manages to ressurect the spirit of the late great Bruce Lee with His jaw dropping display of Martial Arts.  Everything about this film has a Hollywood feel and an ultra stylized look combining the spirit of the 60's TV series with the fast moving action of a modern day big budget blockbuster. The fight choreography in the film is amazing, some of the best I've ever seen in a Fan Film hands down, and the beautiful cinematography work in the film also sets the mood with it's comic book panel-like shots and green tinted hues. And to top it all off the retro style closing credits are the perfect cherry on the Nostalgia sundae. Being a Huge Green Hornet Fan from way back this film has made Me very proud and hopeful that Ol' GH and Kato just might be making their way to a theater near you after Hollywood gets a load of this one. Thank You Mr. Poitrimoult and Crew for this stupendous piece of work, two Fanboy thumbs way up!! To see this film please click HERE.

predatorendhunt.jpg

PREDATOR:END HUNT-This short Fan Film by Ammonite Pictures and Director Keith Olsen, is more of an eye candy treat,in the same vein as BATMAN:DEAD END, than an actual film. In short, a lone soldier is hunting down a wounded Predator for a final faceoff. Not much else to say or I'll spoil the finalle so..on to the review! Originally intended to be a school project, the film is enjoyable and includes some impressive special effects along with an authentic looking Predator that should please fans. You defintely have talent and great potential Mr. Olsen, keep up that hard work! mathildaposter.jpg

MATHILDA-Based on the cult film favorite The Professional, starring Natalie Portman and Jean Reno, this Fan Film, by Director Ron Santiano and Red Cape Cinema, takes place twelve years after the original film when young Mathilda was left orphanned after the murder of Her parents and Her beloved Leon. Mathilda is all grown up now and taken on the profession of Her departed friend becomming a Hitman (or Hitwoman) for hire. Mathilda still thinks of Leon often, Her emotions made clear through the use of cleverly interwoven clips of the original film into Her flashback sequences. Mathilda almost transforms Herself into Leon by picking up some of His old habits and even dressing like Him when She goes on Hits. This next job will be unlike any other, because this time it's not for the money, but for revenge. Check out this film for yourself for the shocking conclusion. Director Ron Santiano and Crew did a fine job of capturing the emotion of the original film through the use of flashbacks and a strong performance by Ia Villatuya as Mathilda. While She doesn't exactly look like Natalie Portman, Villatuya does capture the heart and passion of what I believe an adult Mathilda would possess. This film is (in My humble opinion) is a logical sequel to The Professional and should please fans of the film.Smart and enjoyable, this one does the job. Nice work! lawandorderposter.jpg

LAW AND ORDER:GOTHAM-This unique Fan Film by Director Jeremy Lowery and Budgetless Productions takes a different approach to your typical Batman related Fan Film by focusing on the Police Force and Justice System in Gotham City rather than the Guys and Gals in tights. When Hitman Vinny Puello aka The Fish is found murdered hardnosed Gotham Detective Harvey Bullock and partner Detective Wilkes are assigned the case. When a tip from Oswald Cobblepot (better known as The Penguin) leads Bullock and Wilkes to an abbandonned Book Factory they find themselves in the middle of a firece shootout with their new murder suspect Arnold Wesker and His puppet Scarface. After His arrest the courts debate whether or not Wesker is fit to stand trial citing His severe mental disorders as reason for a trial dismissal. Attorney Harvey Dent is furious with the court even considering the idea and You can see the roots of His darkside and lack of faith in the justice system slowly starting to grow thanks to a fine performance from Sam Seivers in the role of the man who will one day become Two-Face. Check out the conclusion of the film for the verdict. Also, look for standout performances in the film from Jason Crosby as Harvey Bullock, Drew Hepler as Bullocks partner Wilkes, and finally an outstanding performance from Adam Green who stars as Scarface's stoolie Arnold Wesker. Green really brings the role to life acting every bit as timid and harmless as His cartoon counterpart. Surprisingly, This is the first time anyone has decided to bring the Wesker/Scarface character to the Fan Film Screen and Green's great job in the role really sets the bar high. I really enjoyed this film and found it every bit as rivetting as a real episode of Law & Order. The film also scores high in originality due to the fact that it gives the long arm of the law in gotham the spotlight and actually makes The Dark Knight a supporting character. Speaking of which..look for an appearance from Batman in the film (One being a mega cool animated sequence) along with other fan faves like Jim Gordon, Jonathan Crane, and Oswald Cobblepot. To sum up..extremely well done, and worthy of multiple viewings, Great job! to see the film please click HERE.

joker3.jpg

JOKER-This latest film by Fan Film favorite Chris Notarile and Blinky Productions gives us a little taste of The Joker in His early days, a time shortly after His disfigurement, and a time when He was merely a simple Hitman, not the over the top Clown Prince Of Crime We know today. In the film Joker and Harley Quinn are sent to silence a Cop who has been investigating a local Gotham Crime Ring. The Joker and Harley use a brutal array of weaponry to get the job done, trading in His giant mallots, and squirting acid flowers for the tools of a common thug, switchblades, guns, pipes, etc. The film is short but it does what Mr. Notarile set out to do, To tell the tale of a Joker :Year One. This film's Joker (played by Bryan Bockbrader) is still a wet behind the ears straight hood, but the effects of the chemicals He took a bath in are clearly starting to have their effect on His mental state. His maniacal cackles and sinister grin give us all a taste of what's to come. Mr. Bockbrader does a fine job as The Joker, His perfromance reminded Me a bit of Jim Carey, with just a dash of the Nicholson Joker portrayl. Don't get Me wrong, Mr. Bockbrader is definitely His own Joker. Bockbrader wears no prosthetics but still looks the part in simple face paint, and His array of highly animated facial expressions are the icing on the cake. Deanna Miller does a fantastic job as Harley Quinn, and looks fabulous in one of the best Harley costumes I've seen in a Fan Film. This film shows Us a side of Harley We've never gotten to see, a true dark side. I'm glad Mr.Notarile had the balls to go that route. Since Harley is basically brainwashed by Her infatuation with The Joker, and worships the ground He walks on, She would obviously do anything the Joker asked of Her, no matter how gruesome. There is little blood actually shown in the film but the violence is intense, leaving it up to the minds eye to paint it's own bloody picture. Short, sweet, a healthy dose of the old Ultra Violence, and a smidgen of Dark Comedy..Yep, this is another trademark Blinky film that hits it's mark dead center. S.E.E.D - We all know the story of the supposed UFO that crashed in Roswell New Mexico in the summer of 47' and the Alien bodies recovered at the scene, but this film by Director P.Mander, KRE8-FX Productions, and ESP Productions tells a different tale. This film entertains the thought of what if there were different Aliens recovered from the crash site? Not Grey's (As they are often called by UFO enthusiasts) but Predators. This film takes place in the early 22nd century where an organization known as The Weyland Yutani Corporation has gained nearly complete control of the Government, their objective, The eventual buy out of the US Military. The corporation plans to use their newfound financing and technology recovered from the Alien crash site to develop the ultimate weapon for their Bio-Weapons divsion. In the film two S.W.A.T Officers on a routine stakeout suddenly find themselves face to face with a Predator. The Alien manages to escape and the Men are called back to Headquarters for a special briefing. It seems their meeting with the strange creature was no accident, it was infact set up by the Government to give the Men an idea of what they will shortly be up against. The men are bumped up to Black Op's and given a new mission. They must rescue a fellow operative who was sent for recon purposes to a location where the Government belives The Predator aliens have been conducting strange experiments on thier own kind. The two Men reluctantly accept their mission. Litttle do they know they will soon be dropped into a literal warzone where two Alien species fight for control. Well, right off the top I guess I'll start by saying Wow! This one looks mighty professional for a Fan Film. The Alien and Predator costumes looked fantastic and the special effects are top notch. The film itself is packed with Hollywood caliber action from start to finish with a great storyline that reminded Me of X-Files (not a bad thing since I'm such a huge X-Filer). When everything is done so well there is not much more to say.. Amazing job people! This is the best Predator Fan Film I have ever had the pleasure of viewing/reviewing hands down. Oh yeah, there is also a little knod to Sandy Collora in the film, see if You can spot it. So do yourself a solid and check this baby out by clicking HERE.

GHOSTBUSTERS 4-Comin' to ya from Action Comics Productions and Director Ken Goldstein comes this fourth film in their Ghostbusters Fan Film series. In this film the Ghostbusters have fallen on hard times due to a lack of Supernatural activitiy in the New York area. If that's not bad enough a strange man calling Himself Morris Garalax wanders the streets of NY claiming to be The Messenger Of Death and warning that the end of the world is near. The GB's know that their financial situation has reached a critical stage and decide to quit the Ghostbusting biz and take new jobs. While the other GB's have taken on completely different professions Egon remains a research scientist. When Morris Garalax wanders into Egon's lab one day Egon studies Him and discovers the horrible truth, Garalax is actually a powerful and evil spirit surviving nearly 200 years by switching human hosts. Realizing the gravity of the situation Egon contacts the other GB's and convinces them that the Ghostbusters must re-unite to battle this powerful spirit and His legion of ghosts. Back in businesss the GB's are busting Ghosts all over the city, but will they be able to take down the all powerful Garalax before He destroys NYC and then the world? Now for My take on Ghostbusters 4..For the most part i enjoyed it. Being a Ghostbusters Fan Myself I give the Gentlemen credit for many things including authentic looking Proton Packs, traps, and uniforms, original footage of the buildings and shooting locations used in the original films, and more importantly this film captures the spirit (no pun intended..) and humor of the original films. Now, I know some of You out there will say that the cast of the film doesn't really resemble the actual characters made famous by Bill Murray and Co, i agree to a certain extent, but that shouldn't affect your overall enjoyment of this film. Each actor does a good job of portraying their Hollywood counterparts, But I would say that the work of John Tang (who plays Egon Spengler) and Dan Schellhardt (who plays Ray Stantz) are the standout performances in the film. But let's not forget the work of Ken Goldstein (who plays Peter Venkman and also serves as the film's Director), Charlie Abouzied (who plays Winston Zedmore), Jason Goldstein (who plays Louis Tully brilliantly), and Christa C.(who plays the GB's Secretary Janine) You Guys (and Gal) all did a great job. And last but not least being this is a Ghostbusters Fan Film there obviously has to be the use of some special effects. While the Proton Pack beams and trap effects are well done, the ghosts in the film definitely needed work. Although, I give them some Fanboy points for using Ghostbusters toys from the original Kenner action figure line as their Ghosts and Ghouls. Not to shabby Gentlemen, definitely the best film in Your series.Youv'e shown alot of improvement with this one. To see Ghostbusters 4 please visit the official website by clicking HERE.While your'e there You can also check out parts 2 & 3 of their series. Have fun!

EMERALD COUNTY-If Your'e a Smallville Nut like Myself You are impatienly awaiting the arrival of HalJordan/Green Lantern in the sleepy Kansas Town. Well, with the help of this short film We get a little taste of what it might look like. The origin of Hal Jordan's fateful meeting with a strange Alien who trusts Him with His ring of legend is slightly altered for this film. In EC a teenage Hal Jordan stumbles upon a Green Lantern and ring after a glowing green meteor crashed into Emerald County soil. Emeral County takes place in Emerald County High where We meet our main characters Hal Jordan and Guy Gardner (the only person aware of Hal's powers). When a new girl named Carol Ferris (played by Katrina Schiermeier) arrives at Emerald County High Hal and Guy take notice. Carol was placed in the small town High School by Her father because of Her checkered past. Unlike Clark Kent, Hal seems to have a little more backbone and decides to flirt with the new girl. After school Carol runs into Hal working in the cafe His Mother owns and they get to know each other a little better. When heading back to the parking lot Carol is kidnapped by a masked Gunman and taken to an abandonned warehouse. Guy and Hal put the pieces together after finding Carol's cell phone and receiving a frantic phone call from Her. Using His Power Ring Hal races to Her rescue. I know what Mr. Black and crew were striving for when making this short and I felt they achieved it for the most part. The Smallville/WB style influence was an obvious featuring a teen friendly soundtrack and the Smallville rule of color coordinated outfits for the main characters (Hal wears green and white, Carol wears purple, etc.) And like Smallville the main Hero and villain start of as friends (In comics Carol eventually becomes supervillain Star Sapphire) and later become bitter enemies. Joeseph Black played a likeable Hal Jordan, But the character needed to loosen up a bit. I know this is a year one style approach to the characters, but We all know Hal Jordan as being very sure of Himself, and kind of cocky, so the teen version should be a little closer to that. But like I mentioned earler Hal seems to be less shy than Clark Kent so kudos for that. Bobby Jackson, who plays Guy Gardner in the film, certainly looks the part and occasionaly seems like a bit of a Wise Guy, but since Guy is known for being one of the biggest A-Holes in Comics He needed to turn up the Wise Ass meter a bit more. Since this seems to be the first film in a possible series I'm sure Guy, and the rest of the cast will gradually take on more of the character traits and mannerisms We all know from the Green Lantern books. This is a very good start overall, so I hope Mr. Black and Crew return with more adventures of young Hal and Friends. Also, look for some well executed special effects in the film, the sequence When Hal uses His ring to power up and take off into the sky is particullarly well done. NIGHTMARES-In this Nightmare On Elm Street Fan Film by young Filmmakers Ryan and Reece O'Connell We return to the city of Springwood, the killing grounds of the infamous child killer Freddy Kreuger. Freddy is believed to be dead and Nancy Thompson(the Heroine from the first Nightmare film)is now in a Psychiatric Hospital where She continues to try and prove Freddy's existence. When a child from the Springwood area is found murdered two young boys (Robert & Steve) believe it to be the handywork of Freddy. Local parents ignore the claims but the razor gloved killer continues to haunt the young boys nightmares. When Robert's young brother Steve is attacked in His dreams and left with claw marks on His arm as a grim souvenir Robert knows He has to take action. Robert decides to meet with His friend Rebecca and tell Her His plan when He receives some horrible news, His young friend never makes it because She has become Kreuger's latest victim. Driven by anger and the thirst for revenge Robert must faceoff with Kreuger in a final showdown. This film was an impressive piece of work coming from such young Filmmakers. The film definitely had an eerie feel and the nightmare sequences in particular were handeled well. Now for My list of complaints.. I don't know if it's Youtube or what, but the film is too dark in certain parts including the films finale. You can barely see Freddy in the film and since this is a Nightmare On Elm Street Fan Film Fans definitely want to see ol' Pizza Face. On the brighter side of things once again, I have to give it up for some solid acting by Ryan O'Connell (the films main star) and Dylan Threadgold. Not bad at all Gentlemen. GHOSTBUSTERS NEW JERSEY:LEED'S CURSE-This Ghostbusters Fan Film introduces us to a two man GB Crew out of the Garden State made up of Bill Malkin and Rich Roy. When a group of Hikers go missing while hiking through the Pine Barrens The Ghostbuster Duo thinks it may be the work of the Infamous Urban Legend The Jersey Devil. Can the NJ Ghostbusters catch the elusive creature before He strikes again? This film was short, but it did manage to squeeze in all the good stuff that made the original films so great. The uniforms and Proton Packs were top notch (they even have their own sporty Ecto-Mobile) and the humor in the film reminded Me of a mix between Clerks, Scooby Doo, and of couse the original Hollywood GB films. An interesting combination that definitely works. So hats off to you Guys, You did Us Ghostbusters Fans proud! This film is brought to you by the Writer/Producer team of William Malkin &
David Mallozzi and can be found by clicking HERE.

FRIDAY THE 13TH:JASON NEMESIS-What would it be like if The Blair Witch Project met Friday The 13th? Well, the result would be mighty similar to this film by Director Shane Drury and Elite Films. In the film three men go searching for a friend who went missing when He tried to track down Jason Voorhees at Camp Crystal Lake. The man wanted revenge since Jason murdered His sister. Overwhelmed in the maze of trees leading up to the gates of Camp Crystal Lake the three Men become visibly shaken when their guide abruptly refuses to enter into the trails of Crystal Lake. The two friends Max (played by Matthew Drury) and Bruce (played by Shane Drury) realize that it's now up to them to find their friend and possibly take out Jason if they can track Him down. This film follows the Friday The 13th formula to the "T", you know..one guy gets killed, than another, and another, and It's one guy or gal left to take on Jason. but it needed some fine tuning in spots..First off the film was waaaaay too long at over fifty minutes and needed some serious editing. the beginning scene alone stretches out for over ten minutes before the intro credits are even shown. the reason the film itself seems to drag on is because it takes place entirely in a wooded area. I know it's Camp Crystal Lake and all but there are no cabins or camp like sets to be seen, leaving the viewer a bit bored. That's where the Blair Witch comparison comes in. The viewer gets that claustrophobic feeling of not being able to escape. I know that's not necessarily a bad thing since this IS a Horror film, but it's not really Friday The 13th either. On the bright side the film does feature an authentic looking Jason (played by Steve Weighill) and gory killings that definitely fit the Friday The 13th mold. There is also some nice camera work featured, one scene in particular has You looking through the eyes of a terrified man on the run from Voorhees, the camera looks up, down, and all around making You feel dizzy and panicky at the same time as Voorhees approaches. I guess You could also add a first person shooter game or POV feel to the films list of comparrisons as well. In the end I would not call this a bad Friday the 13th Fan Film by any means, but it would have been all that more enjoyable with a little more editing. PRYDE OF THE X-MEN-This short film based on the story appearing in the pages of Ultimate X-Men #21 was originally done as a class project. In the film Professor X invites Mrs.Pryde (Kitty's Mother) to Xavier's School For The Gifted hoping to convince Her to allow Kitty to attend His School. Pryde's mother is less than receptive, concerned about the School's history of violent incident's. Professor X (played by Zane Lambel) tries to reassure Her that His School's unique brand of learning is meant to be a means of self defense in a violent world. Since the film is so short I don't want to give away too much more info, so let's get down to the nitty gritty...This Fan Film IS based on characters from The Ultimate X-Men comic book series but don't expect any Mutants jumping around in snazzy costumes, the film is a sit down conversation between Mrs. Pryde and Charles Xavier and nothing more. That isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it would have been nice to at least see Professor X. In the film only X's arm is visible during His meeting with Mrs.Pryde. Be that as it may the actor portraying Xavier has a nice calm and reassuring tone and does a good job as ol' chrome dome. Sylvia Rea plays Mrs. Pryde, and although she's a little young to be playing Kitty's Mother Her acting is on point so bugger the whole age thing. Even though I would have enjoyed this short that much more with the appearance of at least one of the X-Men lineup, I do think it was well acted and and it definitely gets points for concept originality. This film was Directed by Sylvia Rea and can be found by clicking HERE.

superboyiiposter.jpg

SUPERBOY II - William Phelps is back as The Boy Of Steel, Don Richardson, in this sequel to His original film SUPERBOY-THE MOVIE. It's been five years since the passing of Don's Father and the discovery of His mysterious super powers and Don is still looking for answers. Meanwhile, David Russ, a neighborhood bully and criminal who Superboy placed in a Juvenille detention facilty five years ago has escaped and stumbled upon some Kryptonite meteor rocks. The rocks have a strange effect on Don, giving Him powers similar to Superboy's and a message to kill him. When Don is contacted by His biological Father, the Kryptonian scientist Jor-Gree, He is given a ominous warning that His life is in danger. Before Don can get any more information from His Father He departs, leaving Him with too many questions and not enough answers. Don will get more facts about His mysterious origin, and His true calling here on Earth from a most unexpected source. Don will also find out the true cause of His Father's death as well as His killer. Now out for vengeance Superboy must confront His enemy head on, but will Superboy be able to take down an enemy just as strong as Himself? Now for My two cents about this film......First off this sequel is definitely superior to the first film featuring new, and better special effects, improved script writing, and interesting character development. This film has a Smallville feel to it, showing us more of Don's human side including the introduction of new friends, His love for a certain girl named Laura Lane (played by Renee Weeks-Wynne), and His everyday struggle just to fit in. Phelps creates an interesting amalgam of the Superboy and Superman mythos  while carving out His own unique niche at the same time. Superboy also has a bit of an image change in this film sporting shades and fingerless gloves reminiscent of His 90's comic book counterpart. Look for some surprises at the end of the film including an appearance from a certain Caped Crusader and the revelation of a great secret. Phelps has created an interesting gallery of characters in these two films leaving Me eagerly anticipating the upcoming sequel, What more can i say but job well done! To view this film please click HERE, to view both SUPERBOY-THE MOVIE AND SUPERBOY II together click HERE Also be sure to visit the films official website located HERE  Still not enough? As an added bonus I managed to locate footage from the premiere of Phelps first Superboy film on Youtube.com, You can check it out by clicking HERE.

darkpunishmentposter2.jpg

BATMAN:DARK PUNISHMENT-This film from Sledge Films Ltd. and Director Russ Diaper has Frank Castle, also known as The Punisher, bring His one man war on crime to the streets of Gotham City when He has a few old scores to settle in the crime ridden city. Problem is that Gotham already has Her own personal protector in the form of The Dark Knight. After taking down a few low level Goons The Punisher is surprised by the sudden appearance of Batman. Batman makes it quite clear that He doesn't need any help in the crimefighting biz and He wants Castle out of His city. It seems that Batman isn't the only one troubled by the arrival of the gun toting vigilante, The Joker has also gotten word and immediately orders an army of His flunkies to take Castle out. Will Batman be able to rid Gotham of The Punishers brand of bloody vengeance? Or will the Clown Prince Of Crime get to Him first? To find the answers to these questions and more check out this twenty minute slugfest for Yourself by clicking the link below. Let Me start the review by saying the concept of this film definitely works, but a good concept isn't necessarily everything. I can definitely see a BATMAN:DEAD END influence here due to the lack of actual story and overabundance of asswhoopin's. Yep, This one is pretty violent, featuring many toe to toe street style fights and gunplay. I felt like reaching for a bottle of aspirin just watching this thing. As far as MAJOR complaints I really don't have any, I know this film was meant to appeal to Fanboy's strictly so why not give em' what they want? As for things that needed work, a change of set to an Urban environment would have given this film a more dark and Gothic feel. You can tell that a majority of the film was filmed in a backyard and that's a far cry from the dark and dingy streets of Gotham City. The costumes in the film looked on the money. Punisher always looks good in His T-Shirt and Leather Jacket, and the Bat Suit in the film was a nice change, replacing rubber pecs and abs with spandex. The films Director (Russ Diaper) also stars as Batman in the film and does well as The Dark Knight, He's even got down the now trademark gruffy Bat voice. Stefan Richfield stars as The Punisher in the film and pulls it off being natural. Even though He didn't approach the character in the typical fashion (ultra dark and ultra brooding) He made it work as an everyday Man type of Punisher. One of My favorite parts in the film is the work of David Diaper who plays the Joker. Even though You only see His sinister smile and hear His creepy cackle Diaper stills gives You the heebee geebee's. So to sum up, not too shabby, and definitely worth checking out. Please click HERE to see the film, and to check out the films official website click HERE. If You;d like to check out a special behind the scenes loo at this film (which I found quite interesting) click HERE.

superboyposter10vt.jpg

SUPERBOY-THE MOVIE (Revised Edition) In this Superboy Fan Film by Director William Phelps, Will Studios999, and Stephen Garbesi Productions The origin of Superboy has been changed along with the names of all the major characters. Instead of Baby Kal-El, an Alien from the doomed planet Krypton, The film's main character is a young boy named Don Richardson. Don is a typical  boy from a typical suburb, but all of that is about to change one fateful day. On the way to school one morning Don spots the school bully (David Russ) picking on one of His classmates and decides to intervene. After a short scuffle a Teacher breaks up the fight and sends Don home with a referral letter. On the way home Don is suddenly struck by a burst of energy eminating from a glowing green crystal falling from the sky and blacks out. When He awakens Don's body begins a painful transformation, leaving Him with a strange symbol burned into His chest. As days go by young Don Richardson begins to realize that the strange crystal that gave Him the marking has also given Him special powers and abilities. Unfortunately, even Don's powers are not enough to save His father who suffers a major heart attack and dies. A furious and grief stricken Don Richardson takes off into the sky, it is there that He will learn the beginning of His origin, and His true purpose here on Earth. I have to admit, it took alot of courage for Mr.Phelps to take the Superboy/Superman mythos and put His own personal spin on it. Taking Our Hero out of the cornfields of Kansas and putting Him in the suburbs made Him a little easier to identify with. Phelps vision is a little bit Spider-Man and a little bit Smallville which makes for a interesting and agreeable mix. Phelps also features most of Superboy's powers in the film from super speed to flight which ain't easy...the speed effect, heat vision, and super breath looked great but the footage of Superboy flying through the sky definitley needed work. I know not everyone has a Hollywood budget and the abilty to use wire work and green screen, so maybe using a computer generated Superboy sequence would have been the way to go, or to leave out His flying ability all together like Clark Kent in the Smallville series. Just some thoughts.. Mr. Phelps, cast, and crew definitley put alot of heart and hard work into this film and it definitely shows. Mr. Phelps is a talented, and dedicated young man and after viewing this film His future is looking bright. Keep it up Will! darkdescent.jpg

BATMAN:DARK DESCENT-This film by Smigiel Pictures, Debilu Productions, and Director Eric Smigiel is actually a collection of two seperate Batman Fan Films (BATMAN:BRUTALITY & BATMAN:DUALITY) pieced together into one full length feature. Dark Descent picks up where BATMAN BEGINS left off. This time around The Dark Knight is on the trail of a new and ruthless killer in Gotham City who leaves behind only one clue at the scene of every one of His murders, a Joker playing card. Realizing the gravity of the situation Commisioner Jim Gordon and Assistant DA Harvey Dent join The Caped Crusader in His hunt for the elusive killer. Tragically, during their first rooftop meeting The Joker claims His next victim, District Attorney Rachel Daws. Batman takes the death hard while Harvey Dent becomes the new DA of Gotham. An unsuspecting Dent returns to His apartment later that evening only to find the Joker waiting for him. After spilling His guts to the Joker The Clown Prince rewards Him by throwing a scolding hot pot of water on His face permanently disfiguring Him. Dent slowly starts to go mad, and His pre-exisiting split personality disorder leads Him to take on a new and ruthless persona. As Two-Face, Dent wants revenge and goes looking for The Joker and His Father, who repeatedly abused Him as a child. When The Dark Knight decides to intervene, a three way struggle ensues as Batman fights for the soul of Harvey Dent and The Joker looks to kill them both. The ending of this film has plenty of surprises and wraps up the two films perfectly so do yourself a favor and see this film today. For first time Batman Fan Filmmakers Director Eric Smigiel, cast, and crew did a a fantastic job with this film. The first real strength of this film would probably be the solid script which made for a very believeable sequel to BATMAN BEGINS. The twist on Two Faces origin was very clever, and the graphic description of Harvey Dent's tortured childhood made You understand the tragic character that much more. Matt Livingston, who plays both Dent and Two-Face in the film, fills the shoes of the complicated character quite well and gives an impressive performance. Also look for standout performances in the film from Ryan Sciarrotta as Batman/Bruce Wayne, Eric Smigiel who plays The Joker, and Adam Yancey as Commisioner Jim Gordon. Now that I'm done with the sugar coating it's time for the nit-picking...Ryan Sciarrotta did a great job portraying the Dark Knight, but the Bat-suit definitley needed some work. It was a little too obvious that the costume was store bought at certain points in the film, but Mr.Smigiel did the smart thing by keeping Batman mostly in shadows. The costume wasn't the worst I've seen, TRUST ME, and the cowl looked pretty darn good so, I guess it all gelled in the end. My remaining gripe would be that the actor playing Bruce Wayne's loyal Butler Alfred was way too young. Alfred is supposed to be older than Wayne so when it's vice versa it just looks strange. Those two things aside, smashing job by all, an outstanding first effort indeed! I can only see bigger and better things from Mr. Smigiel and crew in the future. CATWOMAN:THE DIAMOND EXCHANGE-This is Director Chris R. Notarile's second crack at Catwoman and this one really leaves a mark. The Diamond Exchange opens with a scared thief on the run followed closely behind by Catwoman. The Thief has a bag containing a rare diamond, previously stolen by Catwoman from the Gotham Museum Of Natural History, and Catwoman wants it back. After a fierce hand to hand battle with the thief and two of His partners Catwoman is victorious and claims Her prize once again. Catwoman's new object of affection is not just any old diamond, the diamond, named The Eye, is an extremely rare gem worth over four hundred million dollars, and it's previous owner wants it back at any cost. Tanaka, a creepy Japanese Crimelord, hires Deadshot, one of the best Hitmen in the biz to get His beloved treasure back. The remainder of the film features spectacular fight scenes and a car chase that looks like it came straight outta Hollywood, Mr. Notarile raised the bar with this one. What stands out the most is the incredible fight choreography, the best I've seen in any of Notarile's previous films, provided by Emmanuel Brown. Niki Notarile returns as Catwoman/Selina Kyle and seems much more comfortable in the role, She is the perfect combination of sexy and deadly and displays some impressive fighting skills. I'm a big fan of Notarile's work, the number one reason for that is that He's always trying to top Himself with each film and this latest effort is a perfect example of that. Two paws way up!! batformulasposter.jpg

BATMAN:FORMULAS-This Batman Fan Film from Director David Spitzer, Lipstick Productions, and Crane Films has been a long time coming, and after finally checking it out let Me tell Ya, It was worth the wait! Yup, I remember when Mr. Spitzer first started working on this project way back when, He had His fare share of problems, one of which being Hurricane Katrina, so Youv'e got to give the man His props for completing this puppy period. In the film, after narrowly saving Gotham from being blown to bits by The Riddler Oracle gives Batman some more good news..The Axis Chemical Plant, infamous for turning two-bit criminal Jack Napier into The Dark Knight's greatest foe The Joker, has been raided by The Clown Prince's men and unknown chemicals were stolen. In order to stop what will certainly be a horror in the making Batman must track down the deadly chemicals and the individuals responsible for the heist. After shaking down various Gotham thugs and Goons for info leading to the Clown Prince's wereabouts Batman finally comes face to face with The Joker, Harley Quinn, and an army of the Joker's flunkies. After a fierce fight the Dark Knight is wounded and talken prisoner. Will Batman escape? Will He put an end to the Joker's ghastly plan? For all these answers and more check this film out for yourself by visiting the official website HERE. As far as Fan Films go Batman:Formulas is a lengthy one clocking in at over twenty minutes. the downfall of most lengthy Fan Films is that the material wears thin after awhile and your'e left with a snoozefest. Luckily that is not the case with this film. Batman:Formulas moves along at an enjoyably fast pace complimenting the films well choreographed action sequences and the films story within a story format (The film was inspired by great Batman books such as THE KILLING JOKE,THE LONG HALLOWEEN, and DEATH IN THE FAMILY) Besides Batman's hunt for the stolen chemicals We are also treated to several flashback sequences in the film featuring Batgirl and then Robin Jason Todd. The Man of Steel Himself even makes an appearance in the film. All actors involved with this project did a great job in bringing all of the characters to life, but the film's Director, David Spitzer, definitely shines the brightest with His portrayl of Batman. Spitzer is the perfect combo of dark, brooding, menacing, and sarcastic, all the key ingredients needed when playing the Dark Knight. Spitzer's low, gravely tone of voice is reminiscent of the animated Batman from Bruce Timm's classic TV series and Christian Bale's Batman from BATMAN BEGINS. Other standout performances to note in the film include Jamie Crane's portrayl of loose cannon Boy Wonder Jason Todd, and Emmy's take on Harley Quinn. rounding out the films accomplishments are great looking costumes(Spitzer's Bat cowl in the film is custom made along with His suit), shooting locations that made for a very believeable Gotham, and some cool CGI work featuring an all CGI Batmobile sequence. To sum it all up Batman:Formulas is a solid and entertaining piece of work that all aspiring Batman Fan Film makers should take note of. Great job David!

prednewenem.jpg

PREDATOR:A NEW ENEMY-This Predator Fan Film by Director Mazaahar Shah and Group 3 Productions features a Predator sent down to Earth once again for a new hunt. This time around the Predator is sent to England in search of prey that will turn out to be much more deadly than He first appears. The film itself is a short nine minutes, unfortunately a majority of the nine minutes are taken up with a lengthy sequence cutting between a scene of the target at home smoking butts and listening to music, and the Predators first person perspective using His thermal tracking visor featured in the films. The Thermal effect is done quite well and features all the bells and whistles the big boys used in Hollywood, but the scene could have been cut shorter to keep it interesting, and to avoid the feeling of dragging on. You really have to follow the film the first time around because the ending hits You with a bunce of stuff all at once, including a surprise appearance from another Sci-Fi Icon to rival the mighty Predator. I see where they were going with this one and i do respect them for taking on such a project, but a little more editing would have made it a much more enjoyable film. Overall the film is pretty good and does feature some well done visual effects and an authentic looking Predator suit. The film is to be continued so I'm looking forward to Mr. Mazaahar and crew turning out a film even better than the first, they definitely show great potential. jasoncampblood.jpg

JASON:RETURN TO CAMP BLOOD-This Friday The 13th Fan Film by Director Gary Mongar and MongarFilm Entertainment tells the tale of a now adult Tommy Jarvis, still haunted with the horriffic memories of Jason Voorhees and that fateful day when He killed Him many years ago. With nowhere left to turn Tommy asks His Psychiatrist for advice and the Doctor suggests a rather unorthodox solution. Tommy's Doctor tells Him that He must face His fears to defeat them and suggests that He return to Camp Crystal Lake to prove Jason's gone once and for all. Little does Tommy know that this well intentioned plan of action will lead to the ressurection of His walking nightmare. Upon returning to Camp Crystal Lake Tommy stumbles upon an old cabin, and inside He is horrifed to discover the mummified head of Jason's Mother along with a makeshift shrine. The candles around the decapitated head suddenly light and the evil spirit of Jason Voorhees rises from the dead once again. It seems that Tommy is not the only one in danger, It seems a new group of young campers have decided to spend some time at the infamous Camp, A decision they will soon regret. As per ususal I won't give away the ending but it does wrap itself up nicely in typical Friday The 13th fashion. Gary Mongar, the films Director, also stars as the man behind the mask and looks the part with the help of an authentric looking Jason costume and His ability to pull off Jason's mannerisms pretty darn well. Mongar also stars as Tommy Jarvis in the film where unfortunately, He is not as impressive. While the film does have all the makings and feel of an authentic Friday the 13th film some of the special effects and green screen backgrounds (which looked great in one of His best films, JANGO) in the film are a little too over-ambitious and come off looking silly at times. But, youv'e got to give Mr. Mongar an 'A'  for effort. Don't get Me wrong, this is not a bad Friday The 13th Fan Film, just one that could have used some tweaking here and there. I give it two and a half bloody machette's up! If Your'e a brave little camper check out the film by clicking HERE.

Stoops As THE JOKER!
stoopsjokerface.jpg

THE JOKER in JURY DUTY-A jury is gathered and they are trying to decide the fate of a young boy accused of stealing a pack of gum. But it seems this is no ordinary Jury mainly due to the man standing before them dressed in purple and sporting a psychotic grin. That's right, The Clown Prince Of Crime Himself stands before the terrified jury spitting out His outrageous views on the legal system and insisiting that the young boy should be tried as an adult and executed for what He's done. The jury doesn't have much to say, considering that they are all tied to their seats and gagged. The Joker contunues to torture the jury, becomming more and more sadistic. Joker seems to enjoy His captive audience,  knowing that He has this collection of unfortunate individuals in the palm of His hand. I enjoyed this short and Chadd Stoops put on quite the performance as The Joker. Not to over the top, Stoops vocal delivery and actions were straight up Joker reminding Me of a mix between a young Al Pacino (intensity) and Jim Carey (wackiness). Stoops wears no prosthetics in the film but His facial structure is similar to the Jokers so He looked fine with nothing more than face paint and green hair. This short was originally intended to be a Joker tryout video, sent to the makers of the upcoming BATMAN BEGINS sequel to be considered for the role. Stoops may have been turned down for the role as Mr. J, but His performance in this film is certainly worthy of honorable mention. This one was a winner in My book and I wish Mr. Stoops the best of luck with His career, Hoperfully He'll consider doing more Fan Film projects in the future *wink wink*. All involved in this film commence self back patting for a job well done. To see this film please click HERE.

JOR-EL
jorelblack.jpg

JOR-EL:EPISODE.1:THE RISE OF RAO-Brought to You by creator DJ Walcott and DMTR Comix comes this first film in a series of animated shorts telling the tales of the Planet Krypton's earlier days, and in particular, the tale of one of Krypton's greatest sons. No, not that Guy, this series of animated shorts will focus on the story of young Jor-El who will eventually go on to become Kryptons greatest scientist, and the father of Kal-El, who We all know as The Man Of Steel. The film opens with some clever shots of the planets evolution complete with a wide array of odd Kryptonian creatures, and some space warfare, which all end up being part of a holographic video presentation being shown to a school of Kryptonian students. But it seems that one student in particular happens to be absent from said presentation. Jor-El, crusing the planet in His Space Cruiser Jor-El heads home to find His furious father Seyg-El waiting for Him along with His teacher. Despite His vast knowledge of Krypton's History young Jor-El is still thought of as a slacker due to His absence in classes. Jor-El is assigned a tutor to help Him catch up on what He missed and You'll never guess who it is. Those of You who are fans of the Bruce Timm animated Superman series and it's slightly altered universe will understand, but those of You who are strictly followers of the Superman comics will be left scratching Your heads. Check this puppy out to see exactly what Ol' Fanboy Will is talkin' about. The animation in this short is slightly crude, but that's not saying it's bad. The short has a unique feel and style all it's own keeping You wanting more, and that's certainly a good thing. The only complaints I have about this short are the voicing of the characters along with some of the music and lack of sound effects. The characters sound like they are being voiced by the same actor, and that is something that defintley needs changing. A wider array of voice actors would only make this short better than it already is, And a soundtrack with more punch and less repetition would give this baby a nice strong backbone. And last but not least are the sound effects, Give Us MORE MORE MORE! When i think Krypton i think technology, machinery, the future! All Us Sci-Fi Geeks love us some cool sound effects to pieces. All that nit pickin' aside I really enjoyed this film, and I can only see it getting better from episode to episode. For a first crack at a subject as complex as Jor-El and the Planet Krypton Mr. Walcott has done a damn fine job and all of the waiting for this baby to finally take fruition has certainly been worthwhile. Keep up the great work TJ, Your'e on the right track! To see this short for Yourself please click HERE.

POWERS:WHO KILLED RETRO GIRL?-For the longest time I've felt that Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's brilliant comic book series POWERS would be the perfect subject for a Fan Film. It's been a long time coming, but someone has finally answered My prayers and made one! Thanks to Director Mark Townend two of Comicdom's toughest Detectives working the Superhero beat, Deena Pilgrim and Christian Walker, are given the Live Action treatment. One of the cities most famed Superheroes known as Retro Girl has been found brutally murdered and Detectives Walker and Pilgrim are given the case. Not long into their investigation a suspect is caught near the crime scene and brought back to Headquarters for questioning. Their suspect, a weasely and seemingly harmless man by all appearances, would appear to be incapable of taking out one of the cities best Superheroes, But looks can proove most deceiving. As the questions become more and more personal the subject becomes visibly aggitated and the true face of the twisted killer is revealed. This film was short, but it was certainly very enjoyable and, in MY opinion, did a great job of capturing the feel of the POWERS series. Both Ferny Zyserman (who plays Detective Walker), and Leesa Beck (who plays Detective Pilgrim) portrayed their comic book counterparts most convincingly from Walker's straight laced, by the books demeanor to Pilgrim's wise cracking, loose cannon attitude, nothing was overlooked. The scene in which Walker and Pilgrim question the suspect was particularly well done, the green lighting in the interrogation room gave it an extra comic book like feel and made the suspect appear even more creepy and menacing. So to sum it up, everyone should check this film out, especially those of Us who are POWERS fanatics. I hope that Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming enjoyed this film because i think all involved in this project certainly did the book Justice. Thanks Mr. Townend for granting My wish and bringing one of My favorite Comics to life! To see this film please visit Mr.Townends official website for the film HERE or You can also check it out at Brian Michael Bendis's website HERE.

nintendooldschoolrevolution.jpeg

NINTENDO:OLD SCHOOL REVOLUTION-From the minds of Larry Longstreth(The Eyeball Papercuts)and Animator Jacob Drake comes this animated film featuring characters from all over the video game universe from Nintendo NES to X-BOX. In the film The Kingdom of Nintendo is in jeopardy when Mario, one half of the famous Mario Brothers, is killed in battle by the armies of the modern day game kingdoms of X-BOX and Playstation. Luigi seeks revenge and assembles an Army of unlikely allies, including some of His oldest enemies, and characters from the Sega Universe, and readies for battle. Although the film is obviously not meant to be taken seriously it is sort of touching, especially for Us children of the 80's who grew up with the Nintendo Universe of characters only to see them virtually wiped out by the modern day game systems with their superior graphics and gameplay. If Your'e a Fan of the classics most of Your favorite characters can be seen in this film including everyone from Mega Man to Sonic The Hedgehog. The animation by Jacob Drake is very well done, flows nicely with the storyline, and takes on a very dramatic feel with the backing of the films soundtrack. This is a very cool little short overall and I definitely recommend checking it out. To see the film please click HERE. Jolly good show Boys!

powergirl3mini.jpg

POWER GIRL:THE CLASSIFIED'S -Thanks to Director Chris Notarile and Blinky Productions Kara Zor-L, Everyone's favorite over endowed Kryptonian, finally has Her very own Fan Film! After recent events, where Power Girl lost control of Her powers and wreaked havoc on the city, the JSA and JLA got together and both agreed that Kara should take a little time off from the Superhero business. Since being a Superhero is all Kara really knows She isn't exactly thrilled to hear the news. Like the rest of Us Kara is forced to enter the civilian workforce and get a real job. Kara hits the classified's and takes a series of dead end jobs where She is treated like crap. From working at a Coffee Shop to Customer Service Kara just can't cut it and the end results are utterly hilarious. Kara's frustration and canned anger is so obvious You can almost feel it Yourself. Tawnya Manion, who plays both Kara and Power Girl in the film makes a brilliant debut and truly makes the role of Power Girl Her own. If Power Girl were to leap off off the Comic Book's page Tawnya Manion is what You'd get! Complete with all the right curves, attitude, and with the amazing costume work by Chris Notarile (I think it's His best yet), Tawnya Manion is striking. Another thing to note is absence of special effects in the film. As most of us seasoned Fanboy's know Power Girl has multiple super powers yet, in this film only Power Girls strength is demonstrated in a few scenes. I'm sure their are few of You Guys out there who feel shortchanged by this, but not this Fanboy. I feel that Twanya Manion's performance alone carries the film without the use of any FX eye candy. One final thing to note are a few surprise appearances in the film including Blue Beetle, Booster Gold, Stargirl, Catwoman (all in there civilian identities), and a certain undead supervillain at the end of the film. Mr. Notarile has truly established Himself as one of the top filmmakers in Fan Films, and this film is proof positive. Hats off to everyone on this one, I had a lot of fun reviewing this film. deathstroke.jpg

DEATHSTROKE-Finally someone had made a Deathstroke Fan Film! Deathstroke has always been one of My favorite Bad Guys and seemed like the perfect subject for His own Fan Film. I'm surprised no one has attempted to make one until now, anyhoo...With that said let's get to the review! This film Directed by Christopher White, and brought to You by White Bros. Productions opens with Wilson Slade AKA Deathstroke being offered a new job by a man named Wintergreen who works for an organization called Vigilance Inc. Being offered a ridiculous ammount of money and promise of retirement from the mercenary game for good Slade takes the job. As Slade is about to leave for the job He senses something is wrong, someone is making their way towards His house. Slade lies in waiting armed to the teeth and ready for whatever might come bursting through the front door. It seems that Slade was not the only hitman hired to work that day, Lady Shiva, deadly assassin from The League Of Assassins, was hired to take out Deathstroke before He could carry out His newest Hit. Shiva enters the house and Slade confronts Her. After a vicious fight Shiva plunges a sword into Slade's chest and leaves Him for dead, or so She believes. Anyone familiar with our old buddy Deathstroke knows He is damn near impossible to kill so when He comes back to life it's pretty much expected. Now it's back to business, Deathstroke heads to the location of His latest mission, The League Of Assassins Headquarters where yet another unpleasant surprise is waiting for Him, a highly skilled killer, code name:Assassin Initiate. What follows is a fast moving, an very well choreographed sword fight leaving one man standing, and it's not who You think. The ending of this film serves up quite a few surprises, one biggie being an appearance by a certain gentlemen who goes by the name Ra's Al Ghul. Now for the gory details..I felt that this film was well done overall with a very strong opening sequence using imagery from actual DC Comics and a cool comic book panel feel. The soundtrack also score points, although using more than one song by a particular artist can be a bit risky it seems to work out okay here. The fight choreography is also quite good overall, especially the scenes involving swordplay. Now for the nitpicking...Although the actor portraying Wilson Slade (Larry White) does a fine job His appearance needed some modification to be a little more convincing. Perhaps some of that spray on hair color in white and a glue on goatee, Just some suggestions.. I did dig the eye patch though, and Deathstroke's mask was well made and looked like the real McCoy so points for that. My only other complaint would be a couple the uniforms used in the film. I understand that trying to duplicate Deathstroke's actual costume would be quite a task indeed, so the use of more civilian style garb for Slade in the film is excuseable, But I would definitely have used a more Militaristic style uniform (all black) complete with combat boots. Sneakers never look good in a Fan Film, especially on the main characters. Some other things to note are the ressurection sequences when Deathstroke comes back to life (Very cool), and the final scene looks great on film with the use of some simple candle lighting. Nice job Chris White and Co.This film is proof that Deathstroke makes perfect Fan Film material. To see the film for Yourself please click HERE.

catwomanprinc1mini.jpg

CATWOMAN:PRINCIPLES-Coming at You from Director Chris Notarile and Blinky Productions is this Catwoman Fan Film based on the Jim Balent vision of the character who first appeared in the comics in Her purple duds in 1993. In this film We meet a rather bored Selina Kyle (played by Niki Notarile) searching for some way to get through yet another night of Bad TV and loneliness. Well, when Your'e one of the most skilled Cat Burglars in Gotham who just so happens to have incredible reflexes and agility one solution would be to put on Your face so to speak. Dressing up in Her Catwoman suit Selina hits the rooftops of Gotham looking to have a little fun. Catwoman manages to break into a Penthouse window and discovers some precious trinkets that catch Her eye. As She oggles Her new found treasures She hears a noise. It seems that Ms. Kyle isn't the only one interested in the contents of the exclusive Penthouse apartment. A team of clumsy, inexperienced Cat Burglars fumble their way into the apartment with all the grace of a Bull in a China Shop. hiding in the shadows Catwoman rolls Her eyes, utterly disgusted with the rookie Burglars sloppy techniques. When She's finally had enough Catwoman confronts the Burglars and begins to take them on one by one. The fight scenes that follow are fast and furious leaving the viewer needing a neck brace, We finally get to see the truly violent side of Selina Kyle as She breaks bones and serves up multiple cans of whoopass. Niki Notarile's plays a cocky, sultry, and mischievous Catwoman who is a fine representation of Her Comic Book counterpart and makes purple look mighty good! What makes Mrs. Notarile's performance as Catwoman stand out from some of the others I've seen in both Fan Film and Hollywood interpretations is Her lack of vunerabilty as the character. Selina Kyle is often portrayed as being weak or helpless before She dons Her Catwoman suit. In CATWOMAN:PRINCIPLES Mrs. Notarile is a take no nonsense gal from the opening scene to the finish of the film. Director Chris Noraile has truly done His homework and it shows. Inside sources tell Me that even Jim Balent Himself digs this film and that's sayin' something. What more is there to say but yet another fine piece of work from Blinky Productions! I look forward to seeing more of Niki Notarile's work after Her fine performance in this film. Speaking of which, check out Chris Notarile's newest film POWER GIRL:THE CLASSIFIED'S for a special appearance by Niki as Selina Kyle. If You'd like to find out more about Niki Notarile You can visit Her website HERE , and to see CATWOMAN:PRINCIPLES please click HERE.

supermanf.jpg

THE LEGEND OF SUPERMAN-This Superman Fan Film by Director Frank Palangi and Palangi Productions is told in two parts. In the film Superman has finally returned to Earth after He is believed to be missing or dead. Clark Kent returns to His job at The Daily Planet only to find danger waiting for him. A Bounty Hunter hiding out in Perry White's office demands that Kent help Him find Superman so He can destroy Him using an arsenal of Kryptonite laced weapons. After the unexpected surprise The Hunter leaves and Kent realizes that He must become Superman once again. Growing impatient the Bounty Hunter later returns to The Daily Planet and kidnaps Jimmy Olsen and goes looking for Clark at His home in Smallville. The Hunter has come prepared with a special surprise for The Man Of Steel, a Kryptonite laced Voodoo Doll. Expecting to find only Kent at the Farm House The Bounty Hunter is surprised to find Superman waiting for Him. Superman must square off against the Madman and His array of deadly toys, but will He prevail? Check out this film for the exciting conclusion...Although this film has a lot of heart there are a couple of things that definitely needed work..One would be the audio, In the film the dialogue is hard to hear in certain parts, either drowned out by the soundtrack or mumbelled. I commend Mr. Palangi for using the original Superman soundtrack by John Williams for His film, but the dialogue is much more important. Also one of the most important things when making a Superhero Fan Film, The Costume. In the film Superman is wearing a store bought Halloween type costume that isn't very flattering. I know We all don't have a Sandy Collora budget for Our films, but maybe You could have made your own costume and gotten better results. Another suggestion would be to buy the costume a size smaller to give it a more spandex type fit. Just some suggestions...Overall though not a bad effort. Anyone who takes on a Superman Fan Film gets automatic points from Me. With all of Superman's powers Superman is not an easy subject for a Fan Film. Mr. Palangi kept the super power type scenes to a minimum in the film which was a smart move. Palangi also stars as both Clark Kent and Superman in the film and does good job portraying both characters. I especially liked His portrayl of Clark Kent in the film, very nerdy ala Christopher Reeve (R.I.P.). Jake Navatka, who stars as Jimmy Olsen in the film also looks the part and does the character justice. Some other things to note, great opening sequence which takes place in Smallville. The film also uses footage from the original Superman film along with John Williams timeless musical score. Lastly being a Fanboy I was happy to hear the name of Barry Allen mentioned in the film (nice!) Overall, I enjoyed this film despite My gripes mentioned earlier. Being a huge Superman Fan I am always happy to see a new Superman Fan Film pop up. Not too shabby.. To see the film for Yourself please click HERE.

escbigtroubposter.jpg

ESCAPE BIG TROUBLE IN NEW JERSEY- This film by Director Chris Notarile and Blinky Productions is a Fan Film featuring two of Director John Carpenter's greatest cult heroes, Snake Plissken ( From "Escape From New York,Escape From LA") and Jack Burton (From "Big Trouble In Little China"). The film takes place right after Carpenter's film "Escape From New York "where Snake managed to rescue The President Of The United States from the clutches of The Duke and His gang. Snake is once again a free Man. And what does a free Man want more than anything after gaining His freedom? An ice cold Beer of course! Snake ends up in New Jersey and stops by a local bar for a cold one. just when He starting to enjoy His drink in walks Jack Burton, the wise crackin', ego maniacal trucker featured in Carpenter's film "Big Trouble In Little China". Jack has just gotten back from a long road trip and takes a seat next to snake at the bar. Jack glances over at Snake and recognizes Him. Snake is less than thrilled to meet Jack and tries His best to ignore Him, just then in walks even more trouble...Dredeye, son of the slain Duke and His Gang, have just entered the Bar demanding that the killer of His Father to step forward. Because of Jack's big mouth Snake is outed as the Duke's killer and a crazy Bar brawl ensues. When the smoke clears Dredeye and His Gand manage to get away, and they also decide to steal Jack's Rig. Jack wants vengeance, nobody messes with His Rig. Jack wants to team up with Snake to track down the gang but Snake has other plans first. Snake, with Jack tagging along, heads to the home of Smart Guy, an old associate of His turned rat. After convincing Smart Guy that He means business Snake stocks up on weapons hidden in smart Guys closet. Now armed to the teeth Snake heads out with Jack who is trying to convince Snake that they should join forces and head to Dredeye's hideout for some payback. a disagreement ends up with Jack and Snake going toe to toe. after the fight Jack is suddenly kidnapped after a van full of Dredeye's Gang snatch Him up right in front of Snake. Now Snake has no choice, It's payback time! Since We don't give away endings here at FBT it's time to discusss what worked and what didn't in this film. Fans of Carpenter's work should really get a kick out of seeing these two Anti-Heroes side by side, especially since both characters are played by the same actor in the original films, Kurt Russell. Airon Armstrong does a fantastic job as Jack Burton. He talks like Jack, walks like Jack, and He even nails the facial expressions. You can tell that Director Chris Notarile has a genuine love of these characters and the films because the lines they deliver are exactly like something the characters  would say. If You've seen the films You'll know what I'm talking about. Mar Omega, who stars as Snake Plissken in the film defintely looks the part, but I have one complaint with His preformance...He needed to work on the characters voice. Omega's vocal delivery was almost there, but needed just a little more to get it right. Overall though He gave a great performance and looked just like Snake with the help of Notarile's awesome costume work. Chris even managed to score a pair of boots and Tank Top exactly like the one's Jack Burton wears in "Big Trouble In Little China". Other things to note in the film include a standout performance by Ian McGrady who stars as the eccentric character Smart Guy. Smart Guy is an original character that Norarile created who didn't appear in either of the original Carpenter films and serves as some great comic relief in this short. Alfred Rutherford, who stars as the films main Villain Dredeye, also gives a noteable perfromance as the bald headed bad ass. Like Smart Guy Dredeye is another original character created by Notarile. To add to the authenticity of this Carpenter tribute Notarile uses actual tracks from the original films soundtracks along with some cleverly edited clips from "Escape From New York" at the beginning of the film. Notarile also has a couple of scenes featuring animated versions of Jack and Snake (done by Notarile Himself) which are very well done and serve as nice transistion pieces betweeen certain scenes in the film. Lastly I'd like to give some additional credit to Airon Armstrong who is also the films fight choreographer. The film features some fast moving, shoot em' up action scenes similar to the original films. Overall this is not Notarile's best film to date, but it is definitley enjoyable, and a must see for fans of John Carpenter's work. Hopefully Mr. Carpenter will get to check out this film, I'm sure He'll dig it. Nice work everyone! to see this film please click HERE.

brokenbonnie.jpg

BROKEN-This film by Director Alex Ferrari, Fortuity Films, and The Enigma Factory is more than just a short film, In this Reviewer's humble opinion it is infact  a nineteen minute piece of cinematic art. Visually stunning and delightfully unerving BROKEN takes You on a nightmarish journey into the mind of a troubled Young Woman named Bonnie and a past She can't seem to leave behind. Awakened from a terrible dream Bonnie is suddenly abducted by a mysterious, hideously scarred, Harmonica playing man named Duncan and His band of toadies who look like they just stepped out of a Comic Book villain Rogues gallery. Strapped to an old wheelchair, Bonnie is taken to a dingy underground hideout where She is taunted and mentally tortured by Duncan as His band of Soldiers look on. As Bonnie's interogation continues Her shaded past is slowly revealed. It seems that at one point Bonnie was part of some criminal syndicate along with Duncan and the others. Bonnie's services are no longer required and Duncan has been ordered to eliminate Her. Little does He know that a a rescue mission to save Bonnie is underway. Outside of the underground facility a dark figure armed to the teeth is trying to find a way in. Who is this masked savior coming to Bonnie's rescue? And what will be Bonnie's fate? Buy this amazing DVD for the answers along with a ton of special features (nearly three hours to be exact). Fans of John Woo, Quentin Tararntino, and just about everyone will really dig this short. The film features top notch action complete with plenty of Gunplay, Stunts, and Gore to rival the Big Boys in Hollywood. This film is short but definitely an achievement worthy of Hollywood attention. Alex Ferrari and crew are currently trying to shop a full length to the majors so let's keep Our fingers crossed for Him. I almost forgot to mention the brilliant performances by the two lead actors Samantha Jane Polay (Bonnie) and Paul Gordon (Duncan). Gordon was born to play a Nut Job (No offense Buddy) , His devilish grin and cocky demeanor make Him a Bad Guy You love to hate. Polay convincingly portrays a scared and tortured soul with the glowing embers of fury burning inside. I can picture Polay kicking some serious butt if She needed to.
Also props to the costume design and special effects crew for making it happen with a small budget, That's what Indie film is all about! The only complaint I have is..I WANT MORE! I really hope You Guys can sell Your full length, Best of luck to You! This film is not available for download but the DVD is reasonably priced and available at the official website located HERE. Easily one of the best original shorts I've reviewed in a long time and highly recommended.

DARK COMMANDOS (DVD) Created by Edward Gross and Tom Sanders Dark Commandos is the tale of a Black Ops team working for the United States Government called The Dark Commandos or, The DC. What makes the DC stand out from Your standard special missions force is that they happen to have fangs. Yes sir, The Dark Commandos are a team Vampires working for Uncle Sam. Comprised of three members, Non (The Leader), Dreyfuss (The Hot Head), and Torin (The Kid), and Posessing full Vampire powers (flight, super strength, etc.) The DC are truly a force to be reckoned with. Season One begins with The DC on a mission to rescue the Vice Presidents daughter from kidnappers. After an impressive chase scene, pulled off using Green Screen and CGI, the Vice Presidents daughter is rescued and unharmed. When news gets back to the Whitehouse The President is furious claiming that only He can give the word on when to use the The DC. The Vice President finds the Presidents behavior quite odd, and for good reason. It seems that He has been having secret meetings with a shady character named Timothy Jenson. Shaking things up even more The President decides that He wants to add a new member to The DC, a top female Agent named Sue Janic. This annonuncement causes tension among the DC. Non is reluctant to annitiate a new member knowing how much She will have to sacrifice to become one of them, and because of  all the pain He has endured ever since He was turned. Deep below Death Valley California Non seeks forgiveness from the DC's  spiritual advisior Father Paul before meeting with Agent Janic. Will Agent Janic join The DC and make the ultimate sacrifice? You will have to check out this DVD for the answer. I'm already hooked on this show after one viewing, it's so impressive at times that You forget Your'e watching an Independent production. A Great cast, explosive action, and special effects galore make Dark Commandos must watch Web TV for Vampire Lovers and Comic Book Fans alike! The DVD provides Us with a look behind the scenes of the show complete with special effects techniques used in the series. Believe it or not over 90% of the shows sets are virtual, using Green Screen and CGI. The virtual sets give the series a unique, and "Comic Book like" feel. Each shot reminds Me of a Comic Book panel come to life. If Your'e in the mood for something a little different give Dark Commandos a try, I'm sure You'll love it. You can purchase the DVD at the official website located HERE.

PATIENT J - So, what's the deal with The Joker anyway? Aaron Schoenke and Bat In The Sun Productions attempts to answer that very question by taking Us on a frightening trip inside the warped brain of The Clown Prince Of Crime in His latest film Patient J. A Psychologist is granted an exclusive interview with The Joker inside the walls of Arkham for a book He is writing on His life. The Joker seems more than happy to answer any and all questions, using the oppurtunity as a platform to express His views on society, His past crimes, and of course, His relationship with Batman. Joker considers Batman a brother, the heads to His tales, and the very reason He exists. As the meeting continues the Doctor becomes visibly disturbed as He starts to understand the Jokers sick and twisted mentality, almost justifying it. The film ends with a shocking plot twist when the Doctor reveals a deep, dark secret. Sorry, no Bat-Spoilers. Well, now it's time for My thoughts on the film. I'll begin by saying WOW!!This film is an incredible piece of work, and without question Aaron Schoenke and Bat In The Sun Productions best film yet. The feeling of the film is disturbing, dark, and at times quite scary. Paul Molnar's portrayl of The Joker is flawless, He looks like He stepped right off the pages of Moore and Bolland's KILLING JOKE, and His voice  rivals that of Mark Hamill's animated series work. The makeup work is Hollywood caliber, not over the top, and gives You a serious case of the creeps.
Schoenke's vision of The Clown Prince Of Crime is what Us true Fanboy's picture Him to be, a howling mad sicko. The mood of the film is captured with an impressive set, a great soundtrack provided by Aaron's father Sean Schoenke, and top notch performances by both Molnar and Kurt Carley as The Psychologist. Even more impressive are the nightmarish flashback sequences of the film. My fave happens to be one where We see the Golden Age Batman (complete with jaw droppingly awesome costume) battling Joker as The Red Hood. We also get to see The murder of Jason Todd (played by ROBIN:PUNCHLINE star Robert Tovani) This scene is particularly brutal so those with weak stomach's beware. What more can I say? Thanks Aaron, this one's a keeper! to see the film please click on the pic. For more info on Aaron and Patient J check out His interview with Our own Christopher Moshier by clicking HERE.

WONDER WOMAN:BATTLE OF JUSTICE- Time for My loooong overdue review of this Wonder Woman Fan Film.. WONDER WOMAN:BATTLE OF JUSTICE by Director Ron Santiano and Red Cape Cinema is a great little short that finally let's Us see how amazing Wonder Woman will look on the big screen. As loud as Wonder Woman's costume is it still looks awesome in this short beacuse of the Directors use of a darkened set. Battle Of Justice Has Wonder Woman go toe to toe with a group of Gangsters who are fed up with Her interfering with their plans. Not much of a story here, But like I said before, this is eye candy pure and simple. Battle Of Justice gives the people what they want, A sexy Amazon kicking some Bad Guy butt! We even get to see Wonder Woman deflect a bullet off of Her Bracelets, one of the most impressive scenes in the film pulled off with some fancy special effects similar to what You see on SMALLVILLE. Michelle O'Neil, who plays Wonder Woman fills out the red, white, and blue no problem and has the perfect height and figure to play the Amazon crimefighter convincingly. Kudos to the costume maker, the outfit looks just like artist Alex Ross's interpretation of the costume. There is a sequel on the way, and after checking out Battle For Justice I am definitely looking forward to it. THE COLD HEART OF CRYSTAL LAKE
coldjason3.jpg

THE COLD HEART OF CRYSTAL LAKE-This film by PPC Productions/Obsession Inc. and Director Joe Patnaud is one of the earliest Friday The 13th Fan Films (circa 2002) that has just been re-released thanks to the people of Timberwolf Entertainment. CHOCL is the story of a couple (Lance & Kelly) and Kelly's younger brother David who end up getting stranded in the middle of Crystal Crystal Lake's cold winter woods after their car runs out of gas. Luckily the trio stumble upon a Hunter who kindly offers them shelter for the night in His tent. Besides offering a place to stay until the morning, the Hunter also warns them that the woods they are currently stranded in belong to Jason Voorhees. The Hunter and the stranded trio have no idea that Jason is watching them, waiting for His chance to hunt and kill them one by one. I enjoyed this film because it is everything that makes Friday The 13th so great, except it's rolled up into 16 blood splattered minutes of film. We've got makeout sessions, we've got gory killings, and we've got a very authentic looking Jason making this film purdy (Yes, I said "purdy") Damn cool and a perfect Homage to the series. Nice work Guys! To see THE COLD HEART OF CRYSTAL LAKE visit Timberwolf Entertainments Myspace page HERE.

SUPERBOY-THE POWER OF EVIL-All the way from the UK comes this Fan Film by Thomas Gallagher and John Fowler featuring the current Superboy Conner Kent. When Superman finds that Superboys life May be in danger He orders Him to leave Metropolis with the help of Batman in His Batwing. Superboy leaves Bats in the dust and travels to a small town in England to lay low. Superboy notices that the town is populated by children under some sort of trance with adults nowhere in site. Conner decides to hide out at a Bed and Breakfast in the town run by a young girl who seems uneffected by the strange spell. After doing some research on the internet Superboy learns of Satania, a powerful witch who controls the minds of children and sends adults into a sort of Limbo. Satania just so happens to be located in the very town He is staying, hidden in a dorment state and waiting to awaken. With Batman's help Conner learns that the witch will indeed rise again to destroy the clone of the World's greatest Hero (We all know who that is). Will Satania awaken and take control?, and Will Superboy be able to defeat Her? You will have to see this film for Yourself to find the answers to those questions and many more ,You know We don't do spoliers on FBT :-)
The young filmmakers involved in the making of this film were very ambitious indeed. The film features several all CGI scenes with Superboy flying through the sky and even one where He takes on Bats in The Batwing over Metropolis. The CGI in the film does need some work, but if You think with an open mind  the effects are not that bad. You have to give these Guys some credit for taking on such a big project. My only other complaint is the sound quality of the film. The audio is garbelled in some parts, while other parts are almost drowned out by the background music. With a little work and the right programs the sound quality would definitely improve. Let it be known, Fanboy Will is a BIG Superman Fan, and anyone who wants to bring Him or releated characters in the Superman Universe to life on the Fan Film small screen gets My immediate respect. With all of their powers and abilities Superman and Superboy are mighty tough subjects. These Guys didn't back down from the challenge and turned out a pretty good Fan Film in the process. The film also features cameos by Batman, Superman, and Clark Kent. To check out SUPERBOY-THE POWER OF EVIL click on the pic. BITE ME, FANBOY-Being a proud Fanboy Myself I found some of this film all too real and really friggin' funny. I can definitely relate to the main character Nick (played by Jason Lorcher) and His complete and total passion for His Geeky hobby. Unfortunately Nick is a bit of a screwup and just happens to forget His dinner Date with His Fiance Rachel (played by Onico Edain) and Her parents. His excuse? Well, He ends up buying a GL Power Battery prop and tries to dress like Ol' Hal using His Fiance's panties as part of the costume. Yup, My Man has some issues. After getting busted by a furious Rachel for missing the date and..wearing Her panties, Rachel gives Nick His engagement ring back and walks out of His life. Devestated by His loss Nick seeks salvation where all true Geeks go in times of need, the local Comic Shop. Nicks's best friend Jared (played by Jerome Joyce) works at the store and seems disgusted, yet strangely amused by Nick's pathetic tale. Later, After going on numerous blind dates with some of Jared's psycho lady friends Nick becomes disgusted by the Fanboy lifestyle and blames Comics for ruining His life. Nick decides to join the real world workforce and adopts a new identity complete with shirt and tie. Will a perfectly good Fanboy turn over a new leaf?, Will Rachel ever come back?, And will Jared make anymore Kids cry? check out this film for all the answers. While most people who are not Comic Book Nerds will find this film pretty damn funny Fanboys will be the ones who will really dig the humor in this film ,complete with numerous and sometimes obscure Comic Book and Star Wars references. This film also uses some cool animated sequences including the movies intro which is a hilarious rip-off of the old Adam West Batman series opening credits. This film is definitely a Gem, packed with witty humor and a featuring a great soundtrack by Comic Book themed band Ookla The Mok. This one should be an automatic addition to every self respecting Fanboy's DVD collection. If You enjoyed this film You will be happy to know that the cast will be back for a sequel called BIF!BAM!POW!. This film is Directed by Mat Nastos and brought to You by Nifty Comics. JASON:THE REBIRTH-This flash animated short by Mike Boas and the people of Subterranea Entertainment explores the origin of Jason Voorhees and His transformation into the ruthless psycho killer that We all know and love today. Jason witnesses the decapatation of His mother at the end of Friday the 13th part 1 and is forever changed. Using flash back imagery This short is meant to fill in the gap between Firday The 13th 1 & 2 and it does just that . Using an scratchy and loose drawing style with a limited color palatte really gives this film an eerie feeling, and Mr. Boas even uses actual music from the original Friday The 13th films adding more to the overall coolness of the short. Very brave, very unique, and a damn fine Fan Film. I would have liked this short to be a tad longer, but sometimes in the world of Fan Films that can become a bad thing and ruin the finished product. Nope, this one is definitely a keeper, Awesome stuff! MR. KENT GOES TO WORK-This one minute short by Director Jon Sulzbach and Seedy Productions takes us through the normal morning routine of the mild mannered Clark Kent. That is.. until Danger calls! Fans of Superman are sure to like this one because it's short but sweet, and even uses John Williams original score for the soundtrack. This film was originally a project for Mr. Sulzbach's College Film Class which He tweaked here and there to bring You the finished product. Not bad, and a great way to kill a whole minute. TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES-All You Turtles Fans out there are probably saying.."It's about friggin' time the Turtles got their own Fan Film!" I couldn't agree more. Thankfully a talented Guy named Rob Moss and Valor XII Productions has made our wish come true. Rob's film (all done in Flash Animation) is set in the future with the Turles now all grown up and without their Mentor Splinter. The Turtles seem to have lost their direction with Splinters passing and start to fight amongst themselves. Leo tries to bring the group together with some tough love, but it only drives them further apart. Michaelangelo and Raphael decide to visit a local junkyard for some parts for a new Motorcycle and are attacked by the Foot Clan. This is only beginning of The Turtles troubles, for It seems that there is devious new experiment underway in The Technodrome using DNA from The Turtles to make a new breed of warrior clones. Will The Turtles be able to pull together and face this new threat? For the answers swing by Newgrounds.com and check out all three parts of this film for Yourself. As far as Flash animation goes this is quite impressive. As far as a feel, Rob and crew have created a nice amalgam of the current animated series and the old Turtles comics form Mirage. The action is fast, furious, and at times quite violent. The film also has a little cussin' here and there so I wouldn't share this one with the Kids. Other things to note include some great work from the voice actors and some well done animation. This series has three parts so far but after watching part three I know that part four is close behind. The menus for the film also feature some special features which are pretty cool and worth checking out. To see all three chapter starting with chapter one click HERE.

Hulk Leaps Back Into Action!
hulkjump.jpg

THE INCREDIBLE HULK 2:THE SAGA CONTINUES!!! - Young filmmaker Jon Richardson and Deleplane Pictures return with this sequel to their original film, THE INCREDIBLE HULK: MAN OR MONSTER? This time around Hulk must face off against a new sinister Foe named The Gargoyle. The Gargoyle plans to build a Gamma Missle which when launched into the atmosphere will turn the population of Earth into Gamma Zombies completely under His control. The Gargoyle knows He needs assistance to pull off His master plan so He uses a special Ray Gun to ressurect The Overlord (killed off in the first film) from the dead to serve at His side. Unaware of the Gargoyle's evil plans Bruce Banner and best buddy Rick Jones visit Betty Ross who is working on a new Gamma Laser that may be able to cure Dr. Banners transformations into the Raging Hulk permanently. When The Gargoyle sends a Robot to Betty's lab to steal the laser Banner once again transforms into His savage alter ego to defend His friends and to destroy the Robotic thief. This is just the start of Gargoyle's master plan which includes complete mind control of The Hulk, raising a Zombie Army from the dead, and finally assembeling His Gamma Missle. The Gargoyle isn't the only one hot on the Hulk's tail..A new character is introduced in this film named Detective Barnes (played by George Davis Jr.). Barnes is investigating the recent rash of Hulk destruction across the US and suspects that Dr. Banner and Gang may have something to do with the Monsters creation. Will Barnes figure out banners secret?, and will The Gargoyle turn the people of the world into mindless Zombies? You'll have to check this puppy out to get all the answers. I enjoyed this film just as much as Richardson's first and I really can see His work gradually improving here. Mr Richardson is only ten years old so what He has accomplished with these two films in His Hulk saga is quite extraordinary. Since this is a sequel Richardson appears to have gone all out to top the first film using improved special effects, more action, and a shocking ending featuring Hulk and a giant missle (that's all I'm saying...). Once again Mr. Richardson, cast & crew have proven that Fan Films aren't just for Us big kids. This film is currently unavailable for online viewing but will be very soon along with the first film in the series. To get in touch with Jon or request a copy of His film click HERE.

In case You haven't caught on, this is a very goofy film that's sure to make You laugh. I mean, where else can You see Darth Vader dancing in His underwear? This film is a short one, but fans of Star Wars, and even non-Warsies alike, are sure to get a chuckle or two out of this one. The DVD comes complete with commentary and Photos. ZOMBIES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD-From the demented minds that brought You THE EYEBALL PAPERCUTS (Larry Longstreth & Aaron Longstreth)comes ZOMBIES IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD. The film is a behind the scenes look at the making of a ficticious Zombie movie led by a smug Director named Howard Longfellow (a character who also appeared in THE EYEBALL PAPERCUTS). Longfellow takes His work and Himself way too seriously, even going as far as recruiting Mark Callahan (whom Longfellow calls the best Zomie extra in the biz) to serve as His Zombie Choreographer. As You can imagine there are many laughs to be had especially if Your'e a Zombie Film Junkie like Myself. The funny thing about the Longstreth character is that He's all too real, I mean..Have You seen some of these behind the scenes segments on DVD's where the Director is interviewed or provides commentary and You just roll Your eyes at how full of Himself He is? Get off the high horses Guys. If that's what Longstreth and crew were trying to get at here they nailed it! Larry and Crew also provide a well done toungue and cheek look at the Zombie film genre, one that was just begging to be made fun of. That whole thing about the slower Zombies is so true! Other things to note.. Aaron Longsteth provides a standout performance as Terry Longfellow, Larry's brother who's an ex-con turned B-Movie action star. And last but not least Andy Larsen is hilarious as the over the hill Zombie choreographer Mark Callahan. You Guys can do no wrong, keep turnnin' out the good stuff! Click For THE DEATH OF BATMAN!

THE DEATH OF BATMAN-This film by Director Donald Lawrence Flaherty and Irma's Place Productions begins with news of Batman putting a major damper on the illegal drug trade in Gotham City. But it seems that one such drug addict/criminal has slipped through the Dark Knights fingers..or has He? A petty thief retreats to His safehouse after looting goods from a nearby car only to be tracked down by Batman. The Thief begins to battle Batman in a good old fashion hand to hand street brawl, but as expected The Dark Knight seems to have the upper hand. That is until the thug pulls a tazer zapping Batman unconscious. Batman awakens to find Himself chained up to a crude device hanging from the ceiling unable to move. This is only the beginning of days of horriffic torture at the hands of His captor. At times the scenes are hard to watch. The Thief also happens to be a Heroin addict and He shoots up Batman with several doses of the drug causing Him to hallucinate and only worsen His ongoing nightmare's of witnessing His parents murders. Despite His torment Batman remains defiant, holding on to the last of His dignity. The ending of this film is truly shocking and will make You think a little differently about the thin line between Heroes and Villains. At times the film reminded Me of Frank Miller's BATMAN-YEAR ONE comic mini-series  which painted a sleazy, depressing portrait of Gotham rampant with drug abuse and low life criminals which i found strangely appealing. This film is not for everyone, especially the youngsters since it contains profanity, drug use, and various disturbing imagery and violence. There are truly powerful performances from both Christopher Stapleton (who plays Batman) and Trip Hope (who plays The Thief). Stapleton is just the right size and height to fill up the Batsuit which is a very cool modified version of the keaton suit in all black. He's even got the voice and brooding downpat! Hope is a believeable sleazeball almost projecting His inner torment on the viewer. This is a truly moving and disturbing piece of work that treads where many have not in the darkest streets and back alleys of Gotham City's underbelly. Very well done! JOKER DOES SHAKESPEARE! The title says it all folks! In this short film everybody's favorite Clown Prince Of Crime does Shakespeare, but not exactly in a traditional sense. Yep, Old Clowny gives Us His own unique and twisted rendition of Skaespeare's Hamlet complete with murder. The film opens with a rather unlucky fellow who dies laughing after snorting some Cocaine laced with The Joker's deadly chemicals. The Joker then proceeds to recite lines from Hamlet to the Dead Man as He parades around the room. The ending of this short film has a couple of surprises which I won't give away, but let's just say the films ending had a bit of a THE DEATH OF BATMAN feel. I thoroughly enjoyed this film which gets a thumbs up in originality alone. It seems that The Joker was born to recite the writings of Shakespeare. Matthew Sjafiroeddin (the actor who plays the Joker) Looks extra creepy. His makeup job looks like it may have been influenced by Sandy Collora's version of the character, which definitely isn't a bad thing. Sjafiroeddin also adds a great voice to the character which is just right and not over the top like a lot of other Fan Film interpretations of the character. All in all this short film left Me wanting more and that says something. The only complaint I have is the quality of the video itself. I would love to see a nice Hi-Res version of this short. All that aside..Great job all around! This film is brought to You by Swamp Media Group and Director Antonio Llapur. To see this film click on the poster.

HARLEY & SELINA - What do You get when You mix one part Selina Kyle, one part Harley Quinn and You drop them in a small room with one Shrink? Well, You get a damn fine and mighty clever little Fan Film. Straying from the more serious Batman based Fan Films this one offers a little toungue and cheek humor. Selina Kyle AKA Catwoman finds Herself locked up in Arkham Asylum with none othere than The Joker's number one Gal Harley Quinn. Since the pair of Criminals are having such a hard time adjusting to life in Arkham and each other a special Group therapy session with a Psychiatrist is arranged. The pair talk of their lives of Crime and the difficulties in their love lives. Monica Edwards truly steals the show with Her over the top, dead on impersonation of Harley Quinn. Edward has Harley's voice down perfectly as well as all of Her Quirky Harley mannerisms. Since Selina Kyle (played by Marlene Garcia Turner) can't stand Harley You all know what happens next right? The Cat Fight of the century! This film is a truly entertaining piece of work that remains faithful to the original characters. Harley & Selina is short but it's packed with plenty of laughs for everyone. Bat Fans especially will eat this thing up. Nice Work! THE DARKNESS-Creator Marc Silvestri and Top Cow Comics character The Darkness comes to life in this short Fan Film by Director Hector Sanchez and Inferno Digital Studios. For those of You unfamiliar with the Darkness here is some basic BG info...Jackie Estacado is a Mob Hitman who is chosen on His 21st birthday to inherit the power of The Darkness. Jackie can hear and control the Demons who lurk in the shadows, but sometimes the Demons constant negative influence is too much and He gives into the wicked ways of The Darkness power. This film briefly explores Jackie's rocky relationship with the Demons in the Dark and gives Us an example of the Hell Jackie has to go through just to get a good nights sleep. Writer/Director stars as Jackie Estacado and does a good job. He even looks like Him which always helps in a Fan Film. This film was made on a shoestring budget but the creative team does a good job with some spooky Demon voices and selected imagery from The Darkness Comic. I'm not a big fan of The Darkness comic but I enjoyed this film. You have to give Mr. Sanchez and His team some bigtime credit for taking on such a complicated comic for their first Fan Film. Short but sweet equals happy Fanboy.

MYSTIQUE-That's Right True Believers, A new Marvel Fan Film is here! Brought to You by Dark Moon Productions and Director Michael Ramova comes this short. bloody, and sometimes funny Fan Flick starring everyones favorite blue skinned beauty MYSTIQUE! The film opens with a rather Geeky Gentleman entering His apartment elevator and greeting a fellow neighbor who is along for the ride. On one of the floor stops a elderly woman enters. Let's just say that the woman isn't quite Herself on this particular day. The elevator suddenly comes to a screeching halt and sounds of a ferocious beast are heard outside. The old woman shows Her true colors and rips off Her disguise to reveal Her true form, Mystique! Sent by Magneto and packin' twin heaters Mystique was hired to find and kill the rogue Mutant who is now right above Her and terrorizing the two screaming passengers. The end of this one is quite violent and gory. I would describe it as taking some Tarantino style violence and energy and cramming it into a tiny can. The creators made a good choice in ditching Mystique's old white garb and going with the modern day black leathers. The blue body makeup actually looked pretty good proving that Rebecca Romaijn Stamos didn't really  need all of those scales. I hope that You Guys plan on making some more Comic Book based Fan Films, this one shows some great potential! To view this film please vist FANFLICKS.COM and look for it in the Virtual Theater. SIX-I'll start by saying that I am a huge Fan of the Comic Book POWERS by Michael Avon Oeming and Brian Michael Bendis, so when I heard the news that Mr.Oeming made His own short film I was itching(crotch not included Ladies) to check it out and review it on The Theatre. Well it appears that Mr. Oeming is quite the Indie Filmmaker. SIX is a bizzarre, artsy, and sometimes disturbing look into the world of Alien Agents (who appear Human) sent to Earth under the watchful eye of the Alien equivelent of 1984's Big Brother. Agent Six is on the hunt for rougue agents who have decided to leave the Agency. Problem is that Rogue Agents eventually become insane and are believed to contaminate fellow Agents. After tracking down the Rogue agent and cleaning up the secne Agent Six begins to have doubts and Human emotions which are forbidden and believed to be signs of contamination. Six has to make a choice and the end of the film answers some questions but also leaves the door open for a possible sequel. I enjoyed this film because of the emphasis on strong visuals. Each scene almost resembeled a Comic Book panel and moved along just as fast. Another thing to note is the fantastic display of Martial Arts in one of the films final scenes. Wow! Mighty fine first effort Mr. Oeming! What's next? a POWERS film would be nice (hint hint nudge), Uniquely stylized and Very cool indeed!

THE INCREDIBLE HULK:MAN OR MONSTER? Remember when You were a kid and You planned to make these Epic films using Your Father's video camera? I forgot how fun those days were until I got a chance to check out this film by a very talented young Man named Jon Tyler Richardson. At age nine Tyler wrote, starrred in, and Directed this film with little help from Us Grownups. The film is a take on the Hulk's early years adopting elements from the classic Lee and Kirby storyline from the 60's with a touch of the 70's TV show starring Lou Ferrigno as the rampaging green goliath. Like the original story Banner is exposed to Gamma radiation while trying to save Rick Jones from the blast. Bobby Galvin plays Rick Jones in the film and does a great job. Galvin is the perfect compliment to Richardson's Banner and makes for a very believeable sidekick. There are also all original characters introduced in the film like Overlord (played by Rachel Heckler), a demented scientist who was horribly scarred in a laboratory accident and now vows to take over the world. Frustrated with all of Her failed attempts to destroy the Hulk and obtain Banners Gamma Bomb Overlord sends Her greatest invention(a Robot named Robot-X) to take care of business. The two mighty beings clash in a battle Royal destroying everything in their path. Hulk is wounded and Betty is kidnapped by the Robot and taken to The Overlord's secret lair. Rick Jones and Banner head out to find Overlord and Save Betty (played by Mary Heckler). In the end secrets are revealed and a reluctant Hero learns to accept His tragic destiny. I enjoyed this film because there was visibly alot of passion that went into making it. Richardson's love of the Hulk mythos and comics of the Silver Age really shine through. Considering the age of the Young People involved in making this film happen and the lack of budget it is truly an impressive piece of work. Minimal effects (like green lighting and camera trickery) are used for the Hulk's transformation sequences but they seem to work and are reminiscent of Lon Chaney's Wolfman transformations from the old Universal films. Jon Tyler Richardson plays both roles (Banner and The Hulk) with equal
passion and skill. These talented Young people have a very bright future ahead of them and I look forward to seeing their work get better and better. As a matter of fact the sequel to this film is currently in development and will be completed soon. For more details on the upcoming sequel and for more on this film vsit the official website by clicking on the pic. Great job Guys!

The film opens in flashback  with Catwoman (dressed in Her older purple threads) on the run from an extra-maniacal Joker. Joker manages to capture Her, holding Her at gunpoint. Batman makes it to the scene and demands that the Clown Prince let Her go. Well, We all know how honest The Joker is when it comes to making deals...Selina breaks free and the Joker manages to get off a shot wounding Her. In a rage Batman hurls a Batarang into Jokers chest killing Him. Harley Quinn witnesses Her Boss's murder and our story begins...Mob Boss Junior Galante has taken control of Gotham City's East End and Catwoman (since healed from Her tangle with The Joker) has risen from the ashes to clean up Her city starting with a personal war on Galante's Gang. The two bit thugs are no match fro Catwoman and Galantes strangle hold on Gotham begins to losen more day by day. In a move of pure desperation Galante reluctantly hires Harley Quinn to assist Him with His Cat troubles. Catwoman's roomate and best friend Holly is kidnapeed by Harley Quinn and it's up to Selina to save Her. Without revealing anymore let's get around to discussing what made this film work for Me...Let's start from the top with the individual performances of the actors. The very beautiful and talented Meredith Riley Stewart plays a kick ass Catwoman who looks well at home in Her leather Cat Garb whuppin' on the Bad Guys. I'm a big Fan of the new Catwoman costume and I'm glad they decided to go with that version for the film. Special shout out to Rita Squitiere for Her amazing costume work for this project. Tara Flynn plays a convincing Harley Quinn who doesn't quite have the voice of the character down, but Her movements and mannerisms are right on the money. It's really hard to try an bring such an animated character like Harley to life but Tara did a Damn fine job. I'm a bit dissapointed that the makers didn't use white face paint on Harley, that has always been My favorite part of Harley's cosutme. Something about that white face paint with the black mask...anyhoo...Although both Kenneth Gardner (who plays Batman) and Michael Simon (who plays The Joker) only appear briefly in the film their performances are memorable. Simon does well as an over the top Joker whose voice and actions reminded Me of Ceasar Romero's take on the character on the 60's Tv show. It's refreshing to see a Joker played extra-campy instead of the Evil Clown version that seems to dominate Batman Fan Films these days. Kenneth Gardner was great as the Dark Knight. He has just the right height and build along with a commanding voice that really made the portryal a memorable one. The Bat Suit used is a nice mixture of the keaton style suit along with some Collora influence thrown in for good measure. Besides the acting simple things like scene lighting only added to this films appeal. The colored lighting in a certain scenes really gave it a Comic Book feel that complimented the costumes nicely. The films musical score also scores high bringing to mind the wonderful orchestral work from Batman-The Animated Series. Nice fight choreography, camera work, this one was well worth the wait. High fives all around ABM Digifilms, You have a winner! To see this film please click on the pic and enjoy!

GRAYSON-Finally My review of this heavy fan favorite is finally done! I appologize to the creators and all involved for taking so long with it and I hope You find the review worth the wait. GRAYSON is a Fan Trailer with all the fast paced action and excitement of a full length Hollywood film crammed into a trailer lenght short. The film tells the tale of Gotham City trying to deal with the loss of It's number one protector Batman. Dick Grayson has since retired from His life of fighting crime as Batman's faithful sidekick Robin but this sudden loss of His dear friend and a crimewave erupting all over Gotham has Him questioning His decision. Despite His wifes wishes Grayson dons a newly designed Robin costume and puts Himself through a series of rigorous training sessions to prepare for His new fight. Taking advantage of Batmans demise The Joker Has begun to wage a personal war on the crippled city. It seems that it's Grayson against the world as He fights The Joker, corruption in Gotham, and a virtual who's who of Superheroes including Superman, Green Lantern, and Wonder Woman. This trailer has You hanging on to the edge of Your seat with it's dramatic musical score and enough in Your face action to give You a serious case of whiplash. John Fiorella plays a convincing, matured, and brooding Robin and also serves as the films Director. This film is easily the biggest example of Fanboy Eye Candy that I've ever seen. Look for appearances from all above including Selina Kyle, The Riddler, The Penguin, Batgirl, and even Chief O'Hara! Besides O'Hara The film Has several other nods to the Batman series of the 60's including an Yvonne Craig styled Batgirl suit and a nifty looking Batmobile sporting a color scheme reminiscent of Adam West's ride. What more can I say about this film that hasn't already been said? I'll sum it up in four words...Mag-nif-i-cent! This Fan trailer was made to raise money for a full length Robin feature by Untamed Cinema and Fiorella. I can only imagine how fantastic a full length would be so I'm crossing My fingers and toes for You Guys. To see this Gem for Yourself as well as a great behind the scenes look of the film click on the Robin pic. Also visit Untamed Cinema's official website HERE for more.

TALES FROM THE CRYPT:FROM COMICS TO TELEVISION-This film is a brilliant documentary by Chip Selby and CS Films Inc. which provides an amazingly thorough history of the now defunct yet infamous Comic Book publisher of the 1950's. From the Companies conception to it's move to TV and the big screen, all bases are covered here. A brief but through background on many of the Company's creators are provided from artists to writers, but the background of EC founder William M. Gaines (Who went on later to create MAD Magazine) is given the most attention along with Co-Founder Al Feldstein who also provided stories and brilliant illustrations for the Books. Even EC's early days of Romance, Western, and History Comics are touched upon making this DVD a must have for true EC Lovers and Comic Book Historians alike. Besides chats with the titles creators there are also great interviews with just a handful of other talented individuals who were inspired by EC including John Carpentar, George Romero, R.L. Stein, Ray Bradbury, and Joel Silver. Sadly EC fell victim to Dr.Fredric Wertham's Comic Book Witch Hunt and Angry Parents all over America and the books became forgotten for many years, But Thanks to some dedicated EC Fans and preservationists most of the books were rediscovered and made available once again in Reprints and graphic Novel collections which are still available to this very day. This is one slick DVD featuring menu's that are like an EC Comic come to life complete with spooky music and all of Your favorite EC hosts like The Vault Keeper, The Crypt Keeper, and The Old Witch. The DVD is a two disc set and it's chock full of EC goodness. So stop by the official website of the film today to check out some clips of the film and while Your'e there pick Yourself up a copy of this truly fascinating Documentary. You won't be sorry.

ROBIN'S BIG DATE-This Hilarious film by Director James Duffy and The Red Headed League opens with Robin waiting nervously at a restaurant for His big Date to arrive. Everything is fine until Batman contacts Robin, bothering Him to hang out. Much to Robin's Shagrin Bats suddenly appears and everything goes downhill from there. When Robin's Date finally shows up Batman starts to put the moves on Her and pushes Robin aside. This film is short, but it's packed full of hilarious stuff.Sam Rockwell portrays a perverse version of Batman who is a more or less a complete Bastard. The cheap costumes and Batman's beard only add to the laughs. Justin Long is great as an insecure Robin who just wants His special day to go on without a hitch. You just can't lose with this film Folks, I mean.. How often do You get to hear Batman say "Hey Playa!" Thats just one of many reasons to check out this short. REALITY ROUND-UP:SUPERHERO EDITION-This short film by Director Mark Diestler and Red Giant Productions was an entry in the Wizard Magazine Direct To Video Contest. The film is a parody of reality TV shows replacing contestants with Superheroes from the DC and Marvel Universe. The Amazing Race, American Idol, and The Apprentice are just a few of the shows parodied in this short. There are quite a few funny moments like Thor disintegrating Donald Trump with a lightning bolt after He gets fired (if only someone could do that in Real Life) and Hulk buying tampons for His wife. Short but sweet and featuring quite a few of Your favorite heroes like Supergirl, Daredevil, Spidey, and The Flash. Good stuff here! GRACELAND-My review for this amazing Fan Film is long overdue, so I appologize to the creators up front. GRACELAND is a huge breath of fresh air in a Fan Film world flooded with Star Wars and Batman Fan Films. The reason being is that Graceland is both an X-FILES, and an ELVIS Fan Film, You don't see too many of either one of those around. GRACELAND tells the story of a waitress (in Graceland New York) who claims to have been impregnated by the King Of Rock N' Roll after a strange, abduction like encounter. The FBI gets the report and Fox Mulder and Dana Scully are on the case. Mulder is played brilliantly by Dan Masucci who exhibits all the same bad habits, mannerisms, and dry jokes that make Fox such a great character. Masucci (who also Directs the Film) even looks alot like Duchovny. Dana Scully is played by Donna Hayes who also does a great job of portraying Her X-Files counterpart. The chemistry between Hayes and Masucci is perfect so their portrayl of the characters are second to none. Scully and Mulder travel to Graceland New York to look into the claim and question any and all who might know something about the strange case including the woman named Priscilla who claims to be pregnant with Elvis's child. Scully of course is very skeptical about the Woman's claim and decides to do some lab work for proof positive. Mulder decides to look for answers elsewhere around town. Mulder gets a taste of Graceland's city life complete with Honky Tonk Bars and Elvis look-alike's. While visiting one particular Bar Mulder is encountered by a mysterious Man who claims that Mulder and Scully's life will be in danger if they continue their investigation. The Man tells Mulder to meet with one of His connections to hear the whole truth. Mulder agrees and meets with a man named Mr. Wai, a shadowy figure who claims to have all the answers that Mulder is looking for. Shocking secrets are revealed about Elvis and the conclusion Has You on the edge of Your seat. I can't say enough good things about this film. Attention to every detail of the show from Morley Cigarettes down to Mulder's oral fixation are covered and make this a very believeable Fan Film that remains one hundred percent faithful to the look and feel of the original show. The film reminds Me of those quirky episodes of the X-Files which made You laugh and really made You think at the same time. Eat Your heart out Chris Carter! This film is brought to You by The Masucci Brothers (Dan and Joe) and Fountainhead Pictures. The film is currently unavailable Online but If You ask the good people over at Fountainhead pictures I'm sure they will be more than happy to send You a copy of the DVD.Clips of the film are also available at the official website. The truth is still out there.

THE ISLAND OF THE ASTEROID MONSTER-Ever wonder what The Indiana Jones films would have been like if they were Directed by Ed Wood? No? (well just agree for the sake of the bit..) Well, the finished product would probably be very similar to THE ISLAND OF THE ASTEROID MONSTER. Directed by Graham Paschall and brought to You by Shaky Hands Pictures TIOTAM tells the tale of a mysterious island believed to be inhabited by a strange creature. Dr. Clayton Bennell hears the reports of what the press are calling "Monster Island" on the news and decides to take the job of exploring the island searching for any clues of the Monsters existence. With a small team of various specialists Bennell begins to comb the island leaving no stone unturned. After no success the team becomes frustrated but Bennell tells them He had a vision of the creatures creation in a dream. Not long after the prediction becomes a frightening reality and the team are face to face with the hideous Asteroid Monster. Will Bennell and His team ever get off of Monster Island alive? Well, let's put it this way..I know, but You don't so watch it yourself for the exciting conclusion. This film is an obvious Indiana Jones parody (even featuring the actual musical score from the films) but it also pokes fun at the campy Sci-Fi and Monster films of the 40's and 50's. Complete with an Ed Wood style asteroid and a rubber faced monster this film would probably have been considered a cult classic if it were released back then. Not to say that this film is any less enjoyable today since I am a huge fan of old B-Films. I never would have thought to have Indiana Jones face off against a monster but it actually makes sense in a strange sort of way. The creators deciding to release the film in black and white and using a process to make the film look grainy and dated only add to the films charm. One thing that confused Me was the use of modern day military dress and weaponry in several scenes. Hmmnn, maybe this film isn't meant to be from that time period after all. No matter, I still enjoyed this film and fans of camp and B-Films will eat this baby up. to see this film visit acidplanet.com or just click on the film pic to the right. THE EYEBALL PAPERCUTS - This film is a series of comedic parodies similar to something You might find on a public access show at two in the morning. This is definitely not a bad thing since I love Public Access TV. I guess You could consider this project a "Fan Film" since it does poke fun at just about everything under the Fanboy Sun including: Batman, Lord Of The Rings, Spider-Man, and let's not forget about Rednecks! Although I found the skits making fun of Bats and Spidey genuinely funny I feel that one of the films best skits has nothing to do with Superheroes. I have two words..JOHNNNY- McCOCKY! This is a hilarious skit about a nerd constantly being picked on by a School Bully that's been left back for over twenty years. It seems that nobody is safe from The Eyeball Papercuts Crew, look for skits on Cop Shows, Spanish Music Videos, Wrestlers, War Movies, and of course..Our beloved Superheroes. A JOKER'S CARD-From Director Johnny K. Wu and MDI Films comes this entertaining short film which pokes fun at some of the heroes and villains in the DC Comics Universe. The plot has Jonathan Napier(The Son of The Joker) joining up with Dr. Vince Fries (Son of Mr. Freeze) to try and eliminate the Superhero population. Napier demands vengeance for His years of torment growing up and for His father being locked up in Arkham for most of His childhood. Fries (played by David J. Levy) takes Napier(played by Kyle Znamenak) under His wing and with the help of a local crime Boss named Mr. Big (played by Gerry Keating) They assemble a team of goons and go looking for the offspring of their sworn enemies. Nick Grayson (son of Dick Grayson AKA Nightwing) is kidnapped and brought to the criminals secret hideout. Next Fries and Napier's gang track down Ellen (Daughter of Wonder Woman) who refuses to go down without a fight and escapes. After tracking down Grayson's location Ellen arives to save the day but finds an army of Baddies waiting for Her.However, Ellen will not be alone in this fight thanks to the assistance of Nightwing (played by Andrew Schofield) Check out the ending of this puppy Yourself for the battle Royale featuring of all things, Wire-Fu! There are many things that make this film so great, from the perfect casting, to the impressive display of Martial Arts (choreographed by Johhny K. Wu Himself!) this is one short You don't want to miss! I admire Mr. Wu for making the offspring of the Heroes "real people" rather than starchy clones of their Comic Hero predecessors. This film is also very humorous, even poking fun of itself at certain points. While this film should prove entertaining to all, Comic Book Fans will definitely get the biggest kick out of it. You know when Youv'e enjoyed a film so much that You didn't want it to end? Well, this is one of those films. THE LONGBOW HUNTER:PT.1-As a young comic book fan (way back in 1987) I was drawn to the magnificent work of Mike Grell. Two of His books were My favorites Jon Sable Freelance and Green Arrow:The Long Bow Hunters. The beautiful illustrations featured in the pages of The Long Bow Hunters were almost cinematic in nature. I always thought that a film based on the book would be incredible if put in the proper hands. Well..almost twenty years later My wish has come true! But it's not Hollywood bringing the books to life, it's an Indie Filmmaker by the name of Christopher Rayback. THE LONGBOW HUNTER:PT.1 is the first in a series of films based on Mike Grell's books. This short opens with Shado(one of the last remaining Long Bow Hunters along with The Green Arrow) Hunting down and killing Gangsters all over the city. The News reports that multiple men were killed using arrows and swords, grim signatures of The Long Bow Hunters. Local Crimeboss Kyle Magnor meets with His associates to discuss the recent slayings of His Men by the mysterious vigilantes and how they will deal with the problem. Meanwhile Shado corners more gangsters in a local hideout and takes them out in a magnificent display of hand to hand combat and swordplay. But what of Green Arrow? This film gives us a just enough Ollie to keep diehard Emerald Archer Fans happy so fear not. Everything about this film was top notch from the fantastic musical score to the opening credits which were Hollywood quality, intermingled with actual images from Mike Grell's masterpiece. Let's not forget about the fight choreography. The fighting in this movie was some of the best I've seen in a Fan Film. It never hurts to hire professionals Kids!(Take Note)Grayce Wey looked perfect as Shado. She even sports a fake dragon tattoo, a reproduction of the one Shado has in the books. Hats off to tattoo artist Gary Hoag for the amazing work! And finally Actor Harrison Young gives a standout performance as the crooked Crimeboss Kyle Magnor. What more can I say...? WOW!!! Your film was truly worth the wait Chris! *please note, there is some bad language here and there in the film so this probably isn't a good film for Kids to see. SUPERMAN VS. MICHAEL MYERS- It was bound to happen one day, As a matter of fact I was talking to a friend not too long ago about How cool a Superman Vs. Michael Myers Fan Flick would be. Youv'e got Superman who is practically invincible (except for the whole Kryptonite and magic thing) and Michael Myers who is more or less Evil itself. Now if that ain't a battle royal in the making I don't know what is! This short film by Director Matt Schorr and Lone Coyote Productions has Jimmy Olsen and Clark Kent on assignment in Haddonfield Illinois on Halloween doing a special on local urban legends. Jimmy is far from happy being stuck in the middle of nowhere but Clark seems excited about the oppurtunity. While Clark goes to fetch some sodas Jimmy notices a strange man wandering around a stores warehouse and follow Him. It seems that Jimmy follwed the wrong stranger. The stranger is no ordinary man, He just so happens to be The Haddonfield Slasher Michael Myers. Clark returns with the drinks and notices Jimmy is gone. Using His super speed Clark rushes to the warehouse where He finds His good friend dead, a victim of Myers. This is where the battle begins. The outcome is for You to find out when You watch this for Yourself. Like every Fan Film there are things here that I thought worked and others that could have been fine tuned a bit. Let's start with Clark Kent/Superman played by Jeff Duren. Duren definitely had the Clark Kent persona down pretty good, He was a believeable Boy Scout type and carried Himself like Kent. The only problem of course is His build. I know that not everybody out there are friends with actors who just so happen to be Bodybuilders on the side, so I can excuse it.Secondly, during His battle with Myers the shirt of Superman's uniform is exposed, but there is no hint of a cape. Even a little red material on the shoulders would have done the job nicely. Now for Myers..If You watch the film You will know why Myers is not wearing His trademark coverall's, so I can let the whole trenchcoat thing slide, but one thing that always bothers Me is the use knives that are obviously fake. I would suggest using a real knife for the far away shots, and a replica for the tight shots that is realistic by all appearances. I know it sounds nitpicky but It always bothers Me. The fight choreography was not too bad for a first Fan Film, but the use of certain sound effects in the fight were overexagerated. Tone down the sound of the effects a bit and it would have been that much better. All nitpicking aside I think that Mr. Schorr did a good job and I commend Him on His attempt to tackle such a difficult Fan Film for His first outing. Good job Matt! Oops, I forgot to mention the films opening credits..very cool stuff!

SOMETIMES THE HERO-Ever wonder why the Dentist leaves You stranded in His stupid chair with multiple tubes hanging out of Your mouth for so long? Well, this film written, Directed, and Produced by Brian Shapiro(which just so happened to win Best Comedy in The Paragon City Film Festival) may have the answer Youv'e been looking for. This amusing short is another CITY OF HEROES Fan Film. This time Your average, everyday Dentist becomes a mighty Superhero! Although, It's probably not what You think. The mild mannered Dentist doesn't get His powers from an enchanted Molar, or an Adamantium drill. This Dentist becomes someone else by playing a game. It seems that the Dentist gets so into His gameplaying that He imagines Himself actually becoming His favorite character taking on the Baddies of Paragon City. Of course when it's all over and the Supervillains are safely locked away it's back to a life of spit and cavities. You almost feel sorry for Him don't You? This is a clever little short that should appeal to the closet Superhero inside Us all. Nice work!

Click For THE JUSTICE AVENGERS !

JUSTICE AVENGERS-This short is a flash animated cartoon by Pete Mitchell inspired by the popular game CITY OF HEROES. Since this is a City Of Heores Fan Film the story takes place in Paragon City and tells the tale of a group of crime fighters (Rex Havok, Dreamin' Jeanie, Freezeon, and Omurasaki)also known as THE JUSTICE AVENGERS. It seems that a turf war between two rival Paragon city gangs has erupted leaving the citizens living in fear. The Mayor calls for The Justice Avengers to put an end to the war by capturing one of the gangs leaders from His base of operations. It's a dangerous job but it's all in a days work for a group of Superheroes. Check out this cool little short to see who reigns supreme in Paragon City. Mr. Mitchell has given this film it's own unique feel, using crudely styled animation and creating all of the sound effects using only His mouth. The short is also quite funny, featuring plenty of Kung-Fu/Superhero humor. This film reminded Me of that cartoon series THE SPECIALISTS which was featured on MTV's LIQUID TELEVISION a few years back. Since I liked that show it's only natural that I enjoyed THE JUSTICE AVENGERS as well. Mr. Mitchell could have taken the traditional Saturday morning style of animation route to tell His tale of a group of Superheroes but He didn't, and for that I salute Him.

BATMAN:REVENGE-Hold on to Your Bat Hats! This film is sure to make You say "How the Hell did He pull this off !?!" Coming to You from Producer & Director Jonathan Markiewitz is this all Lego stop motion film BATMAN:REVENGE. The story begins with The Riddler breaking out of Arkham Asylum. Once The Riddler and His crew return to the streets of Gotham they begin to wreak havoc as they rob the citizens blind. The Riddler has invented a new experimental brain device which He plans to use on innocent victims to test out. The city of Gotham knows that the only person capable of stopping Riddler and His gang of thugs is The Caped Crusader Himself, Batman! Batman races to the scene is the Batmobile but it appears that The Riddler Has gotten away, or Has He? It seems that in the middle of the chaos Riddler Has managed to capture Commisioner Gordon to bring back to His underground base of operations. Will The Dark Knight track down The Prince Of Puzzles? Will Commisioner Gordon live to see another day? The answers to these questions and more await You when You visit the official website HERE. Okay,Now for the review... I've done a short stop motion film Myself in College so I know how much work can go into a project like this so Jonathan gets credit up front. Mr. Markiewitz has created a believable little world complete with busy city streets and just the right amount of lightning to give the set a true Gotham mood. The film is definitely in the same vein as Tim Burton's vision of the Caped Crusader complete with Danny Elfman soundtrack and a Batsuit and Batmoble noticeably inspired by the earlier Batman films. There is some nice camera work used in the film with all kinds of Zany angles that brings to mind some of the optical illusions used on the original Adam West Batman shows from the 60's. This film is definitely an inspired piece of work by a true Batman Fan and it shows. The film has no dialogue but the soundtrack captures the mood and action making dialogue almost unnecessary like in an old movie serial. This film is one mighty impressive piece of work that You must see for Yourself to believe. Your hard work payed off Jonathan, great job!

FOUR MORE YEARS OF VADER - The King of Fan Film parodies, Hank Braxtan, is at it again! This time Braxtan is poking fun at a certain Government, who shall remain nameless. The short film features Darth Vader being interviewed on a News talk show after He has just been re-elected to serve four more years as The Dark Lord. Since the film uses a News show as it's vehicle their are many funny moments. Footage of a news anchor freezing His balls off while covering the battle of Hoth & Luke Skywalker hiding out in the mountains from Vader's Empire providing grainy, videotaped messages (like a certain #1 Most WantedTerrorist) are two of My favorite moments in the film. If Your'e a fan of Ol' George Dubya chances are that this film will piss You off.On His website Braxtan emphasizes that this film is merely a parody and that He respects the Government and the positions He pokes fun at. Since I am not a huge fan of Our President and His decisions He's made since being elected I found this film hilarious and brilliant as Hell. I mean how can You not laugh when Vader interrupts His interview to lop off someones head with a Lightsabre? Using The Star Wars Universe to make fun of Uncle Sam is absoulutely genius. I believe that Everyone will enjoy this film wether Your'e a Bush fan or not simply for the fact that it's clever. Another winner from Mr. Braxtan! www.braxtanfilm.com

SAMURAI - This newest film by Director Chris R. Notarile is a bit of a departure from His other work I've seen, and that is definitely NOT a bad thing by any means. This time Notarile tackels the world of the great Samurai warrior. SAMURAI is inspired by the hit Cartoon Network series, SAMURAI JACK. This film tells the story of a Samurai warrior who has put His days of fighting behind Him. But it appears that the forces of evil have some other plans for the warrior. The Samurai is challenged to fight various opponents sent by the forces of evil even though He no longer hungers for battle. The fight scenes are well choreographed by Fight Director Douglas Ferguson who also co-created the film with Notarile. More Fan Film makers should use Fight Directors, it really makes a difference and makes Your film that much more professional. I mention this because some of the Fan Films I've checked out lately have been a little rusty in the fight scene department. I'm not pointing fingers, I'm just offering a suggestion. Anyway, back to My review...The fight scenes appear bigger than they actually are because of the beautiful, vast winter scenery. Also, Since the film is in black and white the snow and scenery definitely compliment each other. Notarile even got an actor who resembles SAMURAI JACK, Martial Artist and Actor Pai Sen. If You dig SAMURAI JACK or films by Kurosawa you will definitely enjoy this film. The film also features no dialoge, only subtitles which only add more authenticity to the Samurai movie feel. Cool stuff, I'm looking forward to more original films by Notarile. www.blinky-productions.com

ROBIN - This short by Robert Gunderson is based on the modern Robin Tim Drake. The film gets to the action right away as We see a band of masked thugs on their way to steal an important piece of equiptment for their boss. Things don't go as easily as the crew had planned now that Robin is hot on their trail. When Robin gets to the scene the fists fly and the crew are easily taken down by the new Boy Wonder. The end of this one has a little surprise so see it for Yourselves and enjoy! Robert Gunderson directs this film and also stars as Robin/Tim Drake. You just can't go wrong when You look just like Him! Mr.Gunderson's Robin costume is by far one of the best homemade costumes I have ever seen in a fan film or anywhere for that matter. I kid You not folks check it out! Some neat special effects are used for Robin's extendable bow staff, and We even get to see the Batarang fly! This film was made just for The Fanboy's because it features pretty much everything We want to see in a Robin Fan Film, A great looking costume, plenty of action, and a neatly wrapped little story that keeps Us from getting bored. COURAGE & STUPIDITY-This film is a witty short based on a young Steven Spielberg and His struggle to complete His film JAWS. Todd Wall gives an impressive and noteworthy performance as a young Spielberg, He even looks like Him. Wall is joined by Aaron Fiore who stars as a young George Lucas, and yep...He looks and acts just like Lucas. Amazing casting is probably the reason this film is getting so much attention right now. And since this film is based on Jaws We also get to see Richard Dreyfuss, who is played flawlessly by Kahil Dotay. Some of the funniest moments in the film come from Dotay and His dead on Dreyfuss impersonation. The main reason I enjoyed this film so much is that it was a Fan Film paying homage to the creators, rather than just their creations. Another fine example of this would be the short GEORGE LUCAS IN LOVE (check it out if You haven't already). For all of You Movie Buffs out there see if You can spot the little nods to Spielberg's other films hidden in the films dialouge. Everybody loves a good film about the underdog fighting the good fight and coming out on top, This film does that and more. One of My favorite moments in the film is when Spielberg is trying to convince producers that His film will make people afraid to go in the water again (now We know how it all started). This brilliant short film was written and Directed by Darin Beckstead and brought to You by Ranchero Entertainment. See this film today and discover the behind the scenes turmoil that made JAWS happen. One Fanboy thumb way up! To make wrong things right the spirit of the young man is ressurected from the dead in the form of The Crow, A true spirit of vengeance. The Crow hunts down the original members of the Red Dragon's one by one until all pay for their savage acts of cold blooded murder. This was a great adaptation of James O'Barr's original Crow comics because it captured everything that the Crow is supposed to be, a grim soldier of justice who will not rest until all the guilty are punished. At times the young actor playing The Crow (Steven Daff) reminded Me of Brandon Lee and I got the chills. Some cool effects are used in flashback sequences and a very impressive shot through the eyes of a Crow are used. This film set out to pay homage to James O'Barr's creation and I think they certainly pulled it off. Great job folks!

FRIDAY THE 31st-MICHAEL VS. JASON-This is Director Chris R. Notarile's followup to His well received THE NIGHTMARE ENDS ON HALLOWEEN. This film is the story of John Tate who decides to leave Haddonfield behind and all of the terrible suffering and misfortune that His family curse has brought Him. Tate's mother was murdered by Michael Myers who just happens to be His own uncle. John decides to start over, moving to New York with His new Fiance Sara and attending college there. On the way to New York John and Sara get low on gas and decide to stop at a roadside station in a certain place called Camp Crystal Lake. After filling up John and Sara head out and become lost on Crystal Lake's dark and deserted back roads. They find a lone house in the dark and decide to stop and ask for directions. It just so happens that this particular hideaway is being used by Tommy Jarvis and a woman named Sharon who are both on the run from another famed killer, Jason Voorhees. John and Sarah are greeted at the door with guns pointed at their heads. Tommy tells them to get in and explains why they are so jumpy. Let's just say that they have a good reason to be because Jason is right on their tail. Another surprise awaits the occupents of the house beacause they are not alone. Michael Myers has followed John and Sara all the way form Haddonfield and is waiting for His chance to strike. Well, Jason finally reaches the house and breaks the door down. Tommy and John decide to make a stand against the machette wielding maniac with little effect. Next is the battle we've all been waiting for..Jason and Michael meet face to face and the killers collide. The outcome is for all of You to enjoy on Your own. This follwup to A NIGHTMARE ENDS ON HALLOWEEN does not dissapoint and maintains all of the original qualities that made the first film so enjoyable. You just cant't go wrong when two Horror Gods beat the living (or should i say dead..?)Crap out of each other. The fights are well choreographed by Airon Armstrong who also plays Michel Myers. My favorite scene of the film is when Michael and Jason are going at it and in the middle of the brutal battle they end up exchanging weapons (Brilliant stuff!) Other things to note are the great jobs both actors did in bringing Michael(played by Airon Armstrong) and Jason (played by Rich Myles) to life. Each actor pulled off the look and mannerisms of the characters perfectly. Lastly newcomer Johnathan Ellis portrayed a very convincing John Tate, and He even looks like Josh Hartnett! This film is much longer than THE NIGHTMARE ENDS ON HALLOWEEN but don't worry about getting bored, You should definitely Make room for this one on Your Must See List. Jolly good show Chris!

Burnside beleives that the camp is cursed and that Jason is bound to return. Unfased by Burnside Wil greets the new counselor's as they arrive. After being shown to their cabins the new counselors settle in to their new summer home. Well, We all know what comes next..Young counselor's mixed with raging hormones and liquor leads to a hanky panky marathon. All of Us also know that there is a certain masked psycho who can't stand campers and their sins of the flesh. The remainder of this full length feature is for all of You Guys to check out for Yourselves. Plenty of stuff that make the original films so great. Sex, Machette's, and inventive murders are all here for You sick bastards to eat up. The acting could have used a little polishing here and there but then again did any of the actors in the original films win any Oscars? Jason (played by Ed Post) looks convincing and sports the look of the earlier films when His mask was actually still white. Also some nicely done custom makeup effects for Jason's unmasked & ugly puss and a camp that looks just like Crystal Lake. Good job Guys and Gals for keeping the feel of the original films and for making the hour and a half running time enjoyable. Cowan also sports the ever famous Blade hairdo and extensive body tats. This film was made on $700 budget and shot over a period of five days. Don't let the low budget fool you, the special effects and intense fight choreography were quite inpressive to say the least. At times I forgot I was watching a Fan Film. The film is not perfect but It's pretty darn good and does the Blade franchise very proud. Nice job Guys!

LOSING LOIS LANE-Now, We all know Superman's biggest weakness right? If You answered Kryptonite give yourself a big Fanboy No-Prize! But there is yet another thing that makes Big Blue weak in the knees, and Her name is Lois Lane. This film takes a comedic, and very clever look into the life of a defeated and very normal Superman after being dumped by Lois Lane. The Man Of Steel crashes at Jimmy Olsen's pad drinking beers, watching cartoons, and obsessing all day long over His lost love pissing Jimmy off in the process. Jimmy tries everything to cheer Superman up, even bringing Him out to a local bar to try and meet someone new. It just so happens that Wonder Woman walks in (dressed in Her civilian garb as Diana Prince) and Jimmy tells Clark to go and talk to Her. Just when things start to go well Big Blue is C*ck blocked bigtime by a Ben Affleck like Green Lantern. Friggin' hilarious stuff and it only gets funnier from there. We see Jimmy become Superman's extremely stupid looking sidekick Superboy, an unfriendly game of poker at The Hall Of Justice, and a near Catfight between Lois Lane and Catwoman over a certain Man in blue tights. This film is a winner from beginning to end with plenty of inside jokes for us Fanboys to enjoy (complete with footage taken directly from The Superfriends cartoons)and brainy one liners that would make Kevin Smith proud. This movie really made Me laugh and all involved did a fantastic job showing us a side of Our Superheroes that We rarely get to see. Superman is played by Blayne Weaver who also directed the film, and Brandon Barrera plays a great modern day Jimmy Olsen. RATS:A SIN CITY YARN-Ripped from the pages of Frank Miller's, SIN CITY story, LOST, LONELY, AND LETHAL and brought to life in glorious black and white comes this powerful piece of work by Pitch Films. RATS is the short, disturbing tale of an old German War Criminal living in absolute poverty and reflecting on His past life, remembering the attrocities He commited and comparing the human lives He and His army had taken to those of Rats. This is a three minute short so there is not much story, But the way this thing was shot is right on the money. The black and white film and the comic book panel styled cinematography made this film look just like a Frank Miller comic. The actor playing the old War Criminal (James Peak) also looked as if He'd jumped out of a Frank Miller panel, defeated, wrinkled, and hopeless, with a face that looks like it was roughly chisseled out of granite. I would have loved to have seen a longer film in this style but the finished product was so impressive that I'll settle for the three minutes and change. Amazing piece of work! TOMORROW'S MEMOIR - This film is the story of a retired Superhero writing His memoirs and looking back at His life and the good and bad He has done for His city. The now elderly man walks the streets of the modern day city remembering when, the days when His efforts mattered, The days when things seemed almost routine. Now He questions His actions in the past, Were His efforts more harm then good? The old man notices the newspaper headlines, there is a mysterious disaster threatening to destroy His city and He knows that He is the only man capable of stopping this devestation. If that's not bad enough the old man is being followed by the government. They have been keeping tabs on His activities ever since they discovered His secret identity. One of the agents tracking the old man(Detective Wayne) just so happens to be the grandson of a certain Dark Knight Detective. The agent tries to convince Him to come out of retirement and save the city. The old man seems uninterested and walks on. He seems proud that the young Detective has a little bit of His Grandfather in Him. Impending doom Has the city in a panic, Will the old man don His cape once more? I don't do spoilers so PLEASE watch this fantastic film. This film was like a comic book brought to life. Every frame felt like a comic book panel,A Noir pulp meets Alex Ross. The cinematography was brilliant and the look of the film captured the mood perfectly. I also loved the suttle references to the Superman and Batman mythology. Is this elderly man really The Man Of Steel? I think that only the makers of the film and Us Comic Fans truly know the answer to that question. Lastly I would like to commend Stephen Jefferys on His superb performance as the narrarator and the retired Hero. HALLOWEEN-NIGHTMARE-The Shape is back and this time He's stalking a new family in Haddonfield. When a young boy awakens from a terrible nightmare in which He becomes a murderer the chain of events begins and Myers follows the boy home from school. Myers seems to have a particular interest in the family and waits for His chance to kill them one by one. We all know the horror formula...killer finds family and kills them one by one until one is left to take on the killer in the final showdown.Well, This one is a little different and for that very reason I really enjoyed this film. The acting seemed pretty natural and the family was very believeable (maybe because some of the directors family appears in the cast) The surprise ending is genius and makes you want to go back for round two. NIGHTWING-A KNIGHT IN BLUDHAVEN-When bodies of murdered Bludhaven gangsters wash up on Gotham's shores Nightwing decides to pay the notorious city a visit to look into the escalating criminal activity. What Nightwing finds is a major Gang started by Gotham City's False Facers, soldiers of the mysterious crimelord Black Mask. Nightwing uncovers a plot by the False Facers to steal a container of frozen embryos belonging to a rival crimelord and His wife. In the process He is knocked out and chained to a cement block. Nightwing is tossed into the harbor and believed dead but Mr. Grayson was trained by the best in the biz so you guess what happens next. Just when Nighwing thinks He escaped a close call Bludhavens Police Chief orders one of His best (Inspector Soames) to find and eliminate the crimefighter. Since the city is riddled with corruption The Police Chief believes that a crimefighter will only cause problems and interfere with business. Check out this film and find out what happens to Nightwing and His fight to clean up Bludhaven. The film itself was well paced eliminating any boring stuff. The reason for this is probably because the script for the film is taken (almost word for word) from the Knight In Bludhaven storyline which appeared in the Nightwing comics. Scott Huizenga played a very convincing Nightwing/Dick Grayson and His costume was very well done. The only complaint I have with it is He is missing His fighting sticks. Neal Barlow (one of the films Directors and Producers) Does a nice job playing Batman. I especially liked the tone of His voice. It reminded Me of the Bruce Timm Batman which I like very much. Although His performance was good the costume could have used a little more work. The cowl looked a little strange seperated from the cape. All of these little things aside I enjoyed this film and found it to be a well done adaptation of the Nighwing comics. The opening of the film with the dramatic musical score by Mike Baltz and imagery from the Nightwing comics was an excellent way to start the film and set the overall mood, and it also happened to be one of my favorite parts of the production. Neal Barlow and Matt Garman truly busted ass making this film not only directing and producing it, but also starring in it, editing it, designing some of the costume work and too many more tasks to mention. That's what Fan Films are all about, Finding the time, resources, and commitment to make your dream happen. Thumbs up to you gentlemen and a job well done. GI JOE:SPECIAL MISSIONS 2-ENTER FIREFLY That's right, Rene Perez and His iDiC crew are back with another well done GI JOE film. This Film tells the story of GI JOE agent Flint trying to think of a way to pop The Big Question to Lady Jaye. Just when He gets down on His knee Flint is interrupted by a distress signal, Cobra is at it again! We cut to Flint and a team of soldiers in the middle of a fierce firefight with Firefly (A mysterious & masked Cobra Operative) The more experienced killer seems to be too much for the small band of soldiers and Flint is left to take Firefly one on one. A well choreographed fight commences with dizzying angles and a hailstorm of flying fists. Just then the rest of the Joe team arrives. The team consists of fellow Joe's Lady Jaye, Beachead, and Low Light (played by Director Rene Perez who also makes an experience in Special Missions-1) Beachead and Low Light chase a now fleeing Firefly in to the forest.Just when you think He's cornered Firefly becomes even more dangerous. More hand to hand action errupts and Firefly slips away once again. Where does He go? What ever happened to Flint and Lady Jaye? Will The Joe's come out on top? You'll have to check out the film for the answer to these questions. Just like the original Special Missions film by iDiC the ending to this one leaves us dyin' for the sequel. I've got two words people...SNAKE EYES! Enough about that, Let's get back to this film. There are many good things about this one. The fight scene choreography is some of the best I have ever seen in a Fan Film. It seems like iDiC has come a long way since the first film. Plenty of hot lead flyin' and first appearances by Beachead (who happens to be one of My personal favorite Joe's) and Lady Jaye help to make this one a winner. The costumes on both Joe and Cobra soldiers look great, They have a real world military feel to them as opposed to the more comic book style costumes worn in the cartoon series. Thomas John Falzarano is back as Flint and He does a fine job as the Joe leader. You can tell that Flint truly is proud of His country and that being a GI JOE means more to Him than anything. To sum it all up this one tops Special Missions-1,and that was a great film. So, what does that tell you? Get your butts over to IFilm and see this film! http://www.ifilm.com/ifilmdetail/2650444

GHOSTBUSTERS-THE ANIMATED SERIES:SOUL COLLECTOR - This animated short is one of many planned by Producer Dan Liberg and Tajiri Studios. This episode Has the GB's up against a soul devouring ghost named The Zato Brute (hope I'm spelling that right) The spook had struck numerous times stealing peoples souls and leaving them brain dead. Ray figures out a brilliant plan to catch the ghost, But will it work? Sorry, No spoilers here at The Theatre. You must see this one for yourself. I enjoyed this film very much because I am both a big Ghostbusters fan as well as a child of The 80's. There are few funny nods to the 80's throughout this short like the News Anchor named Huey Lewis haha(Damn I'm old). The animation is kind of crude in that South Park kind of way but it works. The voices aren't dead on but The actor who does Egon sounds great. The animators used a few clever angles and some nice perspective like the scene where Ray spots the Ghost through His goggles. The soundtrack is borrowed from various places (including the original films) and adds a nice touch. Overall this one is a winner.I'm already hooked haha. The short also features a preview for Their next feature starring a certain Ghostbusters Team from Denver. To top it all off this two parter will be written by Hank Braxtan ( creator of Freddy Vs. Payne decides to pick up the twin heaters and bring the ruckus to the criminal scum. Max pays a visit to a drug deal in progress between two gangs. As soon as Max shows His face the fantastic choreographed violence errupts. We've got people diving through the air shooting just like something out of a John Woo flick. Speaking of John Woo this film's shootouts are as professional as your'e gonna get. A majority of Mr. Chen's budget was spent on the amazing effects that you'll see in this film and in my opinion it was money well spent. LEGENDS-This film asks Us.. What would happen if Jason Vorhees entered the real world? This release from the people of Detour Records And Films is a full length feature using a similar premise that was used in The Nightmare On Elm Street series where Freddy left His land of Dreams and entered the real world. The story centers around Michael, A frustrated young Horror writer suffering from a nasty case of Writer's Block. Michael's sister Laurie suggests going on a camping trip with some of their friends. Michael is reluctant but decides to go along with the idea. When the crew finally arrives at the cabin they like what they see and settle in. Well, We all know what eventually happens next...Jason enters our world and makes the young campers most horrible nightmares a reality. One by one they are hunted down until few remain. Who will live to tell the tale of this camping trip gone horriby wrong? You'll have to visit the official website to find out. This film was very well done for amateur filmmakers and had a very professional feel all throughout. The acting was top notch for a Horror film, the fast pace and occasional humor of the film kept you interested through all fifty minutes, The special effects and gore looked great, and most importantly Jason looked just as menacing as His Hollywood counterpart. Other things to note are the great camerawork and soundtrack which topped it all off as an overall winner. Next to THE NIGHTMARE ENDS ON HALLOWEEN this is one of the best Horror Fan Films I have seen in a long time. FREDDY VS.GHOSTBUSTERS-This film has a new generation of Ghostbusters led by Egon Spengler's nephew Ed facing off against our favorite pizza face from Elm Street Mr.Freddy Krueger. The whole story begins when Neil Anderson (a good friend of Ed Spengler) is having one of His re-occuring nightmares of being chased by Freddy. Neil is clearly shaken by the dreams and decides to share them with His closest friends (Ed Spengler & Eugene O'Fitzpatrick) who have just come into town looking for paranormal activity in the area. Ed comes to the conclusion that Neil's old mattress may be possessed with the spirit of Freddy Krueger. Upon hearing this news and being attacked by ghosts at their local watering hole the trio suits up and The Ghostbusters are reborn. After a few failed attempts to get Freddy out of Neil's mattress Ed devises a new way to get ahold of Krueger. Aided by one of Ed's inventions the trio will enter the world of dreams and force Freddy into the real world where He can easily be contained. Obviously I'm not going to give away the ending so i'll stop the description now and begin with the praise...I'll start by saying that this is one of the most brilliant Fan Films I have ever seen (no exaggeration). The acting was on point (rare in a Fan Film), The jokes were hilarious (just as good as the original films), and Freddy was played quite convincingly (bad one liners and all) by Mr. Bradley J. Roddy. In most franchise films when team lineups are changed and new characters are thrown into the mix things don't always mesh, But this film is clearly an exception. I loved the new characters, especially (the Bill Murrayesque) Eugene O'Fitzpatrick and Neil's slob roomate Chuck. These new characters kept the spirit of the orginal GB films alive while adding a little something extra. That's what makes makes a good remake or a sequel work, keeping with the original formula (to satisfy the hardcore fans) while gradually introducing a little something new to keep people interested in the new direction. This film does ALL of these things and a little more. I wish that this film was a even longer, But for a Fan Film (most being under ten minutes) this Baby is a whopping thirty-five minutes! So I really have nothing to bitch about. Lastly the brilliant writing by Hank Braxtan and Tim Johnson and a superb job by the cast and crew made this film a must see. supes.jpg

SUPERMAN:LUTHOR FOR PRESIDENT- It's the year 2000 and guess who's been elected as our new Head Of State...? It's everyone's favorite crome domed criminal mastermind Lex Luthor! Yup, Much to Supey's dismay His arch enemy is now the most powerful (Mortal) Man in the world. This Fan Film is based on a story by Jeph Loeb, Greg Rucka, Peter David, And Frank Pittarese which ran in the Superman Books between the year's 2000 and 2001. This film shows us Luthor's rise to power in the form of a a television biography followed by the actual film itself. One of my favorite parts of the film is the very beginning where we see Luthor going through His daily routines as the world's most ruthless businessman set to a classical score. There are plenty of humorous moments here as we see Luthor trying to make a name for Himself on the campaign trail while Superman still garners all or most of the publics attention. At one point we see a man handing out free menus for His new restaraunt. Lex takes one from the man and is disgusted by what
He reads. Specials in the menu include "Superman-The Man Of Steel Salmon & The Lex-Liverwurst or Toungue", Hilarious stuff. In order to truly hold the title of the most powerful man in the World Luthor knows there is still one very big and blue object standing in His way..Superman! Luthor cuts a deal with Gotham baddie Bane (portrayed magnificently by "Beyond Re-Animators" Enrique Arce) Luthor wants to obtain a rather large chunk of Kryptonite which Bane has recently stolen. Let's just say that Lex makes Bane one happy roid ragin' maniac. Eventually a certain Dark Knight hears about this transaction and decides to take Luthor down against Big Blue's wishes. Superman only defends Luthor because He was elected by the people. Bat's decides to team up with a certain female reporter to gain access to the White House and Luthor Himself. I'm not going to give away the ending, let's just say that Batman and Superman meet in the wrong place at the wrong time and all H-E-Double Hockeysticks breaks loose. This film works on many levels, First and foremost Jason Bailey's convincing portrayl as an extra arrogant Luthor. Bailey is everything Lex needs to be and more. It's great watching Lex work the public while cracking a half ass grin and trying to control his general disdain for the common people. Secondly this film has the perfect balance of humor and drama which made the first two Superman films so great. For example check out Dan Cole's deadpan rendition of Luthor's right hand bungler Otis. Michael Edward Walters does a nice job as The Man Of Steel But in my humble opinion maybe He should have bulked up a little more for the role. Then again, Christopher Reeve wasn' t exactly Mr. Universe either. Alan Booth plays a somewhat convincing Batman complete with extra brooding. Only complaint about Bats was the lenses in His mask. He would have looked better without the four eyes. At least He didn't have Bat-Nipples..Yeesh! Another great sequence in the film is the scene at Bane's stronghold. Enrique Arce is part Paccino and part Antonio Banderas as Batman's posterboy for Steroid abuse who just loves His teddy..Awww. The only real complaint I have about the film itself is the limited action with Batman and Superman. I know you guys don' t have the Hollywood budget but a little more toe to toe would have made Us Fanboy's even happier with your film. The Men and Women of OCD Productions along with all of the actors and actresses involved should all be very proud of their efforts because this was a job very well done. Thumbs up! SILVER SURFER- This one is a very cool animated short by James Rothwell and Brant Dennee. No dialog or real story to speak of, just a computer generated Silver Surfer sailing the spaceways set to a techno music soundtrack. I look at this short as an experimental piece more than an actual film. If Hollywood ever decides to put The Surfer on the big screen I think thet should follow the lead of these two creators when it comes to the appearance of The Surfer, strictly CGI. Check this one out if your'e a fan of computer generated eye candy or just a Silver Surfer nut. Cool stuff! To watch this film streaming please go to www.ifilm.com and look in the Fan Films section.

REACTION - This is one of very few Hulk Fan Films out there, and it's probably the best. At the start of the film we see Bruce Banner emerging from a Gamma Ray testing lab. He appears to be very ill, and He manages to stumble His way outside. While attempting to flee the scene of the accident in His Jeep, Banner is tailed by the Military base security gaurds. Banner starts to hear voices in His head, and then it happens...The Incredible Hulk smashes His way out of the jeep and proceeds to kick the ever-lovin' Bejeezus out of the soldiers. This film is short, but it is deffinitely worth checking out just to see The Hulk wreck shop. This film is Directed by Nick Kougloulis and stars Darin Beckstead as Bruce Banner. The special effects in the film are well done, minimal, and effective. The scene when Banner looks at Himself transforming in the rear view mirror of His jeep is particularly impressive. Very nice effort here! I would love to see a full length from you guys. please check out this film streaming at www.ifilm.com in the Fan Film section or go to the official site at http://homepage.mac.com/reaction/reactionsite.html

RUN LEIA RUN- This is our very first fully animated Fan Film reviewed here at Fanboy Theatre and i couldn't think of a better one to start with. As you can tell by the title of this film this one is a parody of Star Wars and the German film Lola Rennt or the American title Run Lola Run. This parody uses the same formula as the original Lola film but puts a humorous twist on things by featuring Star Wars characters as the leads. The main plot of this film has Princess Leia on a mission to rescue Han Solo from the vile clutches of Jabba The Hutt. Even though The Deathstar has been destroyed small factions of Imperial forces remain forcing the Rebels out of their hidden bases. In an attempt to capture Luke Skywalker The Imperial forces look to kidnap Han Solo and use Him as bait. Solo calls Leia an tells Her that Jabba The Hutt will execute Him unless He hands over the spice shipment He was supposed to deliver to Him. Solo lost the shipment while being pursued by an Boba Fett. Leia must find a way to collect 120, 000 credits(the value of the missing shipment) in twenty minutes or Solo is a dead man. Leia scrambles down Her spiral staircase and hits the streets in search of Solo. Along the way Leia encounters many famous faces of the Star Wars universe. Like Lola Rennt every time Leia makes contact with a particular person on the street we see a brief flashback of that persons life which provides us with a mini story within a story that works out very nicely especially with the deep history of George Lucas's characters. Again, like the original German film every time Leia fails She must start Her mission all over again. This works very well also providing us with many funny moments that Warsies will appreciate. This feature is crudely animated but I think the style works well with the fiilm. This is a very clever little short that everyone should enjoy. Check it out and see what becomes of Leia and Solo. HULK:AFTERMATH- I was glad to find out that there was finally a new Hulk Fan Film out there just beggin' to be reviewed, So without any further BS....Hulk: Aftermath is almost like The Incredible Hulk-Year One because it deals with the original grey skinned monster of old rather than the emerald skinned beast so familiar with Today's modern pop culture. We find Bruce Banner on a deserted road wearing nothing but shreds that were once clothes. After trying to hitch a ride unsuccesfully Banner reaches a dive motel and checks in under an alias...little does He know that this particular room would contain a most unwanted roomate. Banner tries to relax and turns on the TV. Banner is horrified to see the destruction caused by The Hulk all over the news. So upset infact that he passes out. After being rudely awakened by a horrible nightmare Banner goes to the restroom to wash up only to find His monstrous alter ego staring back and taunting him. I won't give away much more because this is very enjoyable short that you should check out on your own. This film gets pointers right off the bat for a couple of reasons...Banner appears dorky, sporting glasses (just like in the original Lee/Kirby series), He actually wears purple pants at one point (EEEGADS!), And the creators even went so far as to include a soundtrack from the 1970's live action Hulk show with Lou Ferrigno. I always dug that sad Hulk tune at the end as Bixby travelled on down the road to His next adventure(aaaah the memories...). Those are just a few cool things to check out when you view this bad boy. The transformation sequences were pulled off using some clever editing and minor CGI effects similar to HULK-REACTION. I liked this film very much and would strongly reccommend it to any Fanboy period, Hulk fan or not. This film was Directed by Gary Lobstein and stars John Dedeke as Bruce Banner. check out a high quality streaming version of the film at FanFlicks.com or you can download a lower quality version right to your desktop at the official website http://hulkaftermath.tripod.com/.
